FINDLAY MOVING & STORAGE- Allied Van Lines

Before my move, Findlay asked me if I wanted to take out insurance. I assumed this insurance would cover an accident/fire/theft involving the truck containing my goods. I checked with my insurance company and they said they'd cover my goods during the move, so I declined to take Findlay's insurance.
During the move, Findlay's employees broke two pieces of furniture. In one case they failed to sufficiently dis-assemble a dining room hutch which then broke apart when they moved it. In the second case they failed to sufficiently protect a Chinese chest which then had its side smashed in by one of their own moving dollies.
Findlay refused to compensate me for the broken furniture, other than making an offer of a small fraction of the furniture's value. They say I should have taken out the insurance they offered me. I checked with my insurance company, but they refused to pay, saying that they obviously wouldn't cover breakage caused by the moving company's own employees.
In my opinion, I've paid the company to safely move my goods from one place to another. I shouldn't have to buy insurance to ensure that they do their job properly.
