Martin Greenberg at Dominion Inspection Services is a first class home inspector. His eye for detail, experience, system knowledge and rapid response are worth every dollar. He came out extremely promptly which helped me get ahead of competitive bids on an aggressively priced property. (He actually inspected the property before we had an executed contract which helped deter other bidders and put us ahead in a competitive auction). Martin gave us some great ideas how to improve the property including external drainage, replacing water heaters, basement sump pumps and garage drainage and lighting. He is extremely thorough without being an alarmist – he provides solutions where he finds problems combined with an estimated repair cost. He issues a homeowners manual, a useful guide book to explain what to service each year, and an estimate of how often to replace internal systems. Lastly, Martin also acts an insurance broker for Chubb and Pure. I decided to switch all of my insurance over to Dominion Risk after getting competitive quotes with Martin. A. Adams, Nov 2019

My wife and I were equally impressed with the level of professionalism and thoroughness of Martin Greenberg's work in inspecting our prospective home in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Mr. Greenberg was careful to explain the details of the inspection process on the phone prior to hiring him for the job, again prior to the inspection, as well as during the inspection.
Mr. Greenberg demonstrated that he clearly loves his work, and cares deeply about the concerns of his client(s). He took the time to explain all aspects of a specific issue, or scenario within the home being inspected. He asked us the right questions in order to understand our needs and concerns, and provided an overall invaluable education on the various aspects of home ownership and maintenance. I give Martin Greenberg my highest recommendation to any person looking for a fair, very knowledgable and professional home inspector.

Marty Greenberg was recommended to us by my real estate agent. Lesson learned; get someone completely independent. Everything started smooth enough, He arrived on time and was courteous and professional. We started outside. This is where the problems began. Marty never went on the roof, he simply took out some binoculars and pointed out a few minor problems. Had he gone up he would have noticed a major fault in a pipe collar that ended up costing us money to fix. When we went inside the problems only got worse in hindsight. Starting on the top floor, Marty did not notice some serious ceiling discoloration, that we being fools just thought was paint stains. When we had someone come in to paint soon after the painter immediately said "do you know you have a leak in the roof?" Turns out due to the faulty pipe collar we had a significant amount of water damage in the attic. Upon inspecting the kitchen and basement that the gas lines emanate from, Marty never mentioned there being any problem with the lines being made of flexible copper tubing. Turns out that is not only against code, but completely unsafe. Luckily enough my lawyer told me i should have con-ed and do an inspection before we actually move in. Thankfully we did. As soon as the con-ed employee entered the basement he said "you have a gas leak". He saw the copper tubing and told us legally he had to shut off service immediately. Luckily we still had another place to live. We had to have the lines replaced with black steel pipes as per code. Another issue that any decent inspector should have caught that ended up costing us money. This one just happened to cost about as much as the home inspection itself. Finally we upgraded wood insect inspection for an additional fee. We had no idea that the previous owner had a terminex protection system installed. When Marty showed up he said he didn't have to actually inspect anything for wood insects, but still insisted on charging the additional fee. Turns out the were several spots of insect damage around the house. No way of knowing if Marty would have caught these or not had he inspected, but the point is that he didn't do something we paid for.
Long story short, You will not get any additional insight from a home inspection from Dominion Risk Management as you would get from your Father In-Law doing a walk-through. If I were to add up the costs of issues we had to fix that Marty should have caught, it has easily been 3+ times the cost of the inspection itself.

Martin Greenberg, the agent I worked with, is a real gem! He provided more than I could have hoped for-- technical expertise, professionalism, punctuality, job knowledge, compassion, and innovation when suggesting improvements. Although his company is in New York, he provided excellent service to me in Connecticut. Do not hesitate to use this provider.
