GATEWAY PLUMBING & HEATING

Apparently our cabinets are a pain to work in and fixing the faucets was harder than I thought but it was no problem for Strato Stamenos. I knew the filter job was beyond my knowledge and tools but I'm so glad I also had him take care of the faucets. Those neat little packages they come in are so deceptive but there's a reason you pay for someone to do it right. He also detected a couple of impending problems and took care of them, too. That guy is great. Can Gateway clone him? The up front price was more than expected but I thought it would be a simple job. Uhhh, no. After the work was done, the price made much better sense. Strato didn't dawdle and was wonderful with our curious little dog. I'll definitely be calling Gateway again.

Efstratios Stamenos was my plumber. He arrived early and was very patient in explaining the problem. I am going to hire him for two other plumbing issues that I have. I would highly recommend him.

They were late, for a start. And since the check, most of our radiators have stopped working. Repeated calls to the company have been fruitless. They used to be outstanding and our go-to plumbers for years, now I would not recommend them to anyone.

Great professional advice, creatively applied to brownstone coop.  One radiator valve was tricky to get installed, first time had very slight leak and they came back right away to replace it.

The condo that I stay in is 8 years old and no boiler inspectors had seen it. The first time they came they found a code violation and they told us right away. There was supposed to be a cut off on the whole system in the exterior of the door to the boiler and there was none. We have had an accident there before that could have been avoided if there had been that cut off. The pricing that they give everybody to do services such as these goes by boilers and we had got prior estimates from other companies through service master. We paid them much lower than what they had quoted us and if we had to sign a maintenance contract with them for any repairs that they do then they would have given us a 5% discount. Gateway Plumbing & Heating is run by two brothers and two days later one of the brothers came by and looked at the boiler again and discovered two different flaws at the system which took them additional travel time for evaluation. They found a serious problem and were waiting for a bid for fixing it. The boilers were put 8 years ago but no maintenance was done. Maintenance has to do with cleaning, oiling and adjusting. These three boilers are staged and that’s why there are three. They found them so off balance and one reading that he showed me on one boiler was about a 1000 something and on the next one it was 52. The one code violation that they found has not yet been fixed and they found another problem with the exhaust hood to the hot water heater which had moisture there corroding it. They will have to do adjustments for that which as they said is relative to the temperature at which the boilers are operating which sounds very simple but since this is a HVAC boiler and it’s very complicated. They have to take building measurements and all kinds of stuff. I don’t know how much that is going to cost because they are going to give a proposal which I have not got yet. My overall experience with them has been good. They made an appointment just three hours later though we called them early in the morning because we had a carbon monoxide alarm that was sounding. We are going to have a yearly contract with them.

First off I will say that the woman who answered the phone was nice and cordial...no complaints. The story - I live off of Central Park near Lincoln Center in a doorman high rise building. They told me that my building is considered commercial and not residential. HUH??? Also that my building probably requires me to use their plumber. That is not true. My building lets me use whoever I want if they have insurance. I find it very strange that they are located in Manhattan, but don't do Manhattan apartments. No other plumber in this city has ever given me that as a reasoning. So while they were nice I just thought it was weird.

They came on time and left on time, they didn't charge more than expected.
