I will definitely call him back.
First the companies response to my poor review of him. Nick asks why I didn't write a bad review earlier and it's because we could not find another service company that could work on this unit and were thus beholden to him. That is indicated in my original review which includes how Nick used that fact to his advantage. He also lies about the gas smell and the reason he came back 3 times. First time he returned was to fix the problem he could not fix upon his initial visit because he was busy replacing parts that didn't need replacing. He only came back to find the gas smell once and couldn't find it because he forgot his leak detection equipment on the last job. Imagine my astonishment when he cold not find the leak he created, then told me he wouldn't charge me as long as I gave him a favorable review and that I was lucky he was doing me such a 'solid'!
He also lies about my treatment of him. He's a Vietnam vet literally 3 times my size; do you think I would curse at him and be aggressive? I was quite clear on the fact that I would not play along with his extortion game and that he didn't like.
No need to call National grid over the leak now as a new company fixed the problem along with numerous other installation errors made by Nick and Airteck. One problem fixed was the small air inlet I mentioned in my first review. This caused an internal part to deteriorate as a result. The boiler manufacturer says that part usually doesn't deteriorate unless the inlet is obstructed or too small. This cost a lot of money to rectify and should have been done correctly upon installation if Nick hadn't cut corners and listened to the manufacturer instead of boasting how he was such a master plumber.
Nick claims he has to 'deal' with clients like me. I am a professional project manager dealing with a myriad of different commercial trades day in and day out. Nick is anything but professional. He is a good salesman, very intimidating and insistent on him being right and you being wrong. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this company and Nick.
"(removed member name) (removed member address) Cell (removed member phone number) reply to angies list Please note: Airteck refused any further service to this customer because of his fowl and abusive language and unfounded claims and nasty aggressive attitude he displayed towards myself and my helper last time we were at his home in early 2014. His wife call us approximately a week or two ago, and wanted service from my company. I inform her because of the treatment we got from your husband last time we were there we choose not to continue servicing there Boiler. This review was submitted within the last 2 wks. Why didn't (removed member name) submit this slander when we did the last service. Why did he wait till now. If we made such a mess and displayed such disgusting behaviors, why would you call us back? (removed member name) equipment was installed in September 2008 and ran without problem to 2014. That is six Years. We were called in for service and performed a repair which required a part and 3 yrs service. Days later he called us and told us that he smelled gas and there must be a leak. We went back there 3 times and checked. We found no leaks. He did not believe what we told him. We did not charge him any service charges on three return unfounded service calls . We are licensed, insured and bonded. I would never leave a customer in a dangerous situation, or put myself in a position of liability. I have been in business 30 yrs and have no insurance claims against me. If (removed member name) had a dangerous Gas or CO2 leak, why didn't he call National Grid? They would have sent a technician over to check for a leak. He could have also called the fire department and they would have checked. Either National Grid or the fire department found a leak they would have shut the equipment down, and would have provided him with documentation indicating he had a gas leak that needs repair. Then he would have had an issue with me. That never happened. (removed member name) knows how to make a lot of noise, but really doesn't use the gift god gave him that rests between his ears (removed member name) review speaks for itself and provides you with a brief look at the character of the individual we are dealing with. It also provides you an idea of what we and other service organizations are up against in the field."
Nick made sure the job was done right that I would not be without heat. He did as much as he could do to prepare the new boiler without removing the old one. On the morning before Thanksgiving Nick came to my house at 8am and stayed until 10pm that night to complete the job to make sure I would not be without heat. My next door neighbor converted to gas at the same time as me and he was without heat for 5 nights!
Nick views his work as a piece of art and made sure to do a clean install that looked great and allowed me to use what was previously a boiler room as a storage room as well.
Between August 12, 2013 (1st and 2nd payment) and October 18, 2013 (finished job), there were times he said he was coming and didn't, times he came for a couple hours. This is a job that could have been done in 1, maybe 2 days. The equipment sat in my garage for at least a month.
On the day of final installation, he said everything was completed. I was not home that day, but took Nick at his word.
On April 23, 2014, Nick returned to remove the oil tank. He tried telling me that it was $700, when his contract said $600. He left me with the oil because I was giving it to my parents, but left ME with the sludge and took 2 big gas cans of MY oil.
On May 22, 2014, he came to service the Baxi unit because National Grid had me turn off the unit because the exhaust coming out was "not safe" and there was CO in the house. It turns out his "helper" never put the plug in correctly, but still was acting up.
On June 12, 2014, he returns to check unit again (acting up) and to reconnect our A/C, which should have worked in the first place. Nick "rewired" everything, charged us $375.00 and we recently found out that all he did was disconnect the heat and connect the A/C because we went to turn on the heat and it did not work.
Our electrician reconnected our heat for the winter, but we now have to hire a HVAC to come in and rewire all that Nick "rewired" and make sure everything is up and running.
Airteck is a pain to get in touch with. If you call and are lucky enough to have Nick answer great. If you get the voicemail, which specifically states to send him a text message and do, good luck getting a response. Twice we have had emergencies and twice have not heard from him so we are done. We're moving on to bigger and better things and he will no longer get our work and/or any recommendations from us, which is sad because we are a young couple who have a lot of friends buying houses and need work done.
"[member name remove]doesnt explain the story as it happened. The Reason it took 2 months to get the equipment in was because it took national grid that long to bring in the gas service line from the street. We told him before hand it takes 6 to 8 wks. He told us he had a friend or relative that worked for national Grid and could have the meter in installed two weeks. So we rushed our end to keep up with his schedule. I went to Valley stream and renewed my License. I also put in for the plumbing permits. We normally order the equipment and have to wait. In his case we called our supplier and were lucky enough to get a Baxi that they had so we grabbed it and delivered it so we were ready at our end. When we deliver the baxi to your house we get the second payment as per the contract. He makes that effort sound Negative rather then appreciating us for prepping early. His guy at National grid failed . We all wound up waiting 8 wks for the service. Once the meter bar was installed by national grid we started the work within 24 hrs. The equipment was installed within 2 days. We connected our system to An existing A/C system in the attic. We installed a heat coil fabricated into the existing duct system, We installed the aqua stat control to bring on the fan for heat. The existing Low voltage wiring going from the A/c System to the existing thermostat were a mess. We called [member name remove] and explained what we found and what had to be done to correct the problem and informed him there would be additional charges for the unforeseen problem. He agreed and we put in an additional 4hrs plus materials. At the end of the job he refused to pay us for the extra work and materials. I didn't pursue him on the extras. we just took the final payment money and left. We had discussed us removing his outside oil tank. It was 3/4 full and he had promised to have the oil removed before we came to get rid of the vessel. We quoted $600.00 to remove an emptied tank . When we came in the spring the oil was still in it. We told him it would be an extra $100.00 to remove the oil. He once again agreed. When were done he refused to pay the additional $100.00. Now that is two times he stiffed us. [member name remove] complains that we left him two cans of sludge. That is correct! We told him way before we started that we will leave you with the sludge from the tank. We left the sludge in 2 sealed plastic buckets. We do that with all our tank removals. The homeowner disposes of their own sludge. He is the first to complain. [member name remove] Called us on may 22,2013and said national grid shut them down for an O2 leak. We came over under warrantee and found the test port plug on our equipment loose. When we installed the equipment before the winter we performed a Combustion test on the equipment with a combustion analyzer. We close the cap when we are done with the test. This equipment ran all winter long without a problem and no emission problems. We come there and find the test port plug Loose with trace emissions in the dwelling after months of operation. We didn't leave it that way! At this point I am patiently awaiting our warrantee to expire because dealing with [member name remove]. is becoming very trying. [member name remove] now states that he had his electrician come to his house and fixed our wiring. [member name remove] should know better than that . It states in our contract that anyone other then Airteck adjusts, repair or tamper with our work while under warrantee voids that warrantee. So at that point We are no longer responsible.I dont know what his electrican or a/c guy did to his equipment and at this point dont care. If you void the warrantee you are on your own."
glowing review of this provider, Airteck Plumbing owned by Nick
Reisner. I would not want anyone to contract this company based on my
previous review. I myself contracted him again based on my initial
contact with him. Subsequently, the first job fell apart and the second
job is a total disaster.
Last year I contracted and paid for the installation of a wall hung Baxi Luna boiler unit to
heat my home and hot water and a washer and dryer in my garage in my
home in Nassau County. The unit never worked perfectly, but the
contractor, Nick Riesner of Airteck Plumbing came back and adjusted it several times. The unit was
working fine for hot water. This past winter was the first winter that
the unit was to be used for heat and it did not work at all.
Apparently it was not supposed to have been installed in an unheated
location, so according to other plumbers who have looked at it since, it is
broken beyond repair because water froze inside of it. I don't know
about the washer and dryer because all the water in the house has been
frozen also. The total amount paid on this job was about $10K. The
contractor will not respond to my calls.
I contracted for a second unit to be installed at a
rental properly in Brooklyn when I thought that the first unit was
working out. This time I have not even gotten to see if it will
work or not. The building is in the landmark section of Brooklyn and Nick Riesner of Airteck
the contractor put a hole in the side of the building with a pvc vent
protruding. I went nuts when I saw it and told him he had to move it
because Landmarks would never approve it and they would fine me if they
saw it.
Of course, the buildings department would not sign off on
the installation of the unit without a sign off from Landmarks. I
hired an architect got plans and got approval for venting on the other
side of the building. Now Nick Riesner of Airteck Plumbing wants me to pay the remaining
balance on the first contract, plus the cost for the re-routing. He will take no responsibility for his error. I
think this is unfair and I have told him so in writing. He has not
responded. So far, I have already paid him about $9K on this contract and he is
demanding another $8K, at a minimum...his words. This is in addition to the architectural fees that came out of my pocket also.
I cannot use my personal house because it has no heat or water. There
may be damage to pipes, I won't know that until I get someone out there
to turn back on the water.
I have no working boiler at the rental property and the
tenants have gone nuts. I installed a hot water heater and am hoping
spring will come soon. I cannot install a boiler because the
contractor has a file open already. I am trying to get another
plumbing contractor to get in another boiler, but I am not even sure if
this is what I should do but I feel I have no other choice. The tenants
complain, rightly, day and night.
I have started a lawsuit against him and am complaining to every agency I
can think of to get him to respond to me. Run, don't walk from Nick

"Mr. [member name removed] Had a home that was destroyed by Sandy. The rear Wall of the house was off the foundation . The rear wall of the house was leaning towards the house next to him on a 60 degree angle. There were other walls with the same issues. We did not want to install the boiler under the present circumstances. The house would have been condemned if a town official saw the problems. After the homeowner told us he would correct them. We agreed to install the new equipment. We came to his house installed new gas lines from the meter and installed the new boiler in the rear porch behind the kitchen. We Removed the old oil hot water heater and boiler. We Could not commission the boiler because he had a broken water meter which froze, extensive breaks in all his copper piping to his radiators and hot and cold domestic piping. We work as far as we could and discounted a lot of his work because we understood the mess he was in and just couldn't get the money . He ran out of money to continue and he was going to call us back when he got Hurricane aid. He never called. So from this end we don't know what happened to him. We tried to call on a few occasions but his phone was not in service"
It took close to 5 full days, the first day his sawsall died so about 2 hrs were lost then and on the 2nd day he had a building inspector check his installation at a previous job(just as he will have to do when my job gets inspected) . Otherwise I felt he did a good amount of work every day. I have a friend who is a retired plumber who told me that any plumber who is proud of his work will take before and after pictures, He came with a binder full! He is well versed in installing these units (they are from Italy and slowly they are making their way in the USA.) I did research on them and I feel like I'm on the cutting edge of technology with this Unit. It is mounted on the wall and is very quiet. He showed me how it works. He was clean (every day the floor was swept and all his tools were neatly stored) Nick gave a written contract that spelled out all the work to be done. My final cost was more then the contract stated, but than was because the pipe from the main was not large enough,(the hot water would stop after 20 min) and I decided to buy a new dryer that I wanted next to the washer so both had to be moved and that meant moving pipes. I would not hesitate to reccomend him to anyone.
"Member fails to mension he was trying to build a house with no permits or inspections. He failed on providing us with plumbing walls in two locations which were required and agread upon , He was unhappy because we would not cut threw Main supports and break plumbing codes. He also fails to tell you that he used fawl and offensive language and threatned to kill me in front of my crew of men. Member breached our contract by threatning bodily harm.We removed our people and tools from the job. Never to return. Islip town Plumbing board reviewed the case and ruled that my actions were correct and justified. Member was under investigation by islip town Building department for his actions."
