The owner operator, Mark McDermott, used sub par asphalt mix for my driveway. I ended up making complaints to the Rockland County Consumer Protection office who issued 3 violations and they are still waiting to hear back from him regarding their violations. I was forced to file a civil court lawsuit based on his final statement that he wasn't going to refund my money or replace the driveway. He stated he didn't have the money to repair or replace my driveway along with others he said were affected by this sub-par mix. He actually told me to "Sue him". I did and I Won a judgment in that case against Reliable Paving on October 20, 2016 . I had previously tried for 2 months to work with him on the issue without any satisfaction.
The owner admitted buying this mix from a supplier in NJ and admitted the mix didn't contain the proper ingredients causing it not to bind properly in sections. It is also extremely porous. It is apparent he tried to save money on his end. He stated they weren't his normal suppliers from Haverstraw, NY. The driveway is coming apart in sections only months after completion. I got Nothing but, excuses and haven't heard back from him in over 2 months despite original assurances he would refund my money and make good on this issue. He also claimed he would be out of business by next year (very doubtful on that claim). He had nothing but a litany of excuses lined up coupled with sob stories about his lack of capital despite his 1 year warranty. The warranty basically amounts to nothing and not worth the paper it's written upon. Be very careful with the owner. He once had a good reputation and was referred to me by others who used his service? He does a lot of work in Rockland county, NY. I was and am very disappointed in Reliable Paving's Service.
