Godberson Landscaping

In may of 2022 godberson landscape (suffolk sod father) did the sod on my front lawn along with some other landscape work. After less then 1 month the new sod was covered in weeds and brown spots. Godberson landscape was also hired to mulch an entire flower bed which they only completed half the job but we’re paid for the entire job and said they will come back which to this date they have NOT completed the work or reimburse me for the work they did not complete. I have been asking for over a month for a receipt for the job which was also never provided. During the course of the work they broke several sprinkler heads. The owner Kevin godberson will tell you whatever you want to hear in order to get paid and leave the job half done. Please save yourself the headaches and hire a true professional for your sod NOT suffolk sodfather (godberson landscaping)

Bait and switch. He charged me for 2200 square feet of Sod and to use a Sodcutter on lawn and put down top soil..I put trees down after initial proposal and he came back to remeasure to see how much Sod was needed.On morning of install I asked him if he changed the price because there was about 150-200 less sq. feet.He said to wait till he sees what's needed.He said he's not going to use Sodcutter on side lawn of about 250 sq. ft. he would put down topsoil over grass and weeds then Sod.After they were done he said he used 2100 ft even though footage is closer to 2000.That would mean that there was 100 feet waste.He lowered price $100 only.After he left I called Kevin the owner to say he should have left me a piece or two of Sod just in case it's needed and he said he will drop off a piece or two which he never did.On second day I noticed that some of the Sod was defective on side lawn, so I called him and he said give it a chance.Anyone knows if something looks diseased you don't give it a chance but I did.I sent him pictures after 3rd day and he said to wait.After 5 days it got worse and I called him again.He came to house about 9 days in while I wasn't there and removed about 5 to 7 of the sod patches.He called me and said to leave those bare spots alone that they were root rot and that it will grow.I told him any idiot knows that if underneath there were weeds that they will grow through and the liar said he put 5 inches of topsoil on that side lawn and weeds won't go through.I have a 4 feet high White pvc fence and the Sod is about 1/2 inch up fence higher than it was.I had to put Sod in those bare spots myself to repair it because I didn't want weeds or older grasses to come through.I texted Kevin not to step foot on my property again since he didn't do anything but drive by and say it looks good.Any fool knows that grass looks ok until you go closer.He does not stand behind his work.He talks like he's doing something but it's all talk.I would never hire this company unless you want bait and switch and bad Sod to go with unprofessionalism.By the way Kevin went from saying to soak it then 25 minutes to 45 minutes to 10 minutes all in a weeks time.He also saw how my sprinklers work while he was there because he asked me to put all zones on.The pictures are from the 3rd day.Thank God I used to do lawns in Nassau in the 90's so I know a bit about Grass and Sod.

Found Keven on Angie's list and I couldn't be more happy and satisfied with the work he and his crew performed.  Keven is the most honest landscaper around.  When gave me my estimate, he never tried to up sell me like the crooks I contacted on that other list.  He even replaced my sprinkler heads, with no extra charge.  The estimate price was the price I paid. 
If you want an honest and fair price for sod installation Keven Godberson is the guy to call first.

Kevin with Godberson was not only prompt, professional, and courteous, his work was competitive in price and done with care and expertise.

They have an excellent crew and it takes them about an hour and a half to clean up the leaves. They also haul the leaves away and do not just leave them on the curb.
