They took the time to answer all my questions. Everything went smooth and they kept my up to date the whole time.

My husband and I moved from the Boston area to New York City in 2017. At that time we switched our tax accountant from one who had always performed impeccably but was located in Cambridge, Mass., to George Dimov’s firm. We chose Mr. Dimov because he got such good reviews and was in the city where we now live. We have three accounts – a joint account and two others. The first year Mr. Dimov filed our taxes satisfactorily. The next year he switched us to another accountant in the firm. We signed a Power of Attorney form enabling Mr. Dimov and any other of the firm’s accountants to have access to our bank records, to calculate our taxes and to pay them. To be clear: my husband gave them access through power of attorney to all the information they would need for the three accounts. We came to find out in 2020 that no taxes had been paid for either 2018 or 2019, despite our having signed the P.O.A. and having sent in the income figures for the three accounts. Another accountant calculated our taxes for 2020. He did not include the two accounts besides the joint account. We have gone back to our former accountant; I was a fool to have left him. I have had to continuously pay back taxes with fines because of Dimov’s incompetence. One final thing: I had written a bad review for Mr. Dimov’s firm and then phoned to ask him for copies of our 2020 tax forms. He refused to send them unless I took the review down. This is illegal. It is called extortion. My tax forms and my husband’s are our property; Mr. Dimov is not entitled to withhold them. But for the sake of expediency I took the original review down and he sent the forms. I am re-posting the review because I think others should know about our experience. If you look at my other Yelp reviews I think you will find that almost never do I write a review of this sort unless I encounter bad or incompetent dealing. And I rarely do.

George & the team have been instrumental for me for years - I have been an employee, a contractor, business owner, and now freelancer. Throughout the years they have completed by books, tax, 1099s for my employees, list goes on. Really anything I need accounting-wise I turn to this team. Julia, Bob, and Doni have all been great. Communication is brisk and I really feel taken care of - without having to really know anything about tax. They also handled the dissolution of my last partnership when things did not work out with my business parter - I am now happily a free agent and love it

First of all, I want to say many thanks to George and his team! They’ve been working on my stuff for quite some time now - from establishing my C-Corp back in the day to filing my personal and business taxes every year after. With them, I forgot what a pain tax used to be. They send me very useful timely reminders about the important dates, they always file everything on time, they’re always extremely nice and helpful. I had a lot of friends ditch their accountant and hire George. Now that my business has grown and I’m going to expand globally, I requested a consultation on the tax implications that will follow, and it was on point, as usual. Their knowledge is so deep and I feel secure that George & his team got me covered even outside the country. I highly recommend these guys if you want ax expert reliable team on your side. I simply have other more important things to worry about and tax is no longer one of them.

On 3/27/21 I contacted Dimov to complete my taxes. I never had to pay estimated taxes in the past and explained that my tax return needed to be complete by 4/15/2021 so I could pay IRS by the 4/15 deadline. Dimov agreed. I contacted Dimov on 4/4/21 as a gentle reminder and they stated they needed more time to complete my taxes. I then contacted them on 4/12/21 regarding my tax return and I received an email with the following excerpt: "However, a new stimulus bill was just signed Thursday that will have retroactive effects on 2020, so we will ask for a bit of additional time to see how the government will change the forms. The last time they made changes it took about 1-2 weeks to announce definitively. Please confirm that this timing is alright with you. Many thanks and looking forward to finalizing!" WHAT A LIAR! If tax agencies across the USA were waiting on the government to update their forms millions of customers would be affected. Never mind the fact that giving me a new deadline of 1-2 weeks from 4/12 is past the 4/15 due date. I called them out on their lie and they wrote back and stated their forms are fine. I no longer trust this company so I requested a refund. The company refuses to give one. Now I have to go through my credit card company. Dimov stated on email that they called to talk via phone to clarify their statements. The statement above was VERY clear. Funny they never wanted to do any quick calls before this without charging me a hefty fee. Now I guess the phone is preferable to avoid email documentation?? No thanks, liar! Dimov Associates is a very dishonest and unprofessional organization. Do not do business with these fraudsters!!

I have used Dimov Tax for my personal taxes for several years, and had good experiences with them in the past. I was always impressed with the speed and responsiveness of the Dimov Tax team. However, a recent incident changed my impressions of Dimov Tax entirely. I received a tax bill last week from the IRS for more than $6K for my 2018 taxes. This was due to an error made by Dimov Tax—as I understand it, they incorrectly allocated social security income on my return. I requested that Dimov Tax cover the penalties/interest and refund the tax fee that I paid to them, which would amount to a little over $2K in total. Dimov Tax said that they could cover either the penalties/interest OR refund their fee, but not both. During our conversations, I explained to Dimov Tax that this unexpected bill was a significant burden to me. Still, they insisted that the payment “…wasn’t a big deal…” because I could spread it out over time with an installment plan. Dimov Tax also stated several times that I shouldn’t be concerned with this payment because I was “…supposed to pay this amount anyway.” I explained to Dimov Tax that while I understand that these are taxes that I owe, I put trust in the firm to do my taxes correctly, to avoid situations like this (i.e., getting hit with a more than $6K bill two years later). Furthermore, Dimov Tax attempted to minimize their error by referring to it as simply a “clerical” error. Perhaps an unexpected $6K bill wouldn’t be a problem for them, but it is to me, a college professor. Dimov Tax also threatened to take legal action against me if I, “…take any action that affects the livelihood of” their employees. I can only presume that Dimov Tax is threatening me to attempt to stop me from writing a negative online review of the firm. It is unfortunate that Dimov Tax traffics in this kind of bullying.

His team was in constant contact with me using dropbox to allow me to send in my documents. They were efficient and accessible via phone and email contacts.

George did an amazing job on our accounting. I was referred to him by my former VP of Engineering at Google when I needed a accountant in NYC to handle my personal tax return and also the accounting for my 10 person startup. He found deductions that my last accountant never knew about and was very knowledgable about both CA and NY state tax, particularly how it related to my business and friendly state tax benefits that were designed to help me grow. My company tax liabilities were 12% lower this year than the year prior thanks to George. I will hire him again (if i can't convince him to be our CFO :) and recommend him to anyone.

I've been working with George Dimov, CPA for years. I have multiple web design businesses and to be perfectly honest I'm terrible at bookkeeping, however George and his team make it a breeze to get my taxes and accounting done. It's a breath of fresh air dealing with this stuff using their firm. I would never hire anyone else to do my taxes.

George was able to assist with this - I have been paying far less in taxes since I made the switch to Mr. Dimov. Highly recommend!

George was very responsive the entire time we worked together. I appreciated that he was able to fit my husband and I in for a meeting within a week to take care of our taxes. George was ready to work with us as soon as we arrived and gave us his undivided attention even though he seemed like a very busy man. My husband and I had tried using Turbo Tax for our taxes, just like we had in previous years, but after working with George we saved a significant amount of money on what we owed the government. His service fee was more expensive then some other companies I called, but he was well worth it since he saved us so much money!

George contacted me immediately, listened to my situation, and then took care of all the necessary documents. Very smooth.
