We had been using Thompson Property Maintenance (Scott Thompson) to do our lawn cutting since 2008. He offered to edge and mulch and do some minor trimming during the middle of the season this year. We (unfortunately) didn't ask for an estimate, but thought he would charge a fair price since we were regular customers. He hit us with a bill for $2,500!! We were floored!! Other landscapers had charged less than $1,000 for the same work in the past, and we got a new, up-to-date estimate from another landscaper that totaled only $1,200. We've made several attempts to get Scott to refund the overpayment to no avail. We are now taking him to small claims court. Steer clear of this *very* dishonest business owner. **UPDATE** We won our small claims court case, and Mr. Thompson was ordered to pay us a refund of $1,200. He did (as we expected) attempt to appeal the judgement, but after four months of review, the County court's final decision was still in our favor and we received a refund for $1,200, which was the amount we asked for.
