Overall the job went very well. The foreman (Raul) was excellent. He did the best he could with a badly weathered side of the house. The rest of the house looks fine. I had to remind them of the promise to caulk around all the windows. Raul came back very quickly and rectified the situation. The overall appearance is very nice. The clean up could have been better. I am still finding paint chips in my flower beds. I would use CertaPro again.

The interaction with the person scheduling the appointment was very good. I missed our first appointment, but Alan was very friendly in rescheduling that appt. the same day. Reviewing the work when he arrived was straightforward as well. However, several points of the interaction detriment the overall experience with this company. First, after the review of work-to-be-done finished, some questions asked were, "If I gave you a good price today, would you hire us?", "Are you looking at other contractors?", "What has been your history with contractors?", i.e. questions that have nothing to do with actually painting the house. They seems like posturing or strategic questions. I would rather hear as a homeowner, "What problems could you foresee with this work and how do I solve them?". Instead, the former questions pose as, "What can I do to prevent other people from getting this work?". They may be standard questions established by the company (CertaPro is a franchise), but they do not support a good vibe in general. Second, and most important, CertaPro would not guarantee that the individuals that painted my house would have legal authorization to work in the United States. Aside from being against the law, this adherence demonstrates a lack of due diligence...and ethics. History with a good set of painters possibly with unsavory hiring practices may supply confidence in future work, but it does not discount the fact that engaging in illegal employment is the wrong thing to do. Some may say, "That's just the way the industry works." That dismissive tack is a euphemism, and a simple choice. The company can choose to act that way or not. In this case, because they chose to engage in this behavior, I chose to look for another company.

We could not be happier with the results!  This is the third time we have painted our house in the 20 years we have lived here and this is the best painting job we have ever had! Their attention to detail is incredible and the results are outstanding! Daniel and his crew were a pleasure to work with!  I didn't think it was possible for our house and deck to ever look this amazing, since it is an older home!  The only glitch was an unexpected thunder storm that occurred an hour after they finished the deck.  This ruined the deck and caused the staining to splash up on the freshly painted house.  They came out a few days later and fixed everything, and it looks better than ever!  We are recommending them to all of our friends and would definitely use them again!  Their quote was $200. and $800. less than the other two painters we got estimates from, and the quality of their work was top notch!

to stain the deck and paint the railing. Dan, the owner of the certa pro franchise came and inspected the deck and the garage doors. he gave us an estimate for both in addition to the front railing. On the agreed upon date, his painters came, removed all deck equipment to our backyard, powerwashed the deck and the garage doors. After it dried, over the weekend, they came back to stain the deck and paint the railing. 
I asked them when they they plan to put all the deck furniture back in the way they found it originally. They said they would return the next day. At the end of the next day, no one appeared. We had to call Dan and he said it would be done the next day. When it wasn't done the next day, we called again and he said it was his mistake and it would be done the following day. The furniture was put on the deck without putting anything back into the order in which they found it. We had to restore everything. There afterwards, we found  two spots on the deck that apparently had not been stained because the white undercoating still appeared. We called Dan again and he said that it would be taken care of the next day. When no one came, I took care of it today
However during this.  process a question arose, Why was there still one full gallon untouched of stain still available? I question whether they estimated this job correctly.
Certa pro sent a survey of their work immediately after they considered it complete. Subsequent events do not support the rating i gave them initially.

The paint job itself came out fine.  However, I have to rate them a "B" for their sloppiness. The two painters got excess paint in my outlets and I had to have them come back to clean them up. They wanted to use my stainless steel kitchen sink to put water in a large paint bucket, but I sent them downstairs to use my slop sink. By the time they were done, I had paint splashes on the faucet knobs, the faucet itself, on the slop sink legs, water on the floor, and a wet garbage can (next to the slop sink). They called themselves cleaning up but didn't do a good job. I complained to the job coordinator and he asked them to try again. I'm not sure if the painter just didn't see the entire mess or what, but I was pretty exasperated and opted to clean up the rest myself.  Maybe I'm naïve, but I expect professionals not to get excess paint in sockets or mess up the sink and sink area that badly. 

 I have to note another item (paint smell), which I didn't mention to the job coordinator.  It lingered for at least 3 weeks and was quite strong.  I'm not sure why as I wouldn't expect it to last that long.

Lastly, the company did stick to the quoted price and I had no issues with the job coordinator; he was professional and responsive.

In response to the reply by the local CertaPro franchisee's comments:

The only reason my emails were answered was because I complained to the Corporate headquarters.
Your reply to an email I had sent 2 weeks prior was that Corporate had asked you to contact me.

I heard nothing again for another 2 weeks until I contacted corporate a second time (after advising you in an email that I was going to do so), and they required you to email me.

When you offered to send a painter over, I asked you when that would happen. Your answer was "next week". When I asked for a day in a later email, you said "Tuesday". When I asked you a third time for an actual time, you finally gave me a time on Tuesday, only to break the appointment and reschedule it.

The work was reviewed by your painter, and was corrected with very little additional work required. In fact, the workman suggested not to even cover the patch with paint because it was a white wall. I had him cover the patch with paint.

There was no mention until after my second email to corporate that stress cracks could return. They should not return less than 3 months after the initial work.

This franchisee does not understand that if he submits his work to social media, social media will detail his flaws, giving him the opportunity to correct them. Instead, his attitude is that the customer is wrong to complain in public about poor service, not only from the original painters, but from the owner of the franchise. He needs to get on the program.


An update 3 months later:

One of the walls painted by Certapro developed cracks under where the wall was taped and patched. I have left emails and phone calls over the last two weeks with no response.


When I called I mentioned a coupon for a $100 complete room that was on Angies, but was told it shouldn't have been up. We worked out a price for the work that was acceptable.
Painters came on time. They did the work, but did not clean up properly, as they only had a floor brush to clean a carpet that got dusty when they spackled. There were a few spots that needed a touchup. 
I would have marked that I would use this provider in the future, but when I advised him of the problems and asked for a quote on another larger project, he just asked about the new project without acknowledging the concerns I had with the work that was done.

Everything went very well. Sergio did a great job. He was early, professional, and neat.

Excellent communication and punctuality. Dan the owner was very professional and Rahul the painter was professional as we'll. we are very happy with the paint job.

There was an initial visit to look at the job, and then a date was set to come and paint. Both Mr Kader who looked at the job, and the painter who performed the work were very courteous. Mr. Kader answered all my emails promptly. The work done was perfect. they moved the furniture, spackled whatever needed spackling, left no mess at all afterwards, and left a labelled can of paint. It was a pleasure. I feel very comfortable recommending this company highly.

Very professional, prompt and courteous. Dan and team did a great job. They arrived on time, protected my floors and stairs leading to rooms being painted, worked quickly and left the house in great shape. Rooms look great! A great deal! i've already made a follow up appointment for additional services.

They were pretty bad, they quoted one price and changed the price after they finished the job. They painted the wrong colors. They used one color on one area and went to get more paint and used another color on another area. They still have not yet fixed the colors.

The 2 painters that were sent came on time. They find a great job, answered any of my questions. And cleaned up after themselves.

First, the sales representative met with us to discuss project and provide color samples. After we chose the colors, within two days they sent 2 people to remove wall papers. Next they finished painting the kitchen and bathrooms with our chosen color and finished the project within 4 days as promised. They cleaned up reasonably well after they finished work.

After informing him of choosing Certapro, Daniel was in regular contact setting up our getting paint samples at the local Sherwin-Williams store and arranging the work to meet our schedule of a first week in June completion.  The house and deck were fully power washed on Day 1, taped and prepped for spraying on Day 2, house sprayed with 2 coats on Day 3 and the deck stained with semi-transparent on the rails and a solid on the floor, and the house trim paint on windows and doors on Day 4.   All in all a job very well and nicely done and we couldn't be more pleased.  Would recommend them to anyone, anytime.  Many thanks Dan and to your crew as well!

Overall Certa Pro Painters are professional, courteous, timely and made sure all concerns were addressed.

CertaPro Painters of Rockland County are great.  Someone came to my home and went through every room, took notes and asked specifics on what I envisioned. He also made suggestions.  Asked specfically as to trims, ceiling, closets, type of paints, etc.  Provided estimate and finalized with day to start.  The staff was on time as agreed.  Staff was very professional and made sure that they explained what will happen.  They made sure to cover all areas properly and cleaned after their painting.  I wa very impressed by this company and staff.  I would definitely recommend to others.

Dan spent an hour with me when he gave me the estimate to really
understand what I needed and he delivered in spades.  I am so pleased
with the work and the timeliness of the job.  I wanted the work done right away and Dan said he would try and I thought he would call and say no but we emailed back and forth (very convenient because I work full time and don't have time to talk on the phone all the time) and his men were early on the first day my first choice of date for the job,   I did not prep work because I was busy at work and CertaPro did not complain or comment once - they just worked around my clutter and the rooms were in better order after they were done than when they began.  The job was supposed to be done in 4-5 days with 3-4 guys but only 2 people were available that week and they stayed late and worked Saturday to get it done - and done right.  Great Quality and Great work!
