My family and I have been using Dwight Getting HVAC for at least 10 years. Our most recent project was this current year, 2024. I can say that we have only experienced fair prices, honest and effective work, and professionalism from this company. They also seem to prioritize their clients’ needs and helped us out quickly when one of our units was not working properly in the middle of a heat wave. We have used them to service all of our units, for general maintenance, to replace an old unit when we moved into our new home, and install a new system in an addition that we built. We have never had any issues with Dwight Getting HVAC and we will continue to use them in the future.

We have been using this company for HVAC needs for several years (at least 10). They always find the time to fit us in and seem to prioritize their clients based on the needs of the issues at hand. When one of our units had an issue during a heat wave, they made time to come out and get to the bottom of the issue. They are extremely knowledgeable, very honest, and stand by their products. We have never had an issue, with communication, quotes, or quality of work. I would highly suggest them and plan to use them in the future.

I have used this company for a while. Something changed. They did work while I was away and charged over $3,000 last summer. I would not pay this amount and they agreed to accept $2,000. After all that, the unit stopped working this weekend. When I called to ask that they come back and fix what they didn't fix last summer, they refused to come because I wouldn't pay the full amount. How ethical is that? Don't use them. Don't trust them!!

Charged me over $2000 to fix my upstairs unit. 2 weeks later it’s blowing hot air. Can back again and 2 weeks later blowing hot air. Didn’t answer emails, calls or texts. It got to 93 degrees in my house and finally had to pay another AC company to do the job correctly.

Technician Rick was knowledgable and told me the next time someone comes out, to include a water additive as mine water was not yellow as it should be. My big problem is that they charge for technician's travel time to you and with rates of $125/first half hour and $125/hour thereafter, that's downright wrong esp. when plumbing techs earn $25/hour. I understand there are other overhead costs but that's wrong esp. since Dwight Getting is not a LICENSED plumber! Dwight is quite the salesman; he boasts that the difference between him and a plumber is 5 questions on the licensing exam. Westchester Consumer Protect Agency officer says it's more than just 5 questions. It's only after I complained to Dwight about being charged for driving time and that I would file a complaint with WCPA, that he would adjust my bill and gave me a measly $50 refund to my credit card which is low considering I paid $125 for Rick's 1/2 hr travel to me! Prior to service, Dwight Getting office staff, Christine, would not give an idea on how long my maintenance would take but only quoted me the hourly rates. Next time, I'll use Aqueduct Plumbing in Valhalla as they are licensed plumbers and quoted me $435 for the boiler maintenance including the Weil Maclain kit. Note: be forewarned that a lot of plumbers and other contractors do not quote an hourly rate but say they charge by the project so are hiding travel times and padding possible time back to you for any mishaps. If nothing goes wrong, great for you but it's extra money in their pockets!

Used them for them for over thirty years. Very happy with them. I let them in, and they took care of it, and left. A couple of hours. Excellent.

He does good work. He is dependable. He is in the area. He’s been taking care of the heating and air conditioning for the past 20 years.

Dwight Getting installed a high efficiency Lennox HVAC and a tankless water heater that he highly recommended for $14,150. His motto is to do the job right the first time. He didn't do the job right the first time, or the 5th time, or the 10th time. Neither system worked properly. After one year of failed attempts, he quit and refused to do anymore work. I was forced to call in other contractors. An expert, declared the tankless water heater was a mis application. A Con Ed (local utility company) inspector said it was a safety hazard. He condemned it and shut it down. I tried to call Dwight Getting and he said not to contact him. I paid over $6,000 to have the tankless water system removed and replaced.
I notified the BBB. The Consumer Protection Board found him in violation of Deceptive Trade Practices Prohibited and fined him $250. The Westchester Licensing Board fined him $5000 for doing plumbing work without a license. A hearing was held for doing electrical work without a license that he failed to attend. The tankless water heater manufacturer removed him from their website because he wasn't qualified to do the work.
His sons Bryan and Anthony work with Dwight Getting and they are competent workers and so are Rick and Tom. The entire fault is Dwight Gettings. He designed the installation and laid out the work. He was not familiar with the equipment he installed. The tankless water heater was a total failure. It was a safety hazard and had to be removed.
HVAC is the mainstay of Dwight Gettings business. Even there he had problems. The first humidifier he installed didn't create enough humidity. Neither did the second humidifier. He didn't know what to do so a field rep was brought in and approved the third humidifier. Another problem was balancing the system. My previous system worked satisfactory. Dwight Getting reconfigured the ducts and then was unable to balance the system. After the installation he said "You never know which way the air is going to go." He tried but couldn't balance the system.
He didn't keep his word or stand behind his work. I highly recommend not using Dwight Getting for any type of work.
My problem now is that my utility bills have increased considerably instead of decreasing with the high efficiency Lennox system. I live in a split level house with four levels. With my previous system the house was comfortable on all four levels. Dwight Getting rearranged the ducts and now my house is comfortable only on two levels. This has to do with balancing the system which Dwight Getting was unable to do. I chose Dwight Getting because he was on the Lennox website. I thought he would be reputable and he wasn't. Lennox's policy is when there is a problem they will only send out a field rep when a contractor is present. I can't use Dwight Getting and no other contractor wants to get involved because they didn't do the work. Lennox has a contractor on their website who was removed from another manufactures website and fined $250 for Deceptive Trade Practices Prohibited and fined $5000 for doing plumbing work without a license. At the present time, I am in negotiations with Lennox. Hopefully this will all work out.

I had thrown four other HVAC contractors off my property before I found Dwight Getting. I had thoroughly researched my problem and observed that the inline filter/dryer on the outside condenser unit was clogged: frost was forming on the liquid/high pressure line starting at the end of the filter, google it. Despite this testimony, after seeing the nearly 10-year old, weathered outdoor unit, three other contractors tried to 'sell' me anything from 'system pressure testing and leak detection' starting at $550, 8 lbs of freon and coil cleaning for $650, a new compressor starting at $2,000, or a new condenser unit starting at $3,500. None would listen to my observations (or they thought I didn't know what I was talking about and believed they could still sell me something that I did not need). Having scoured Angie's List and the Yellow Pages, I tried Dwight Getting because he was one of the few contractors in the area that had his full name on his business--I at least respected his accountability from the start.
After speaking with Dwight promptly, he scheduled technician Rick for the service. Rick arrived on-time, listened to my concerns/previous experiences and got to work. As he started evacuating the system, the tell-tale frosting formed again and confirmed his and my suspicions about the filter/dryer. NOTE: while the 15 minute evacuation procedure was occurring, Rick started installing the new filter/dryer in the new location, he could have wasted time by waiting for the evacuation to complete, but he did not have to because of the features of my system--bonus points for saving me a few minutes labor! Since it was an original factory-installed filter/dryer, removing the old one took some time. When that was done, he pressurized the system with 350 psi on nitrogen and let it sit for 10 minutes to check for leaks (others told me this would take hours....). The pressure gauge needle did not budge in 10 minutes. Also before recharging, he pulled a vacuum on the system, another simple 10 minute procedure to lower the risk of moisture contamination--my old 'regular' service guy never did that before adding freon. (Why had he added freon? Because he never evacuated the system and verified a leak. Apparently the clogged filter led him to believe the unit was low on freon. In all, Rick evacuated 11.5 lbs of freon from the system, system specs were for 8.5-9.0 lbs. Because the old service guy never bothered with the 15 minute procedure to evacuate and weigh the freon, he had grossly overcharged the system.) With only the filter/dryer replacement and the proper freon charge, compressor fired right up and has run perfectly through the following record-breaking heatwave without a glitch.
Sorry for the gory details, but it was needed to show that there are still professional contractors out there that just do their work and do it well, rather than relying on the assumed gullibility of consumers to pad their wallets. Dwight Getting has been in the business for 30(?) years and attaches his name and reputation to his work and his reputation, kudos. All in, less than $550 for the nearly 4 hours of labor and a nominal charge for the part. I could not recommend him more favorably: this is the type of business ethic that made this a great country, he should be rewarded for doing it well!
