The best I can say about Showcase is that they're adequate if all your looking for is a sketch and someone to order new cabinets. If you want someone to guide and supervise your project, then go elsewhere. Our first mistake was hiring their recommended installer, WASA Renovations. Showcase put this firm in business and boasted about their work and commitment to quality and detail. WASA was a complete train wreck!! For details on their performance and the issues we had, please see our separate review for WASA.
The issues that we had with WASA were numerous but the most egregious was their faulty installation of the cooktop and refrigerator which created a safety risk for our family. WASA installed a natural gas cook top when our house uses liquid propane and the gas lines were not done to code. They installed a huge Sub Zero refrigerator without a securing bracket which made it a tipping hazard if two doors were opened at the same time. Showcase was present to "supervise" the install but didn't notice or report these hazardous mistakes. Showcase stated that they only really supervise the cabinet install. So then why send over representatives to view the appliance install if they have no intention or qualifications to protect the client?
Unrelated to Showcase, stay away from Wolf/Sub Zero products. Every appliance that we bought from them was defective and had to be replaced or repaired during the process.
We also received no help from Showcase in choosing or purchasing the kitchen accessories. The marble company they recommended quoted us $40,000 for a small counter area. When we told Showcase that the quote was high, we were told to find another marble dealer. We found the same stone at another shop for $12,000. The same thing occurred on cabinet handles where we found handles for 1/3 the price of the ones shown to us by Showcase. The staff in the showroom is useless and incompetent.
Showcase's "engineer" drew up a sketch for a stainless steel back splash. The drawing called for a 1 1'2 inch thickness in the backsplash when it should have been 5/8 inch. The 1 1/2 inch backsplash was received and installed by WASA under the supervision of Showcase. With the backsplash being too thick it caused the cooktop to stick out too far and was an eyesore. Neither WASA or Showcase brought this error to our attention and it wasn't until we raised the issue did they admit that the backsplash was too thick. The cooktop and backsplash had to be removed and the sheetrock removed in order to set the backsplash into the wall and pull the cooktop back to a reasonable position. Again, errors by Showcase and the installer and insufficient supervision.
We also had to order the backsplash and deal with the manufacturer. Just like we had to order a new pantry door. No help from Showcase on counters, handles, backsplash or the pantry.
As stated at the top, Showcase did a sketch and ordered cabinets. After that point, they contributed nothing to the project and in fact were a detriment. Their recommended installer was incompetent to the point of being dangerous. Their office staff was completely useless in coordinating purchases away from the cabinets. The project managers played no positive role in facilitating the project or in stopping/correcting errors. The engineer screwed up a simple backsplash design. The list goes on.
I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for a kitchen design company.
