I called Bob's after we had trouble controlling the temp in our refrigerator.  They were courteous and managed to get someone to us the next day- great, I thought, considering it's a few days before Christmas.  The service tech arrived in the window promised.  He told me  that the part and labor  would be more than the fridge is worth because it has a computer in it.

But it's not the repair that was an issue so much as the experience. After our dog barked at him, the repairman told me a story about how he had killed another customer's dog because it attacked him. Justified or not, I was put off by the story as a dog owner.  Then when he left,  he made the comment that we're trying really hard to buy appliances he can't repair ( you know, those rare and exotic Frigidaires)   and  he doesn't know who's going to fix them.

His service or may not have been good, but the attitude was enough to keep me from calling Bob's again.
Response from BOB'S APPLIANCE REPAIR
"I REGRET SAYING THOSE WORDS, BUT I NEVER SAID I KILLED AN ANIMAL. I WAS ANNOYED THAT HIS DOG TRIED TO BITE ME AND SUGGESTED THAT HE CONTROL HIS DOG. THIS COULD BE AN OBJECT LESSON TO ALL ANIMAL OWNERS, IF YOU HAVE AN AGRESSIVE ANIMAL IT WOULD BE POLITE THING NOT TO EXPOSE A STRANGER TO THIS PERILS."

Everything went really well--I was able to get an appointment only a day after I called. Appt. time "window" was between 10-12:00 and Bob arrived arount 10:30, I think. Cost for the house call was $50.00 which would have been charged had I not chosen to proceed with the repair. His initial estimate was $189 for a new motor and installation but upon taking the machine apart, it was discovered that the blower also needed to be replaced and I requested that the belt be changed at this time as well. I was charged only for the cost of the additional parts--no extra charge for the added labor. A comparable new dryer costs about $500 so I guess (hope?) going ahead with the repair was a good idea. The parts replaced are guaranteed for 1 year. Bottom line--I was very satisfied and have already recommended him to my neighbor.
