UNIQUE RESTORATION & REMODELING

Don't let these crooks into your house! Unique Restoration & Remodeling was sent to my house at the request of my insurance company in September 2011 due to a flood in my basement. I did not hire them, so I had no estimate and my insurance company gave me no information. They cut out sheetrock in 3 little rooms and a foyer, moved around some appliances and furniture and left some fans behind. About a week later, I sat down with my insurance adjuster to go over the estimate. He estimated that Unique Restoration would charge around $2,000. When I received the 13 page invoice in the mail, I was shocked to discover that the bill for their exorbitant fees totaled almost $6,600! That's almost $6,600 for one day's work. Two people worked at my house for 12 hours, left some fans for 2 days and they are charging almost $6,600? Are they kidding? This is criminal. To put this $ amount in perspective, I have an estimate for the entire basement to be renovated, including removing all the walls and ceilings and replacing all of the sheetrock for $7,500. The contractors will work at my house for days and weeks to restore my basement for $7,500 and Unique wants almost $6,600 for one day's work. This is not only criminal, it is insurance fraud. This means that I will get absolutely nothing from my Insurance company because of the fact that my limit for this type of damage is only $5,000. My insurance company (Nationwide) sent these crooks to my house. Don't let them into your house. It is very apparent that this company needs to be put out of business for insurance and consumer fraud.

The job took 4 weeks, at 6 days a week. This was longer than the original estimate of 2 to 2 1/2 weeks, due mainly to the difficulties encountered in certain areas. The workers did a complete clean-up every evening, and while there was obviously a fair amount of disruption with such a big job, they did all they could to minimize the inconvenience.
