V & T GENERAL CONTRACTOR INC

The contractor couldn't get his good guy. The guy that came over to do the work was just what cracked me up. I never ever watch soccer and every Friday night when I came home and turned on my TV, it was on the Spanish soccer channel. This guy just sat in my apartment and nothing was done. The contractor called me to say that his good guy was somewhere else on another job for a while. It was the most unbelievable thing. He was a very nice older gentleman. I kept trying to work with him and tell him not to do this and not to do that. I finally had to get rid of him too. He ended up taking me to small claims court because I refused to pay him the final. I had pictures and I had proof that he only did a third of the work. Small claims court made me pay the full amount. He brought an attorney in and made me pay the full amount. I gave him a check for $6000.00 and the contract took place. After three and a half weeks, the ceiling was trashed and the column was trashed. They enclosed the BX cables inside the column so it had to be opened again. They ripped out the drywall and punched it with a hammer to drop in the cables for the new lights and just plastered over the entire thing. When I cut him loose, he sent me an invoice for $7200.00. I ended up paying him an extra $1300.00 in court with interest. His name was Lou. I couldn't believe it when I saw him in court. He actually came to court for $1200.00 and hired an attorney. I put a counter claim to get the $6000.00 back and the judge didn't even entertain me. The contract amount was $17000.00. I gave him $6000.00. When I cut him loose, he sent me the invoice for $7200.00 and I flipped out. He didn't do one-third of the work and the work he did do was horrendous. His guy sat in my house watching Spanish soccer all day and nothing would get done for weeks at a time. He kept saying that I should wait for his good guy from Jersey. When I saw the drywall ceiling ripped open with a hammer and the BX stuffed up into the little crawlspace above the drywall, my head was spinning. When he slapped all the plaster back on to the column next to the kitchen sink, I was horrified. I got them as a recommendation from a woman who had their guy from Jersey doing the job. I suppose he is the only guy that can do anything.
