chimney sweep, chimney repair

Description of Work: I made an appt. with Clean Cut to have my chimney cleaned. I was told that the chimney was in bad shape, and would need a liner to prevent further damage to the interior walls. Not knowing any better I agreed to have the work done. A job that should have taken two days took three weeks. The liner was put in on the first day of the job, and left hanging out of the chimney for the three weeks it took them to come back. Many calls were to Clean Cut but all I got was an answering machine. Once the job was finally completed and the heat was turned on a strange odor started coming from the fireplace. I later learned this was carbon monoxide which could have caused major problems, luckily the room was well ventolated. The summer of 2011, I had someone else check the chimney, and was told there was no problem and there was no need for the liner,he pulled it out. The odors were caused by the fact that the heat ducts were never connected to the liner and was backing up into the rooms. This company and the people involed with are nothing but scam artist. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!!!!!

 + 0 moreThey called up and said they were in our area. We agreed to have them come out and they came out that day. They cleaned the chimney. They took pictures inside the chimney and showed us the issue that was going on and they were able to repair it immediately. Part of the chimney was falling and if it fell completely it could cause a blockage and carbon monoxide would be allowed to come into the house. That was good. They were nice guys - I felt the work they did was good, but I have two complaints, too. They left junk around, like some of the pieces that came down on the top of the chimney they just left on the ground. In the furnace room they threw their rubber gloves on the floor behind the furnace. I still haven't gotten back there to get them out, they just kind of threw their garbage back there. I also didn't think it was cool that he got out of his truck and was talking to me while smoking, this was on my property and while I was holding my baby who was only a few months old. The main reason I wouldn't hire them back is because of the garbage and the smoking.
