It was a great experience and worth every penny.  We are homeowners with 20+ yrs of deferred maintenance and we knew there were issues with the home that we weren't aware of that we needed to be educated about.  Debbie was here for 4+ hours talking to me and explaining issues (she even stayed behind to take additional pictures of back of the house when I had to leave for an appointment).  She would have been quicker if I hadn't have wanted her opinion on so many things and she was so generous with her time and knowledge.  She went around the entire outside of the house on her own taking pictures and assessing and then took me around to point out the issues.  Then the same with the first floor, second floor and basement.  It was invaluable to see the whole house through her eyes and having her assessment about what were the most pressing issues to be dealt with first.  We had her come in after having had some terrible recent experiences with service providers. It renews your faith to have someone who takes their job seriously and appreciates it is a big responsibility to go into someone's home and help them with their biggest investment.  Her report impressed everyone and it is a great resource to go forward with service people knowing the truth of the matter instead of relying on their word about repairs to be done.  Also, she was generously offered advice since coming last week.   I can't say enough great things about the experience!

We used Debbie Martin of Premium Home Inspection and I am thrilled with the level of service that she provided. I would highly recommend her services.
Ms. Martin was incredibly thorough and conscientious throughout the entire process. I had originally received a word-out-mouth recommendation for Premium and cross-referenced this company on Angie's List; after speaking with other home inspection services, I chose Premium to inspect the house that we are purchasing.
On the day of the inspection, the temperature outside was incredibly cold. However, when I arrived at the house, Ms. Martin had already been there for almost an hour, canvassing the perimeter of the property and assessing the outside of the house.  We, along with the realtor, entered the house together; Ms. Martin then set up a Keurig machine with a choice of coffee and tea and some snacks. I was nervous about the whole home inspection process; however, this little gesture had the effect of making me feel comfortable and more relaxed.
For the next hour or so, she went throughout the house, photographing every nook and cranny with one of her three cameras. Thereafter, she went through the house again, this time with me, from room to room, pointing out things both bad and good. Over the next three hours, we went through each room and closet, basement, garage and attic crawl space. Every inch of that property was covered. We also went outside and covered the entire property, from the outside of the house, deck and steps to the landscaping on the property.
She is incredibly knowledgable, both about what to look for and about how houses in general operate.  Since she has a horticulture background, she even gave me pointers on suggested trees to plant to replace a couple that we must take down due to insect damage.  She made suggestions for inside the house, such as replacing one type of pipe with another, what kind of water filter to use, etc. She prioritized which changes are crucial for safety purposes, such as off-balance front steps that need to be replaced,, and which are merely minor annoyances, such as nail pops in sheet rock.  Through use of her specialty infra-red camera, she was also able to point out whether there had been water damage behind certain walls or not.  Due to snow covering the property, and on the roof, the roof was unable to be properly inspected. However, Ms. Martin went back the following week and conducted a visual inspection of the roof; she emailed me additional photos and concerns that she had. This inspection also included a termite inspection (that came with warranty) that was done by an independent exterminator.
I found Ms. Martin to be intelligent, friendly, professional and accessible. We spoke several times on the phone both before and after the inspection; she returned any messages I left promptly.  I cannot stress how thorough this home inspection was - the very next day, she emailed me a 50 page report complete with pictures, descriptions, findings and recommendations. My attorney said he had never seen such a thorough inspection!
It is with utmost confidence that I recommend Premium Home Inspection; I can't imagine anyone anywhere doing a better job.

Had a very unpleasant experience as a realtor representing a buyer and a seller with this company. First off, 4.5 hours for an inspection is over the top (3 bed 1.5 bath home no basement, no pool, small studio apartment). Average is 1.5-3 hours. Second, myself and my seller were sitting in the kitchen of her home during the inspection while we overheard a conversation the inspector was having on her cell phone. She said "the electric is so bad I'm surprised the house hasn't burned down yet". Me and my seller were hoping she was not talking about her house. Needless to say, a few hours later I received an email from my buyer who quoted what she said "the electric is so bad I'm surprised the house hasn't burned down yet". She scared my buyer away with those words and perhaps over dramatized the situation. Third, I called the inspector, who DENIED having said that. Meanwhile, I heard it and my buyer confirmed it in an email!  Also, if the electric was posing such a safety issue that the house could burn down, how come my seller was not disclosed this information since her and her husband are living in such an unsafe house that "could burn down"? I truly feel this inspector came in to play a game with my buyer and burn the deal so she could earn their trust and get them again for a second inspection. I do not trust the integrity of this company. Would not recommend. There are ways of pointing things out in a more professional manor to say the least.
Response from Premium Home Inspection LI
"I am the home inspector that buyer's want - I am thorough, I am knowledgeable, and I put my client ( the buyer) first. An important fact to remember is that there is a NYS "standards of practice" which lists what needs to be inspected in a house. If you take the time to read it over, you will agree that there is no way that an inspection can be done in less than 2.5-3 hours. If your inspector does this, I can assure you that they did not cover all that was necessary (and required), and they did you a disservice. As stated above, the buyer is my client - NYS law only permits my client to receive a copy of the inspection report, and can only be shared with written permission by my client. However, any immediate danger to the occupants must be reported for their safety, which I always do. Purchasing a home is a huge investment for most people, and anyone in that position, I am sure would agree, that being made aware of any significant, moderate, and minor issues is imperative in the decision making of such a large purchase. A purchase where you and your loved ones will live. I do not apologize for making the tough calls, the alternative is to put my clients at risk. My standards would never allow that."

Debbie Martin is an absolute home run. Trustworthy, diligent and very detailed. Totally has her customer in mind. She combed every inch of the home we were purchasing and provided a comprehensive report with photo's. It gave me a great piece of mind before purchasing the home. I highly recommend Debbie.

Words cannot prepare one for how detailed and in-depth Debbie's inspections are.  You need to set aside several hours on the day of your inspection.  She will walk you through all of her findings and point out where she sees issues and where she might not have the absolute answer as well.  It is soup to nuts, including the inspection of every faucet, sink, pipe, connection, etc   It is fairly remarkable.  In the house we eventually went into contract on, Debbie found a heat bloom in the electrical panel which was immediately fixed, given its risk of fire.
I would add that when I hired Debbie, I was asked by our Architect if she was an engineer. Debbie isn't an engineer and the architect rolled his eyes at me when I first hired Debbie.  Post the inspection, my architect was the first person to ask for her contact info, very impressed with her service.
For the price, the return on investment is just too high, not to use her.  Highly recommended!

A+++.  Terrific experience once again.  We used her a 2nd time after an initial potential home purchase did not go through (our 1st inspection was a simpler high level inspection).  And this inspection felt even more thorough, as we spent almost 4.5 hours at the property.  I was given numerous pointers and issues to be aware of.  She did not mind me tagging along (even encouraged it) so i could learn much more about the house.  The report was very thorough with a nice summary at the end of the most critical items.  And we received quick and complete answers to multiple questions we had after the inspection (we must have traded a dozen emails and/or phone calls).  And the kicker was that Debbie went back to the house to meet with the owner, without me, a second time because there were unanswered issues and questions that had to be addressed.  Importantly, she did this as a courtesy and she did it within 2 days (simply fantastic)!  Her price was more than fair; her inspection was top notch; her guidance and advice are invaluable.  We know we are going to have to fix a few things, and she has already given us guidance on what to do, when to do it, and who to repair things with.  We feel very lucky to have Debbie on our side, as she gave us piece on mind in terms of this purchase.  I would recommend her, in a second, to anybody looking for a trusted advisor.

Debbie was fantastic.  She was double the level of thoroughness, precision, knowledge, & care I was expecting.  We came with 2 realtors (buyers and sellers realtors) and they were saying the same thing - they were as impressed as I was.  It felt like she checked every plug receptacle, every beam, hot water temp (needs to be above 120 degrees - who knew), electrical panel and surrounds, furnace, AC, windows, crawl spaces, insulation piece, etc.  Debbie even came with snacks and coffee (very thoughtful).  She was professional and answered all our questions without any rush, and has already sent me a number of emails (same day) on homework we both had to do.
I've gone through the inspection process before, and Premium Home is above and beyond.  Debbie will meet and then double or triple your expectations.  an A+ in my book.  thanks Debbie.

Debbie arrived early to set herself up and provided coffee and snacks for us.
She was so thorough, professional, considerate of the property, and patiently answered all of my questions.
She had estimated that the job would take approximately 3 hours, and even though the real estate aganet was late, she proceeded to inspect the outside while we waited for him.  The entire job took just under 3 hours and I felt very confident that everything was inspected.
We received our full report with many pictures that same evening, and that covered the entire property, structure, appliances and everything that needed to be checked. She also registered all the appliance models and serial#'s in case there is ever a recall we will be notified.
My overall experience was very satisfying and I would highly recommend her to anyone who needs her service.

I feel compelled to write this review because I have never had as thorough, comprehensive, photo filled home inspection as I did with Debbie Martin at Premium Home Inspection LI. She was on time (early in fact), with coffee and snacks in hand! . She answered all of my questions and pointed out areas of concern - I saved money after purchasing my home by taking care of a few small things before they became an expensive headache. With her inspection, I knew what I was "getting into" with the purchase of this house. I received the completed report within 24 hours (wow!), and Debbie gave me a follow up call to see if I had any questions. All I can say is that if you want piece of mind when making this large purchase, call Premium Home Inspection LI.
