Excellent - as homeowners unfamiliar with the process Dominic was more than willing to educate my husband and show him the ins- and outs of what we needed done. He was thorough and took his time to complete all the tasks he was hired for. Very impressed, will recommend and hire again. We saw a few reviews on Yelp that made us nervous - but in all honestly - they could have been left by competitors... don't let those reviews scare you! EXCELLENT and HONEST.

They do just fantastic work. They are incredibly honest. They do top quality work. He is someone who really takes pride in his work. He is always fair. He is such an honest guy that whatever price he gives me, I am assuming it is an honest price for the work he did. I have recommended him to neighbors and friends who need chimney work.

The entire experience was positive. He provided us with a window of time of when he would arrive and did so within that time period. He assessed the condition of our fireplace and made various recommendations as to repairs. Nothing pushy or costly, simply advised us of what our options were. He was knowledgeable and professional. We will be contacting him again in the spring when we are ready to move on to the next phase and have some repointing of the chimney done. He also cleaned out the chimney for us. There was absolutely NO mess at all. AND he was kind enough to send us a card thanking us for our patronage. A nice little detail that is overlooked these days.

I called and got answering machine but they called back right away. The woman was very professional, friendly. The appointment was set, the gentleman called and let us know they were running late but got to our house, cleaned our chimney and gave us some pointers for our fireplace. Great service and super friendly, I will absolutely use them again for any chimney maintenance,

installed a faulty stove whose door did not shut properly, then the roof around the stovepipe began to leak badly, rusting the stove itself, and the tiled heat resistant pad was cracked.
this all came this way and they really dragged their feet when we asked them to do it the right way. it took them a very long time to come back out and remove the faulty stove and tile pad and bring us the new one. meanwhile the stove pipe leaked horribly, warping the wooden floor and the ceiling has ugly water stains.
needless to say, sometimes things go wrong and that's when you find out how good of a service provider someone is.
we didn't even want to bother asking them to replace the ruined ceiling or floor, just finish the only job you were asked to do correctly.
their rationale was that the roofing was done incorrectly and it should be rolled roofing instead of shingles and you could tell from looking at it.
well, then maybe you, as a installer should have warned me that it was going to leak before you cut a hole in the roof and that i should have the roof corrected???? very poor service and will never use them again.
have since gotten the roof redone, but would have done the two things in reverse if they had bothered to mention it.

Men at Work Chimney Sweep company was affiliated with and quot;Chimney Sweep Energyand quot; when we shopped for the wood stove. Men at Work came out and measured our stove, hearth and mantel. They inspected the existing chimney and sized up our heating requirements (square footage, age of house, etc.)
The recommendation was for a slightly smaller stove, the brand new model, Jotul F400 Castine. We chose the 70k BTU Oslo over the 55k BTU Castine. The Oslo provided more heat for winter power outage heating, it had a side door for loading wood and it had already been in production for a long time.
If we had use the Castine, without a side loading door and with its smaller size, we could have avoided the cost of rebuilding the hearth. I mention this to show that Men at Work's original recommendation would have been easier and cheaper to install.
There were zero problems during the installation. Everything that had been measured and built (mantel heat shield, expanded hearth, etc.) fit perfectly. The Jotul accessories were needed to comply with Jotul's safety rules for this installation and everything, again, worked out perfectly.
We have had zero problems with this stove since it was installed. Some multiple of the cost of this stove and its installation has been saved by reducing our oil usage. We have heated our house (2800 s.f. colonial) during several multi-day power outages from storms. We have even used aluminum pans inside cast iron pots to do some and quot;cookingand quot; during those outages.
A neighbor on our street had a chimney fire a few years ago. A relative in Quebec lost their house to a chimney fire just last year, despite their years of experience with wood heat. We have an excellent stove, with an excellent and safe installation. As long as we burn good dry wood and get the chimney cleaned annually, I feel we have achieved the safest possible situation for using a wood burning appliance.
I respect Men at Work's concern for safe and effective installations and highly recommend them. While visiting other homes, I've seen many wood stove installations that look unsafe. Sometimes a hearth is too small to catch falling embers when a stove door opens. Maybe combustibles are too close and heat shields were not used. I know that those installations were not done by the professionals at Men at Work Chimney Sweeps.

They did an exceptional job and were here for three weeks. We've been able to have fires now in our fireplaces because for 15 years we couldn't use them. We had another company to come and give us a price on the realignment, but they never inspected like this company did. If we didn't get the one for the furnace fixed immediately we would've had a fire once we turned it on. I thought the price was a little steep, but for the quality of work that I saw that he did I have to say it still was worth it because it was back breaking work. When we did masonry I didn't understand what it was about. They had to totally take out our fireplaces, demolish everything, and rebuild everything brick by brick. They did everything by hand and it wasn't pre-slabbed or anything like that. We're going to use them again and have them come and clean our chimneys every year.

They came twice, once to analize the problem, then they sent an estimate, and when I accepted it, they came back and fixed it.

I had several companis come to provide estimates for relining my failing chimneys. Ward from Men at Work spent more than 2 hours inspecting our fireplaces and chimneys. His thoroughess, knowledge and recommendations were so much more than any other contractor had even mentioned. I was impressed.
Ward and his helper arrived on schedule and removed 2 existing fireplaces that were steel heatalator type fireplaces original to the home (1964). They were rusted and deteriorated to the point that the house filled with smoke when we tried to have a fire. The old ceramic chimney liners were failing and had partially blocked ne of the fireplace flues. They used a plasma cutter to remove the old fireplaces. They installed new chimney liners and built new brick fireplaces - which look beautiful. When they finished the firplaces and their chimneys, they also relined our gas boiler and water heater chimney complete with rain cap.
They cleaned up at the end of each day and left our home cleaner than when they started. They were wonderful, personable and extremely professional.
I am more than satisfied with the quality and professionalism that Men at Work brings to the job with them. They are an A-1 operation!!!!

Their price was reasonable. He came late and he called and informed me that he would be coming late. I liked that. He came and had all the things. He knew what he was talking about. He did the work. Since then there was heavy rainstorms and everything he did, held up. He was professional and knowledgeable. He was very thorough. They were good and reasonable. His responsiveness was excellent. I would use them in the future.
