Dean Messina, and his two companies, "Dean's Westside Contracting" and "Marquis Construction", who are doing extensive residential work in New York without licenses.  According to the law, unlicensed contractors cannot perform work that costs over $200.
I hired Dean Messina in September 2012 to tile my bathrooms and kitchen.  He misrepresented himself as a licensed and insured contractor though never provided me with any invoices, business card or paperwork whatsoever.  Dean Messina's work was substandard, faulty throughout and didn?t comply with any of my specifications.  He also damaged and stole my property, and left gallons of urine and feces in an unfastened toilet.  Most importantly, Dean Messina made alterations to the plumbing work without authorization or approval.  He does not have a plumbing license.  Mr. Messina became hostile when I asked him about his sloppy tile-work and unapproved plumbing work.  I also asked for his license, insurance, and for a written guarantee.  Instead of providing this, Dean Messina made violent threats, left the job unfinished, and stormed off the premises shouting, ?You don?t know who you?re dealing with!? and, ?I?m going to file a lien!?, which he filed days later with the job incomplete.  The lien instantly cost me hundreds of dollars and over 65 days of full time work preparing my case against his lien.  The lien was vacated by a Supreme Court Judge who awarded me $545 of which Dean Messina has not paid.
The lien is the first document I saw that indicated Dean Messina's contact information.  Mr. Messina also has another Angies Listing where he misspelled his name as ?Mussina.?
According to the law, unlicensed contractors cannot perform work that costs over $200 and cannot file liens.  Use caution when hiring your contractors.

I would give him an A for everything. He was both personal and professional. He was pleasant to work with and did a good job.
