Chris Burke is not a licensed contractor. He presented "proof" that he was, as well as, "proof of insurance" but both were false. He was doing a roofing job. We had confidence that he could accomplish the task of putting a roof on a roofless single story building. We were going to order trusses, he said it would be better and more cost efficient to build them. So, we bought the supplies. After the trusses began to be installed we noticed that nothing was flush/lined up, when we mentioned this to him, he said it was the building and proceeded to put the metal roof on. It had as many waves as an ocean, he screwed it anyway and every place except for where the screws were supposed to go, and he didn't even use the strapping. With taking every payday afternoon off and every day after payday off, the job was running weeks behind. We had someone come and look at the roof, we have a ton of pictures and even in the pictures the waves in the roofing is noticeable. We had to hire someone to deconstruct what he had done at that point we found out that none of the trusses were an accurate measurement, every truss was off by 1 to 4 inches. One evening it was raining and we went to look at the job and see if it was ok. He did not cover anything. The gaping hole that should have had a roof on it was not even covered with the house sized tarp. We had to do that ourselves in the pouring rain trying to protect materials and flooring from being ruined. We stopped by one day when he was putting up trusses and he used a stack of new sheet rock to give his ladder more leverage. We made him get off the ladder and we moved the sheet rock back to where it was prior to him stacking it for height? I was at a loss for words. In retrospect I see that his work ethics, productivity and reliability are virtually non-existent. We have since found out that he had been sued multiple times already. We did not know about Angie's list and really wanted to put this out there so that people who really need people, find the right people. Hard enough sometimes to pay for a job that you need done, but then to have to pay to have it taken apart, new supplies purchased and the entire project rebuilt is just insane. BEWARE! PLEASE do not hire him, please take this as what it is, we learned the hard way. We do not want to see other people suffer the way we have.
Description of Work: Chris Burke was hired to put a metal roof on, insulation and strapping; the other roof had been already dismantled; and covered with a house tarp per his request.
