Stay away from him. Tom just collected money and send a subcontractor to work in our house. He left all decisions for us to figure ourselves. Gave us allowance for the material to low that we had to pay additional money for all materials. Left our demolished kitchen untouched for 2 weeks. Paint job was done without any preparations - just smear paint on the dirty and dusty walls. Tom is instead of being helpful just threatening and intimidating .

This is the second time we have used Empire State. We had them previously redo our deck. Based on that experience we contracted them to redo an upstairs bathroom. While that project was going on, we added the other two items. They are fantastic to work with. From the estimate to the project completion Mark ( the project manager) Marcelo and George (the artisans) were on time, courteous, responsive, flexible when necessary, and professional. All that and the jobs completed were top-notch and on budget! At this point, they are our go-to contractors. No reason to look elsewhere!

When we decided to finally remodel two very dated bathrooms, we met with a few contractors. My mother recommended Empire State Builders because she had used them in the past and we ended up going with them. This was our first time doing major work in our house and we could not be happier with the experience! They were here when they said they would be here, worked hard and efficiently, and did great work. Mark was terrific to work with - he communicated well and was very responsive. Marcelo and George were incredible workers and just lovely people. We highly recommend Empire State Builders and would definitely use them again!

My experience with Empire State Builders was, without a doubt, the BEST professional relationship I have ever had with a contractor! Mark and Luis (M&L) are THE dream team and working with them was fantastic. The task of identifying and repairing a drain leak to be finished with a complete remodel of a bathroom can potentially be a nightmare waiting to happen. But under the supervision of M&L, our new bathroom turned out to be an absolute dream! And a much-deserved mention goes to their talented and expert craftsman, Edwin, who applied his skill to put wonderful touches of detail that would be easy to miss but are very much appreciated when they are seen! Mark and Luis provided my wife and me with so much confidence in their capabilities, we contracted them to tackle the long-awaited renovation of our kitchen BEFORE they even started work on our bathroom! Much like what they provided with regards to our bathroom, M&L explained EVERYTHING to expect and will come at each step of the kitchen reno. They were very patient while my wife and I flip-flopped on aesthetic details. And their collective experiences helped us make decisions that would not only prolong the beauty of our spaces, but add personal, as well as financial value to our home. Our house still have a number of areas we'd like to update. When we do, there is absolutely no doubt we will be contacting Mark and Luis (with hopefully Edwin, in tow) to take our home to that next level. Thanks guys for all your incredible work!

Thank you to Mark and his team for completing a beautiful bathroom renovation in our new home. We first reached out to Mark in the summer and he really took his time to walk us through the process and gave us quotes/ideas for other areas in my home that day. He also just finished a bathroom and kitchen renovation in my mom’s house, so I was able to see his beautiful work firsthand. Although it took a couple of months to think through what I wanted, he was able to squeeze me in before their company closed for the holidays, which I greatly appreciated. We were told it would take two weeks to complete upon all materials being ordered and he kept to his word. The entire process went smoothly - we were in constant communication and he came by each day to make sure everything was moving along smoothly. Louie and his crew were efficient, reliable and kept their work area tidy, which I appreciated. We did an entire gut renovation from new floors, new shower, new tiles, new fixtures, etc. and we are so pleased with how it turned out. There were no hidden fees and the price was exactly what we discussed when we first met. I also appreciated that he always kept our budget in mind and worked with us to figure something out that was within our range. A few weeks after installation, we noticed there was a small leak coming from our toilet and Mark was just a phone call away. His team came back to fix the issue with no problem. Most importantly, this showed me that they cared even after their project was done and they want to truly make their customers happy and satisfied with their work. I would highly recommend Mark for any home projects, especially bathroom renovation. Fair price, no up charge, knowledgeable and reliable.

Marc and his crew were excellent. Kept us informed as to what was going on with material delays. Ended up doing the Sun Room first and the deck two months later because of delays getting materials. Project went pretty fast after that and now have a beautiful deck.

I first met Mark while gathering quotes for a deck replacement. My wood deck was old and I knew I wanted to replace it with composite. The few contractors I met with before did not leave me with a confident feeling that they had worked on many decks like mine. They offered no suggestions or advice on design or color, but simply took measurements. After listening to what I wanted to do, Mark offered suggestions on color and style. After speaking with him on several visits, I had a gut feeling that I was choosing the best contractor. Then, while finishing my deck waiting for some backordered boards due to Covid, I had a tree fall on the side of my house in a windstorm. My new deck was mostly spared, but my siding and house and property was quite damaged. I called Mark as we were still in contract for the deck and told him of our bad fortune. Needless to say he came by that morning and even offered to get his chain saw and help me cut some of the tree away from the house! He was more than helpful in advising me on next best steps. I had not experienced an insurance claim and damage like this before and having someone who knew what I was up against was key. This happened in November, and even with bad weather and scheduling, Mark and his team were able to get the job completed before the holidays. This included demo of old siding, installing new vinyl siding and alum facia and window capping. My deck and house look great! During both jobs Mark was always available and very responsive to my calls and any concerns I had as the work proceeded. I would hire Mark and Empire again without any doubt.

Started renovation 11/2020 - Remains unfinished (punch list includes cracked cabinet) at least until 2/1/2021 as company closed since before new year. Lack of response from company. At the end, their priority was getting payment (they even asked for final payment before complete "to help them out") and unfortunately, I paid in full - trusted them to complete punch list in timely fashion. Once I paid, they never return a phone call and the answer to my texts is company is closed until 2/1/2021. They were in a rush to finish as they knew they were closing but did not communicate this to me. Updated 9/24/2024:This is just in response to his unprofessional response being personal. It was all business related. And he threatened to sue me for writing a bad review with this service!

"Information given by customer is incorrect, first of all price was not 20k!, it was 17k., she signed a contract for new kitchen, kitchen was installed ,came out perfect ,and she paid. She has a door on back order. It took her 2 years to make decision, and said she interviewed 30 contractors ,she picked us because of our 35 years of experience, expertise ,and excellant communication. Very unfortunate she has personal issues beyond our control. job completed on 2/19, said she would remove false review, lied ,never did.?."

Marc from Empire State Builders and Contractors was fantastic. He came out immediately to evaluate the project and was able to give me an estimate the same day. This was important because it showed he valued my inquiry and secondly I always want the price quoted to be the actual price of the project. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and gave me recommendations about the paint, and the different options I had. I was very happy that he provided options from the top paint manufactures (Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams). His estimate was very reasonable and did not change at the end of the project. He was also able to get the job ASAP, which was great. His team contacted me immediately and set up a mutually convenient date to start. My deck and playset now look great -- they were both definitely in need of a good refinishing and painting. My family and I are very satisfied with the work and it looks great. Really professional job. Marc personally checked on the project until it's completion. Marc was very professional throughout the entire process, and provided contracts/receipts etc in a timely fashion. I highly recommend them, and I will certainly be using Empire State for my next project!

The work went very smoothly and the quality of work was excellent. Mark, my main contact at Empire, was always reachable and extremely responsive to phone calls and texts. He explained everything about the process and answered all of my questions promptly. He knows the Westchester area very well and knows the ins-and-outs of getting permits and timing of how things go. He also has connections with quality licensed electricians and plumbers, which we ended up engaging, given the nature of the remodel. As to the actual work, Empire worked quickly and efficiently. My home was cleaned up after each day of work. Mark made some design recommendations here and there, which we appreciated. For example, Mark mentioned about a sink front tray for storing sponges. I didn't even know about it, but I thought was a great idea, so we ended up getting it. Since our project included tearing walls down, Mark forewarned us about potential piping and etc. that could be inside walls that may require extra work. When we had issues (such as potentially rerouting pipes), per Mark's recommendation, we had licensed plumber and electrician weigh in on how to proceed and with the their input we felt we had a better grasp on how to decide on moving forward. Empire also has connections to very good cabinet and countertop vendors. While we got our tiles and other items from Home Depot, we ended up getting our kitchen cabinet, countertop, and bathroom vanity top from a vendor he recommended. The quality of the materials were very good and the vendor had a wider selection of countertops than Home Depot offered. Several weeks after the construction was completed, he checked up on us, which we appreciated. If you are looking to do a remodel project, I highly recommend Mark and Empire. Note: The approximate cost of service I entered below excludes materials and includes entire cost of labor (Empire + electrician + plumbing). We ended up engaging the electrician and plumber that Empire recommended separately. Materials probably cost about $20K. So the entire project cost us about $50K

Horrible. The roof leaked so I called the company and they did not send anyone for ten months! The roof still leaked after the tried to fix it. after many attempts to get them to finally fix the roof I had to call another company.

Demo'd and remodeled 2 adjoining bathrooms. Took several weeks but they worked every day and put in long hours despite the summer heat. Contractor was as pleasant and professional as could be. Result: couldn't be more pleased with the outcome! Bathrooms "sparkle". No complaints or controversies. Will definitely use them again.

Everything went well.  They started on a Friday and were done by Tuesday (Did not work on Saturday and Sunday).  Very punctial. Price was extemely competetive.
They removal of a roof can be very messy.  This did a good job cleaning up after.  Tom the owner was there everyday to review the job and make sure everything was on schedule.  He was able to make a suggestion on a color of the shingles.
