I recently moved into a co-op where the previous owners installed California Closets in all but two of the closets, the linen and coat closet. I really needed to install a system in these closets and make a few minor adjustments to an existing system. I wanted to go with CC so that they would match the existing closets, which is why I was willing to pay the premium. I walked into the CC office on a Friday and a sullen receptionist scheduled me for Monday morning with a designer. The receptionist asked me all these weird questions about location and zip code. These were weird, because the CC office I was in is located in my building. It seemed odd that she didn't know her own office address and zip code. The designer arrived on Monday morning on time, but immediately freaked out because I have two dogs ... two small, quite, laid back dogs. She insisted that I lock them up in another room. If she had dogs issues, I would have preferred the sullen receptionist to inform me and schedule someone else. She then went to ask me what I wanted, but really didn't listen. She kept saying how she was going to "save me some money", and "you don't need that". I never told her I had cost issues or a budget. I had just moved in and was in the process of doing work. I would prefer to have what I wanted vs saving a couple bucks. I finally ordered what I wanted, but she seemed very rushed to get out of the apartment. In hind sight, it may have been the dogs, who were locked up in another room. She was able to schedule the installation for Thursday morning, four days later, which was GREAT! Unfortunately, come Thursday morning, the installer could only complete one of my closets and the adjustment to the existing closet. The designer had measured one of the closets wrong (in her rush to get away from my dogs?). The installer remeasured and came back the next day. He finished the work while I was at another appointment while my husband was home. Unfortunately, my husband did not know the plans. The "new" closet" was not what I ordered. I'm not sure why they did it, but it is different than the agreed upon plans, and has less space! I called the CC office on Monday to tell them I was not happy. The designer came back that day (dogs all locked up) and scheduled the installer to come in on Tuesday ... while I was in class. It was the only time they had free. I reluctantly said yes. I really wanted to be there to make sure they did the job right, but then I thought, it is only a linen closet. How hard can this be? Well, again, it was wrong. I called back that day, and the next available day they could come was Friday afternoon. Friday afternoon came, and the installer actually did what I wanted ... according the the plans originally laid out. I was happy that they installed my closets so (relatively) quickly, but I would have been happier if they had measured correctly and installed what I ordered instead of taking four trips to install a linen closet with six shelves all the same size.
