My new Jeweler is amazing.  
For years I?ve been going to one Jeweler, he was honest, well priced and did everything for his customers ? alas, he?s sold his store and the search for a new Jeweler began.  
Recommendations from close friends bounced me from one Jeweler to another ? but I?m not the average consumer and with little effort it was obvious I wasn?t getting the right pricing for the right diamond quality ? so the search continued. 
I put off going to a Jeweler in New York City?s Diamond District I?ve known for years, as I didn?t want to trek into NY every time I
needed Jewelry but with holiday?s looming I was running out of time and his reputation as a full service jeweler was impeccable, so I took the trip.   I?ve known Leon Jr. for several years as we?ve the same group of friends.  He?s got a big presence, entertaining and can make anyone laugh.  At his shop, I met the same guy, but he wasn?t like the guy I knew socially or in person, at work he had a focus on what my needs were, then presented three variations and their prices.   This was the same moment I met the man who founded the Jewelry Store about 40 years ago, Leon?s father.   He too had that focus of a true craftsman, someone who absorbs what you want, not to sell you something off the shelf, but being a true craftsman of the trade, knows what
it?ll take to make you the exact piece you?re looking for.   They took my ideas, explained the things they were going to do to make it a one-of-a-kind piece with the finest clasps.   After a presentation like this, and knowing all the work was going to be hand-crafted, I expected the price to be substantial ? was wrong! 
I then expected the work to take a week or more to complete, wrong again!   I thought maybe our friendship was the reason to be pushed to the front of the line, but they assured me no one gets special treatment ? the reason they can get it done
within a day or two is because they had all the stones in stock and had the craftsmen to do the work immediately! 
Two days later everything was finished and they turned out much better than anticipated.  The stones
sit on a unique setting that showcases the stone, letting light in from behind the setting allows the stone to radiate the color spectrum that few setting provide.   Leon is proud to show the
strength and rigidity of his settings as well.  
I still couldn?t believe the price was that good.   After our transaction I was shown some of his custom work for TV, Sports personalities and celebrities while also catering to modest requests like mine.   They
closely follow the high-fashion designers throughout the world and have some the most exquisite and exotic jewelry in stock ? all the pieces you see in high-fashion magazines.   It doesn?t end there, because of the long history in the Jewelry Industry, Leon and his father have access to the finest selections of watches in the world ? and they have customized some to the client?s personal touch and taste.  I don?t like the ?me too? watches and prefer the lesser known, handcrafted watches and when I inquired about one, he called me back the next day to say he could have it in one day ? again at a price that was far less than any I had been quoted over the last several months.    
Several weeks later, I got the pieces Leon and his Father designed and made appraised ?. I won?t talk actual dollar amounts, but the appraisal was significantly more than I expected or what I paid.  The stones he used were excellent and the craftsmanship was complimented by the appraiser.  
I have a new Jeweler ? Leon Garabet Jr and his Dad.   If you need any jewelry, watches or diamonds, I highly recommend them.
