Once the tree was removed they immediately began work on reconstruction. This required coordination of a sequence of activities, some performed by subcontractors.
- Architect and historic restoration consultants to assess structural damage and recommend remediation
- Custom window contractor to rebuild historic windows with diamond panes
- Framing specialists to repair the damaged roof trusses
- Custom lumber cutting to match the original damaged structural members
- Rebuilding a chimney destroyed by the tree
- Roofing contractor to replace roof sheathing and reroof the whole house
- Asbestos mitigation contractor to remove asbestos tile roofing from an earlier generation
- Painters to repaint the exterior
- Plaster and gypsum board contractor for interior repairs
- Interior decorators to repaint and wallpaper the damaged rooms
- Flooring specialist to refinish floors
- Complete cleanup of the property after the work was completed
- Coordination with the town Construction Official throughout the project to assure regulatory compliance.
Throughout the project the project manager from Hudson Valley DKI was in daily contact with us, as well as the supervisors of each of the subcontractors. Thanks to the overall management oversight the entire project and the quality of the prime contractor's staff as well as the subcontractors, the work went smoothly over the 5 months of work required to restore the house to and quot;like newand quot; condition.
