Auto Service
I had a problem with a Check Engine Light on one of my cars. Several mechanics had looked at it and were unable to properly diagnose it. One of them is among my best friends in the world and a mechanic of many years' experience, and he was stumped.
Then I brought the car to B&D because of several local word-of-mouth recommendations. It's a local, family-owned shop that's also a NAPA car care center, so you have the best of both worlds as far as that goes: a local shop with a national connection.
The owner, Joe, can a bit on the gruff side; but the office manager, Sheila, is sweet enough to balance him out. They have three excellent mechanics and are very prompt about appointments. The waiting room is clean and pleasant, as garages go, and provides free (and decent) coffee, free WiFi, a clean restroom, and cable TV.
More to the point, B&D was able to properly diagnose and fix the stubborn CEL problem for me, and to repair it at a cost that was quite reasonable considering the time and work involved. (It involved dropping the gas tank, which was complicated by the fact that the tank straps and hardware were dangerously rusty.)
The young man who actually did the diagnosis and repair is named Archie, a college-educated auto mechanic who approached the problem scientifically, rather than by randomly replacing parts. The mechanics at other shops I'd talked to had said things like, "Well, we'll try this first, and then we'll try that, and if that doesn't work we'll try the other thing," which is not a scientific approach, in my opinion.
But Archie's a scientist. He tackled the problem in a systematic way, and gave me a definitive diagnosis before he started breaking out his wrenches. He properly and accurately identified the problem, and then he fixed it expertly. When he finished his work, the car passed its state inspection with flying colors.
Cost-wise, when all was said and done, the price was actually less than I had expected. I know what a pain it is to drop the tank in that car, so I thought the labor would be higher. So cost-wise, I was treated very fairly.
Long story short, what else can I ask for? I went to B&D Motors and got an accurate diagnosis, an effective repair, and a price that was lower than I anticipated. So I'm a happy camper. I highly recommend this shop for your auto repair needs.
