Todd and Tom arrived at the scheduled time. I hired Pools Plus after speaking to several other companies as Todd was extremely polite and accommodating as to the day of service, even though it is their busy season.
Very respectful, professional and great attitude. I asked them a lot of questions and they were familiar with all my equipment and how to deal with it and were happy to answer. They were also responsive to any request and just overall easy to work with. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone wanting pool service and I hardly ever recommend anyone.
I plan to use Pools Plus to open up my pool this coming season and also maintain it. At that time I will write another review regarding the maintenance.
Overall I give this company an A based on my one experience with them. I can honestly say that I got more than my money's worth and that is a rare thing. They also extended a senior citizen discount to me for which I was extremely grateful.

This was a horrible experience that most people would want to avoid experiencing and remembering, which is why I'm rating Todd more calmly in October 2013. Why is it seemingly impossible to find a reliable, competent, professional pool company on Long Island.

I called this company to schedule a pool closing and left a message. To date, there has been no response. Note to company: If you're schedule is already booked, have the courtesy of a response. No response at all is totally unprofessional. The company I did book a closing with, responded within 24 hours. That is the company I will be recommending, not this one.

Moved into a new house, didn't know about pool maintenance, it was looking rather green.
I called about half a dozen pool guys, only Pools Plus answered.
They came over the same day, serviced the pool for much less than they quoted me on the phone (it is a small above ground pool).
I was very happy with them, will certainly use them in the future on a regular basis.

Both gentlemen arrived on time, and were extremely polite and knowledgeable. Todd tried to help us find out why our pool vacuum no longer worked (turned out to be our new pump...not strong enough) He had his own pump, and cleaned our pool beautifully. Great price, excellent service. We'll be using him to close our pool this year :-)

Pools Plus is very reliable and he knows pools very well. We have an older pool and it really requires someone who has patience, can work with the older equipment and he's able to keep it running very well. He's done just about everything for us. We're very pleased with him.

Instead of taking all the leaves off the top of the tarp, he dropped them to the bottom of the pool. It contaminated my water and created a bit of a disaster. I had to replace my filter. It is now July and I am still not able to use my pool. When I talked to him he got a bit argumentative with me claiming I still owe him for chemicals. I paid him $350 and he did not correctly open my pool in the first place.

Contacted Todd in the morning and he was able to get out to my house in a few hours. He was professional and courteous and took the time to make sure the job was done properly.
He crawled under the deck of pool to take a look at the problem. Initially he wanted to salvage the existing pipe, but after an attempt he brought in a replacement pipe and put that in instead. After installing the new pipe, he saw that we were still taking in air and the pump basket was still filling up with air very quickly. He saw that the lid was not sealing properly (not a problem with the lid, but the top lip of the casing). He was able to seal it up.
He got the system up and running, but let me know that while it may get me through another season or two, at some point i will need to replace the casing part of the pump soon, because it was on it's way out.
Todd clearly understands what he does and was able to explain to me what the problem was while he was fixing it. I would have no problem recommending Pools Plus (Todd) for any work you need done with your pool.

This guys been great for 3 years now. The company is just himself and for openings, closings, cleanings, chemicals, and power vacs, he is great. Haven't had to use him on any big pool problem yet (Liners, Pumps) but wouldn't hesitate to give him a try on those too.

I have had a number of other services that were not reliable and expected me to do way too much. No matter what the cost, others always requested that I first clear leaves from the pool, or pre-fill or pre-empty it. No one seemed willing to simply make my pool hassle free -- which was the point of hiring a company to handle it! One other company even charged our card weekly for services even after they stopped showing up to clean the pool!

Tood has been reliable, affordable, and extremely knowledgeable about all things related to the pool. I have been using him for years and would recommend him highly and without reservation.

Todd found a great price on a good quality pool and told us how much it would be to install it. We felt it was very reasonable. It took a while for him to get started, as we weren't sure how much of the job Todd was doing, and how much we would do ourselves. In the end, Todd and his son came and did the whole thing start to finish. They came about 3 or 4 times and worked long hours while they were at our house. Once the pool was set up, Todd made sure the skimmer and pump were working properly and came back once or twice to follow up. The pool looks really great, and he did a very good job of installing it.

We had a little bit of a rocky start, since Todd was so busy and underestimated how long his previous job would take. Once he arrived, though, he was polite, professional, efficient and quick. He came back and took care of a piece that needed to be replaced (which he purchased and I reimbursed him for). A real family business responsiveness came from him. I will use him again, definitely.

He did a good job. He was very knowledgeable and willing to work on an older gunite pool. He was also prompt and professional. His prices were reasonable.
