Orkin Pest Control

I am very happy. Very rarely do we see any gnats or spiders. No roaches or anything like that. I like Orkin. The guy prepares us. He knows what he is doing. We pay on a monthly basis.

I had so many issues getting mosquito treatment started up last year and I made the mistake of thinking this year would be better.
This year I called to get my spraying started up because it was April and I still hadn't been called by Orkin as I was told I would. The first time I called, nobody answered. I left a voicemail and to nobody's surprise, no one called me back. A few days later I called again and was able to get a service scheduled for mosquitos. I also need carpenter bees removed from my home and that was set up for the same day / time. Everything would be handled together.
On this past Saturday the technician arrived on time (which is a miracle for Orkin) and informed me that he could spray but because the bees were higher up on my house, he needed a ladder. Then he tells me  his truck was in the shop and this truck for the day didn't have a ladder on it. He asked if I had one to lend him but I don't. During the conversation he made it sound like he was going to get one and come back later that day. 
However, after he was done spraying he then corrected himself saying that he'd have to go all the way back to New Hyde Park to get the ladder and it wasn't possible. He offered to return Tuesday to handle the bees. I let him know nobody would be home and he said that was okay. He could still complete the job.
By noon on Tuesday I still hadn't heard anything so I contacted Orkin once more. I was now informed that this technician forgot to put in the work order and nobody is coming. Now I have an appointment for the next day. Last year was a sign I should take my bussiness elsewhere and frankly after this ordeal I think I'm done with Orkin once this bee issue is done. I will be using LawnDoctor for all future service after today.

This company will make you wait weeks for an appointment and then not show up. Then when I asked for a refund they claimed the technician serviced the perimeter of my home. That is impossible because we have security fence all around us that is always locked. When I called to ask for a refund, they offered me half. When I said do what is fair and give me a total refund since zero service was provided, they refused and  told me to go ahead and cancel.
Too bad since they did a decent job of wiping out our spider and centipede problem when they did show up. Although their product does leave drip marks on the walls so if you have flat paint be careful.

We have a yearly inspection just to make sure that the termites don't come back. The termites had a nest outside and so I got worried.  Sometimes he may point out that there was a mouse around. He spends around 45 minutes going around. I just know where the termite damage was, but they know that that is not anything new. We have been using them for about 2 years now. We chose them because they are reputable and I didn't see any bad reviews about them on Angie's List and I felt more confident choosing them. They are very coordinated, because they first had to look for where the termites are and then they put the poison in there and that is a bit of an operation. They came in late and when I called, the dispatcher person sounded surprised that we were expecting someone that day. The guy who came in was very apologetic about lateness and he was very professional, he wasn't rushing and anything like that.

Overall, okay.

I recommended them.  I have an ongoing contract with them for termites. The first year you pay for all the work they do and the main thing is to keep it just that way. They came for their yearly inspection.  Last year it was a$188 and the year before that when they did the initial stuff it was $1500.  They are very knowledgeable about termites. They know termites and they know their habits and so forth and so on.  They were able to tell quickly that it at one time it had compromised the house and that was before I lived here. They said it was not happening now and that’s the way we want to keep it.  The guy who comes out to do my service is John Murray and he would give you his cell phone number and his office number. He is very knowledgeable and polite.  He is not pushy and he tells you what you need to know.  The thought of having termites is just horrendous.  They were doing a very complete job the first year.  $188 for a year is like an insurance policy. 

The job went fine.  They came over and looked at the place and did the work.  So far I have not seen any signs of the termites.  I would rate them little lower than excellent.  I would still rate them an A because I have not seen any termites so far.  They were good overall.  I will use them again in the future if needed.

I got an estimate from them over the phone and then I used them.  They were fine.  They were very professional.  They did what they were supposed to do.  They took care of us.  The price they charged is the same as others are charging.  I would recommend them to others mainly because of their professionalism.  They have not eradicated the problem yet, but that was the first time I have used them.  They were very responsive and punctual.

We contacted Orkin because we were extremely unsatisfied with our previous provider of pest control.  We were looking for a company that was more proactive in pest prevention as much as control.  Orkin made a very good first impression with a very thorough assessment of the house and set traps (individual snap traps, glue traps and tin cats)  For the most part they have been punctual for their appointments however they did miss one and then inform us that we would have to wait a week to reschedule (I was not happy.)  We have been consistently catching 1-2 mice over the course of the 3 months intervals between service.  They have identified entry points into the house that I subsequently sealed however we were still having persistent problems.  They scheduled someone to come and look at the crawl space under the family room to try and identify where the mice might be gaining entry which I really appreciated they then sealed a hole that they had found.  Net net is we have stuck with them and things seem to be improving after they sealed the crawl space, but this time of year is the true test so the jury is still out.

I have a contract with them and they come quarterly. They come and do a thorough check and I can call them back as often as I need them. They will notify you in advance of your appointment and they are very prompt. They are pretty good and I will continue to use them in the future. They check everywhere that I ask them to check.

It was very good. They not only check the crawl space, which many pest control companies wouldn't do, but they check the entire house when they visit.

Overall, the service went well. I had found them through another company on the List, Western Pest Services. They offered me a 5% discount. They will come out and provide services as needed throughout the year. The price was very much in the same ballpark as others that I had received estimates from. They were also very knowledgeable.
