"The customer is correct by stating he called asking about the deck board fasteners and i did not meet up to his expectations/demands for a remedy. The screws that were used were galvanized phillip head screws, we gave him the option to use galvanized ring shank nails but he declined stating he may upgrade to trex in the future and wanted to be able to get the deck boards off. Galvanized phillip head screws OR Nails are industry standard for wood decks. The deck board quality Mr. Blaaboer stated is factual; non premium deck boards were purchased at the owners request (knowing he was planning to upgrade to trex), we have since learned our lesson to listen to customers in that regard. ALL wood decks for the last 12 years have been built with premium deck boards; All of them are also fastened with galvanized nails. We do not give the option for screws. Regarding the other claims that were made against us this is the first i am hearing of them; however i find it hard to give merit to the claims because a permit was obtained for the work and a final CO was issued; therefore it met or exceeded all load requirements and codes. It was only 7 days ago i was alerted by Angie's list of Mr. [Member Name Removed] review and i immediately phoned him to no avail or returned call, as of yet anyways. I am sorry to have allegedly placed you in this position to be disgruntled enough to write a review (12) years after the work was complete with no pictures or evidence. If i had been given the opportunity to post pictures i would have, so you the reader, could have made a decision on the unfounded "wobbly and badly built" staircase. I reside out of state and had arranged to meet Starrbuilt (Joe) who came recommended from my realtor.
He walked me around the home and assessed what would be priorities to repair or replace in order to sell the house. With selling in mind he suggested materials to use to keep it cost effective and attractive . He replaced a bathroom, which had water damage, replaced baseboards and reinstalled the heaters, repainted ceilings and walls. Joe and his workers were able to work on my time frame of when I was in town and I soon realized that they could work without my presence. They were competent to handle anything that arose from painting to plumbing without having to use subcontractors. His workers were on time everyday and worked at the house while I was out of state. They were clean, organized and professional. Upon my return, everything was completed and to my satisfaction. Joe and his workers were detailed oriented and I did not have to ask them to redo anything. Done right the first time.
