AMAZING WORK. Steve is a phenomenal contractor and a pleasure to work with. You can use them for almost anything in the NYC area, and they are a very professional team that is consistently within budget and on time. Had them redo the entire flooring in my apartment along with the bathroom, they finished within a week and left the apartment infinitely cleaner than it’s ever been. Very honest and trustworthy team.

Steve from SHS hits all the high notes. His prices are the best, or close to it, for a variety of services; and his variety is great i.e. he can handle many types of jobs. I have used him to replace my roof, my air conditioning, furnace and air handlers, to build a ramp, to install a commercial dehumidifier, to seal cracks in my foundation, paint and repair walls, and now replace doors. He is quick, to the point, very responsive, and very detail-oriented - taking the time to explain all the fine details of his work (and how he did not cut any corners). He also has a design flair and can offer great recommendations on styles e.g. door hardware.

There was a chimney leak in or apartment and the entire apt was covered in soot and smoke. The problem was so bad we moved out. Once the chimney was repaired. We called Steven from SHS based on his great ratings on Angie's list. They came in on Monday cleaned up all the soot & smoke damage. Then began the process of priming and painting. The apartment was painted to perfection for a very low price. The floors were striped, sanded sealed in polyurethane, our apartment has never looked better. Steven helped with great designs for the apartment, the wallpaper and paints. We are so pleased with the finished product, the price, and mostly the high level of service Steven and his crew provided for us. We are back in our apartment & are loving it!

We manage a 15,000 Sq ft. retail store. The 1st floor sunk down 8". The steel staircase and doorway were crooked, the concrete floor was broken. the foundation was cracked. The basement was unusable and dangerous. We hired our go to contractor, SHS Contracting to do the work. He brought in an engineer who inspected and deemed the basement safe but in need of severe repairs. Steven and his crew efficiently began the demo of the old block walls and concrete slab.. Then they poured new footings and built a new block wall and jacked up the steel beam that had fallen and supported it properly. He also remounted the staircase, repaired the foundation, installed new floor piping and drains and and poured a new concrete slab.. They also repaired the existing light fixtures and removed all the waste associated with their work.

I once again contacted Steven to do another job for me at my home. This time it was to install new LED fixtures across the basement ceiling to eliminate the cumbersome florescent fixtures that were there for a long time. The new fixtures needed to be positioned so they were right behind each other in a straight line across the ceiling with no wires showing. I was not surprised to see this was done exactly this way. As with every job this company has done for me, it was handled with the same precision and focus to detail that make them the great company they are. This is now the sixth job I have given Steven and his team to do on my home and I have never been disappointed. There is no area of work that you will need to be done on your home that Steven and his team cannot do. They will complete every job above and beyond what you hope to see when it is completed and you too will never be disappointed too.

Mr. Shamie started out quite responsive. We initially had a frozen drain pipe we asked him to come out and inspect. It was decided that the tub would have to be removed and a possible re-design of the tub drain. Mr. Shamie did not do the work himself as he had other people do the work once the work started. His team installed a faulty design of pipes which froze and caused water damage and leaking. (See photos of frozen water surround gas pipes and insullation covered in ice.) We had to hire another contractor to come out and remove our shower base in order to replace the faulty pipes and installation. Mr. Shamie's group also installed the grout improperly which caused it to have to be all removed and redone by another contractor within two weeks of the initial installation. In addition, we still have not been able to afford to have the electrical work replaced. A non-GFCI outlet was installed in the small bathroom. His worker went against electrical code and connected the outlet from the office located on the other side of the wall to the newly installed outlet in the bathroom. In speaking with a licensed electrician, we have now learned that it is against code to have used the electrical from the office to install new outlets in the bathroom. Now the bathroom outlet only works when we turn on the light in the office. Mr. Shamie refused to do anything about the outlet unless we paid him more money. Mr. Shamie has offered to come out to do the repairs, but expected us to pay him to have his contractors come back out and repair the damage and faulty work they initially performed. We have attempted to come to a resolution for the thousands of dollars we have spent to fix their work, but Mr. Shamie has stopped responding to our emails.

When we were originally called out to see the job, I identified that her frozen pipes were caused by the fact that her pipes ran through an exterior ceiling. 2. Therefore there were two jobs that were needed. The bath renovation and exterior insulation project. 3. The member hired me to do both but against my professional guidance chose to do the bath renovation first. 4. We completed the renovation to her complete satisfaction and instructed her not to use the bathroom until the insulation project was completed. 5. Against my instructions the member turned on the water and her pipes froze. 6. The issues she had were the result of her ignoring my advice as I knew this would be an issue until the insulation was done. 7. We were not contracted to install any outlets and the grout we installed was supplied by the member. 8. This negative review does not reflect the quality of our work and reputation. 9. Our other reviews show the kind of quality and service that our customers can expect."

Upon discovery, Steven and his crew arrived within one hour. They surveyed the problems and responded immediately. Within one hour his environmental clean up crew began pumping out the thousands of gallons of raw sewage which had completely contaminated the basements into their own tank truck! They also cleaned out 3 restaurant grease traps which were overflowing with grease. This took almost the entire day. Once cleared, his 2 sewer cleaning crews cleaned out multiple blockages with both traditional snaking equipment and truck mounted water jetting rig to remove grease and sewage blockages. The following days, SHS and company repaired 1 burst pipes, a burst water meter, a leaky back-flow device, and replaced 6 defunct sump pumps. We also hired them provide lights and power to the service corridor. In addition we hired them to remove garbage and debris from the exterior of the property - Angela White, property manager Esquire Management Corp.

Never imagined such a transformation was possible in my dingy basement! Workers showed up on time every day and were not a bother to me at all while they worked. The nature and size of porcelain slabs required special handling and Steven’s crew managed it with care and expertise. The panels were expertly installed to preserve the original look of long marble veins, where slabs were cut in half, making seams inconspicuous. Steven was very responsive and in constant communication with us, which was very important since we were out of town during the installation. He closely managed this project, staying on schedule and completing it on time. We highly recommend Steven and his crew.

most of the work done by this contractor was great and the crew was pleasant. there were some problems along the way which can be expected in a old-building project. there was generally a fast response to problems, although "we'll take care of it first thing in the morning" is not what you want to hear about a leaking sewer stack. lots of small details were left undone at the end, which are not too big a problem, but the crew were in a hurry to get to the next project and so either left small things undone or made a mess correcting them. I was annoyed enough to turn down a offer to try to make it right by the owner, who does care about the quality of his work. overall construction electric and plumbing were skilled, but painting less so. some original window and door framing was left in place and covered with a coat of paint. it looks awful despite promise that it would look great - its now a future project after a final bill was settled an additional $4800 was requested, which was annoying. overall I would recommend SHS - but for smaller projects overall: B+

"SHS prides itself on the quality of our work and service. Every effort was made to satisfy this customer and at no time did the customer ever complain about our quality, price , or service. On two separate occasions we were called out in the middle of the night to repair a broken sewer line and to help the customer gain entry into his apartment after he was locked out. Both calls free of charge. Regarding the claims of paint quality...we always take the time to do proper prep work but in this case the trim he is referring to was over 80 years old. The $4800 was the actual and rightful balance due plus the extras we agreed to and completed. Further I tried to contact Mr [Member Name Removed] several times to follow up on the job and make sure he was happy with everything but he never did answer or reply. Dr [Member Name Removed] was a gentleman and I am always available to adress any areas of concern he may have with our work."

Spectacular! This is the only word that comes close to describing the transformation to the front of my house by Stevens Home Services. I wanted to replace the two front doors to my 2-family house. I knew I wanted fiberglass so Steven gave me a few websites to look over to find a style. I found the perfect door but found out it did not come in the height size I needed. Nothing else could compare. Steven knew I found what I wanted so told me he would make it work. And work it did. The expertise of his team of workers is second to none. They worked diligently to find the perfect fit for both of the doors and now they look like they were meant to be in that space. Together, Steven and I picked the accessories for the door and it all went together perfectly. I now have the best house on the block! One of the best things about Steven is how he listens to what you want and then makes it happen. No disagreement, no criticism. He just gets the job done. The final result is more than you could ever imagine. No matter what job you need done, you need only to call Steven. There is no one better!

Every home owner has one wish in common. To have someone reliable to call when something happens in your home that requires immediate attention. Well, my wish came true ever since I discovered Stevens Home Services on Angie’s List. My hot water tank needed to be replaced. I had been waiting for my plumber to do it for months and months. When I was just short of getting only cold water, I knew I had to find someone else. I called Steven and explained my situation. Within 24 hours I had a new hot water tank installed and the old one carried away. When I saw the condition of the old tank, I could not have waited any longer. This is the one company you can count on for whatever your needs are. Steven and his team will handle whatever the job requires and do it better than anyone else.

We were very pleased with all aspects of the work done by Steven's Home Services. Not only was the quality of the work top notch, but the workers were professional in every way. They showed up on time, were meticulous in their interior and exterior clean up and removed and disposed all materials every day. Steven made sure to check in with me regularly to inform me of the work schedule and make sure I was pleased with how the work was progressing. After the work was completed we noticed a few things that needed touch up. We contacted Steven and he responded immediately and sent over two members of his work crew to address these minor issues.

This is the second time I have chosen to have Steven and his team do work for me. There was no hesitation in contacting him for the job.
This time it was for the work needed on the outside front of house. The railings and gates were in terrible shape and the pavers needed a good power washing. There were also multiple areas where fresh mortaring needed to be done. I watched in total amazement as my house was transformed. The talent and expertise of this team is amazing. They can do anything that is asked of them and they do it perfectly.
An additional task was added when I decided to remove the stone globes that were atop the brick posts in the front of the house as they were coming loose. Steven knew I wanted to replace them with granite to match the steps and he was determined to find the right product. He made sure to check with several suppliers and went through an entire stack of pieces to be sure all of 4 of them matched perfectly. This is what he does. He goes above and beyond to satisfy his customer. I could not have picked a more perfect item if I had gone with him myself. The finished look is absolutely beautiful.
No matter the job you are looking for, Steven's Home Services is the only company you need. They are the only company I will ever use from now on for any work needed on my house. You will feel the same way once you have them do any job for you.

I wish there was a hire rating than an "A"! This company is first class in everything they do and rating an "A" does not seem to be enough. Steven responded to my email about the job immediately and came to meet with me the next day. He is a true professional. What a nice surprise to meet a contractor who genuinely wants to please his customers. I was amazed at how quickly he said he could get the job done for me. The workers came at 8:00am and finished at 6:00pm for two days and completed the job. Chris and the team did a fantastic job. They worked non-stop and I was not bothered by them at all. I highly recommend Steven and his team for any type of job needed. I will definitely be using them again. Finding Steven has been a blessing!
