AJA Lock & Key

I have been using them for over 30 years. The price depends on the keys that I need cut. They were a local locksmith and that is how I know them. I was looking for a person who could copy a hard medical key, and other people looked at it and said it was difficult to do, and they did it for less money. Their professionalism is terrific.

When the locksmith arrived, he looked at what needed fixing and took out a cheap version of what was broken on our lock.  I asked him to fix the other lock on the door that needed a new spring which he did.  He arrived and literally 20 minutes later he handed me a bill for $499.  This was for a new deadbolt gizmo (worth about $35, a spring (25 cents?) and labor (apparently around $25 per minute).  He left a mess as there was grease all over the wall, door and lock -- It is a pity. We used AJA years ago and they were superb.  Things have changed and we would never recommend them now.

I chose this vendor based on suggestion from the management office of my coop.   The first time I called I had a hard time communicating with the person on the phone.  After getting quotes form a couple of places, I chose this place because they provided a card with the high security jimmy proof lock so I could get keys made anywhere.   From other Angie's list reviews, I learned that some locksmiths provide locks that only they can provide the keys -- great idea for extra security but generally inconvenient.  

I had 2 problems with this vendor:
1)  The locksmith did not clean up after he was done -- I found metal shavings on my floor from the drilling.   I should have noticed before he left but did not.
2)  The new jimmy proof lock sticks -- the locksmith told me that it will stop sticking as it is used.   It is now 2 weeks later and it still sticks sometimes.   It works and only sticks occasionally but I don't think it should be that way.

That more than doubled the usual fee. I asked him to leave the old lock behind. When I examined it later he had mutulated it and dropped sodder in the keyhole, it was indeed unusable but it was because of what he had done to it.

The AJA locksmith replaced my upper lock that had been popped off by fire department when my stove was left on when my cleaning lady cleaned the top and my neighbor couldn't get in to turn it off. Door was warped, and locksmith took extra time to work on the door so that both locks would work. While the door isn't what it should be, the AJA man did the best he could to make me feel secure.

I LIKED THIS COMPANY. THEY WERE VERY RESPONSIVE. I TRIED A DIFFERENT COMPANY AT FIRST, BUT THEY DIDN'T RESPOND LIKE THIS COMPANY DID. THIS COMPANY CAME RIGHT AWAY AND THEY HAD A SENSE OF RESPECT FOR ME, THAT IS RARE TO FIND THESE DAYS.

THEY ARE A VERY DEPENDABLE, TRUSTWORTHY AND RELIABLE COMPANY. I AM QUITE SATISFIED WITH THEIR SERVICES AND I THINK THEIR PRICES ARE FAIR FOR WHAT THEY DO. EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT, SO WE ARE VERY HAPPY.
