Gave me an estimate of 1,000 to fix an ignitor on my hot water heater. I called around and got two quotes of around 250-350 for the job. They overcharged by a lot.

***Potential Buyers Beware*** ESPECIALLY WOMEN!! If you want an electrician that charges a rate of *$600 per hour* to change an outlet **Look no further!!** **NH Ross INC. is not able to provide you with bills nor explanations for their costs. They charge "flat fees" which can't be broken down for parts, labor etc.. While the technician came quickly for my issue, I realized I was significantly overcharged and taken advantage of. "We've been in business for 52 years!" NH ROSS INC." will boast. " We are comparable to other electricians in the area." When challenged- Well "we might be significantly higher but we stand behind our warranty." ... The job I needed was for an outdoor electrical outlet that was burned on the outside. No repairs were needed to the wires and it was deemed completely safe. The first part was $349.00 ( this was an outlet box- $17.98 at Home Depot. It needed an additional part which was $379.00 (this was an outlet cover quoted at $17.49 at Home Depot). It needed TWO parts as listed on the bill. The first quote was almost $700.00. Upon questioning the cost, the technician remembered he had a $50 coupon in his truck. Upon more confusion on the cost, he then was able to take off 5%. With continuous confusion, the office was called to "see what they can do." SHYSTERS!! Upon researching each of the TWO parts ( all that was required), they costed less than $50.00. Essentially, this company is charging $500-600 for "labor" on a FIFTEEN MINUTE JOB. I repeat, 15 minutes. NOTHING internally was damaged. Joan the office manager first explained they charge for time- she claimed he was here for 2 hours and 15 minutes (punching in and out time). All of which was completely drawn out for different reasons such as waiting for the 1 of 2 parts to arrive from another technician. The job itself took 15 MINUTES!! Then, the response changed to "we just charge a flat fee." There is NO CLEAR REASONING for why they charge what they do. It is also just possible that NH Ross might just seek opportunities to overcharge and take advantage of clients whom they see fit- WOMEN!!!! This has been mentioned in other reviews. The pictures attached contain the finished replacement job of the two parts quoted at $349 plus an additional $379. This business is completely unethical. NH Ross Inc., I look forward to your vital feedback on this review.

Snuck in a charge for an estimate, and made it sound like they were upfront about it.

Bad! The 1st tech spilled rusty water & stained our white brick and left a boiler part on the grass which left a white burn mark . They came a week later to remove rust & then the boiler broke again ......after paying $900 for a part - a circulator . It was apparently a bad seal so the boiler leaked water all over the basement we were so upset . The explained that they didn’t have certified techs working weekends and the temps were expected to drop so I told them I was calling an emergency plumber , so then that company charged $95 & told me to get NH Ross back - it was their error & I shouldn’t have to pay more . So then since it was going down to freezing NH Ross was able to get me a less certified tech to replace the seal on a Saturday . That was a stressful day but Thank god he did it ....They never asked about the water leak on our rug and refused to reimburse me the $95 svc fee from the emergency company . They felt the emergency company shouldn’t have charged me for the service call (?) .....But Nh Ross charged $900 to replace that part which seemed way too high ! ,They apparently don’t care about my business- lesson learned w NH ROSS never again

They were punctual, and friendly. They took about 5-7 minutes looking at the furnace, and concluded it was the transformer, and they were correct. They charged $85 for the estimate, and $647 to replace a $20 transformer, and told us it might not work, but give us an estimate of $11,303 to replace the unit. I decided to get a second opinion from another company. They were also professional and punctual, however, they charge $80 to tune up the unit and $20 for the transformer, a total of $100 for the job. There's a huge difference in price and service. NH ROSS charge 5 times or more what it would cost to replace a transformer. I want to advise potential customers to do their homework, and beware of these over price companies, and always get a second and if possible a third opinion, not all companies charge for estimates. Run away from this plumber! We have a service contract with them, and they were out last week of fix a leak under my kitchen sink. $361 later I still have a leak under my sink. They were supposed to be back out Friday, didn't show. They came out yesterday and wanted an additional $267 to fix the leak I had already paid to fix! I will be hiring another plumber to come in and fix the problem that I have already paid the unscrupulous contractor to repair. Our kitchen is only 3 years old, so this isn't a different leak. And on top of that, over the weekend we smelled Gas in our home. A call to National Grid, they were there in under an hour, and found that the gas line to the hot water heater NH Ross installed last fall was leaking gas. Fortunately National Grid fixed it (tightened the coupling) at no charge.

Lenny, the plumber was very friendly and did a professional job. It was not apparent as to where the leak was coming from.  He diagnosed the problem immediately, removed and replaced the defective pipe.

The plumber did the job quickly and took great care to ensure that the problem was solved. The serviceman cared a great deal about doing the job properly and even did what he could to repair a dripping faucet while he was there. Excellent job. My only complaint would be the amount of time to get service. We have a small office suite with a single toilet, so having to wait almost three hours was an inconvenience. I understand that other customers were ahead of us, but at least give us a more definite ETA, so we can decide whether to try another service.

We hired them when we moved in this house. They were great and they provided like twenty year warranty on their work.  They did an excellent job. Two guys came in they were clean, heat, helpful, polite and they cleaned after themselves. Next day an electrical worker from the same company came to put in the thermostat. We have a warranty with them as well. I will recommend them to others as well.

Right now everything is working perfectly. He had it done in 15 minutes and I haven't had any problems with it since. I was tired of smelling gas every time I passed the stove.

Tom and Josh from NH Ross performed my O2G conversion.  They were excellent, professional, friendly and seemed to really like their job,  the company they work for and the people they work with!

I had a 70 year old boiler (converted from coal to oil) the size of a Volkswagon beetle in my finished basement that was being removed and replaced with a Gas furnace.  Before they started they laid covering to protect my floor from the soot and debris.  I very much appreciated this.

This was the last week of Nov and as luck would have it the weather had just turned very cold and I was going to be without heat for two days.  The guys had me covered and brought in a couple space heaters that warmed the room nicely.  During the conversion I added moving a water heater closer to the furnace after installation.  I'm glad I had it moved as the installation of the water heater by a different company 6 months earlier was not up to code. I had a chimney liner installed in 2005 that cost $2,000.  So I was sure I could save a few bucks on a new chimney liner.   When checking to make sure it was within code for the O2G... the guys discovered the liner only went part way down the chimney and did not meet code.  They tried to remove the liner that was in the chimney and install a new liner.  However, it was determined I was going to need a Chimney expert to repair what was previously done and install a new liner.  They recommended an excellent company (Guaranteed Home Improvement) who came in discussed the job, showed me what needed to be done and completed efficiently.  These guys were also friendly, professional and appeared to enjoy their job!!!

Unfortunately, for me I still need additional work to pass inspection.  Old homes just keep giving this kind of love....  Under a pressure test after the installation the gage indicated I had a gas leak.  Not a leak where the house would blow up but a pinhole leak under high pressure that would cause the inspection to fail.  NH Ross is scheduled to be back out this week to take care of the leak.

The time difference between the install and the leak repair is because of my crazy schedule and nothing to due with NH Ross. I've actually had to reschedule on them..... I hope Tom comes back so I can hear about his new baby.  His wife was due when he was doing my installation.

NH Ross did a oil to gas conversion for us in February 2015. I couldn't be more happy with this company. We chose this company, out of the 3 we got estimates from, based on their professionalism at the estimate and the fact that they said they would handle everything from arranging for the permits, inspections right down to removal of our oil tank. I am so glad we chose them because not only did they meet all of their promises, they exceeded our expectations. Amy was so pleasant and wonderful to deal with and always kept us up to date and informed of the progress with Nat Grid running the lines and then arranging for the installation dates. Tom was very professional and explained the whole process to me and answered my many questions when he came here to do the pre-installation staging. And then he was also here for the installation and really ran the job in an organized matter. All of the guys, Josh, Shawn & Jimmy worked so hard and also very neatly. When they left they cleaned up everything and made sure we were satisfied with every last detail. Each of the guys worked non stop all day, they seemed to work well together and they were also so pleasant to deal with. You hear so many horror stories with contractors, so I was so happy when this was done so well, as promised, and in the time frame they promised. I would highly recommend NH Ross for any work you need done in your home.

They're very prompt and considerate and came right away.  They installed a different brand than we had before of hot water heater.  The pressure is better and is hotter than better.  We've had several water heaters before, but this one is working much better.  For years, they've said we had water pressure problems in our cul-de-sac.  There is a major difference in pressure and temperature.  We've had them before, and they provide very good service.

They are probably not the least expensive but they are reliable. They service a lot of homes in this area and i have not heard anybody dissatisfied. They are good, when i had a problem they came and resolved it, they are very helpful.

This specific service went OK, but far to costly ($570). This was the last service I had done by NH Ross as my past experiences with them had deteriorated over time. I had been a long standing customer with NH Ross since we first moved into our new home since 1998 and had satisfactory service from them. ;In 2010 we had a total HVAC replacement at considerable cost. Mr. Ross visited our home and went over all the work that was to be done in the contract. The technicians installed the system in one day.Their work was outstanding and everything worked great. I could not have been more satisfied and told everyone I knew about Ross and their great work.  I also made a point of calling their office and told the gals there how satisfied my wife and I was. I also continued a yearly service contract which we had ongoing since 1998. Unfortunately I will no longer use NH Ross as their service quality has gone down and prices have gone up considerably.  They obviously don't care anymore. In May of 2012 I sent a letter to Mr Ross going over the many issues with poor service. I never received a reply. I also called their office and sent emails. They have never replied.

It's really a shame since prior to the HVAC system install in 2010 I had mostly found the service prompt and reliable at reasonable prices. But NH Ross has changed for the worse, to the point now that we will no longer use their services and will not recommend them to anyone.

Note. I have posted this to band of neighbors today since I had not in the past.
