Absolute Best Care Nanny Agency

I had a nightmare experience with them. The candidate initially accepted the job, but then declined the job after coming to my house for only a few hours to meet kids, etc. Despite having not placed a nanny with us, Doug Kozinn and Saul Moskowitz charged my credit card without my approval or signature for nearly $7,000 and then refused to refund the money, even after their candidate confirmed with them that she had not taken the job. I made repeated attempts to beg for them to return the money and even offered to let them keep a portion. They refused. Then they made veiled threats about government agencies possibly investigating my IRS nanny tax compliance and workers comp compliance when I began reviewing them negatively. (I'm in compliance so it didn't scare me.) I have had to get my lawyer and American Express involved. I have complained to the NY atty general and the Better Business Bureau. I spoke to several other agencies and have used other agencies before and industry practice is to allow a 7 to 10 day "grace period" before considering a nanny placed. Other agencies said they had heard similar stories about ABC. Saul and Doug do not run an ethical business. They committed credit card fraud against me. There are many other agencies and ways to hire a nanny; don't tangle with these people. They are bad people who prey on desperate parents and take no pride in their work.

We used Absolute Best Care to hire a part-time nanny. It didn?t turn out well. It took them more than a month to find the first candidate and after 2 months had only found 3 potential nannies (one of whom didn?t show up for her interview). We hired one of the other two but had to fire her a few weeks later. They refused to refund our money (few thousand dollars) or the severance that we had to pay the nanny based on their contract. We would never recommend them.
