I switched because they suck.  HSBC used to be a fairly good choice, especially for people who travel because they have a lot of branches in other countries.  The problem is they have very bad customer service. They used to have a line for personal banking and a line for business banking.  I would use the business line because I own a company, and it worked pretty well.  HSBC then implemented a system called Premier Banking for people who have over $100,000 of assets at the bank, and they made a third line for them.  All of a sudden I went from a line that was fairly fast for business people to getting screwed by the fact that the tellers would be either servicing the personal banking line, or the premier and business lines, and they would always take the premier line first.  Sometimes they would literally have no tellers for the business lines.  And if you tried to bring that to their attention they were too incompetent to realize what a bad system they set up. On top of that they made it very difficult to close my account.  They were not responsive in any way.

I have been banking with them for 17 years. They have many branches. They are very professional and it is easy to talk to them. I have never had a problem that they could not work through with me. I am very happy with their service.

Overall, the bank is good all thought it seemed the employes were not as knowledgeable as they should be.
