Our mission is to provide high quality construction services on time and within budget while developing and maintaining long-lasting relationships with our clients.
As you can see from the date of this posting, the work was done some time ago. This job included a lot of miscellaneous repair and improvement tasks, as part of a basement renovation. The work to be done wasn't very "glamorous", but the workers were extremely cooperative and went out of there way to do a good job. They were some of the best contractors who have ever worked on my house.
Description of Work: Miscellaneous remodeling, electrical, and painting work in basement level of house.

Response from Prime Home Renovations Corp
[removed member name], Thank you for sharing your opinion about our services. I would like to address each category grade that you indicated in your review. Responsiveness: you contacted me via phone call on October 11, 2013. I asked if you could send me an email with the address of your project site in order to schedule our meeting. Your email came at 12:09pm that afternoon and I responded within two hours at 2:08pm. In your email you requested to meet on the following day - October 12, 2013 at 1:00pm and mentioned that you would like to begin the work as early as the following week afterwards. Since the time frame of your project was urgent, even though we usually do not schedule any appointments during weekends, I responded to you confirming the time and the place of our meeting. Punctuality: on October 12, 2013, which was a Saturday, I arrived at the project site by 1:00pm. Five minutes later or so, as I was waiting for you outside, I noticed that you and your partner had arrived. You were talking to one of the neighbors down the street. The conversation lasted for over 20 minutes. Even though you did notice me standing outside of your property, you continued the conversation and only around 1:30pm you decided to walk up to me and finally begin our meeting. I did not mention to you anything about your punctuality at that time. Professionalism: several days after our meeting, while looking at my schedule for that week I realized that it would be difficult for me to provide you with an estimate on time and sent you an email on October 15, 2013. In my email I informed you that unfortunately, due to my hectic schedule, I would not be able to provide you with my services. I did not receive any communication from you until October 21, 2013. You were inquiring about the estimate since you said that you do not remember receiving one. Since I was away during that time, I only got the chance to respond to your inquiry on October 28, 2013. In my last response I wrote that I apologize for the late response and that several days after our meeting I sent you an email letting you know of my schedule; and after not receiving anything back from you, I had assumed that you found a contractor for your apartment. I also apologized for the miscommunication and expressed the hope that everything had worked with your project. Hence, I did have the decency to inform you of my abilities on providing the service. However, it was not based on whether I dislike or "like the look of the job". Thank you. Best regards, Akmal Muhamatkulov

I called and left a message and Akmal Muhamatkulov called me back the same day. After getting the details of what I wanted done he asked me when I wanted to start the work. Since I was ready to start the work soon he told me it would be a 7 month wait. I appreciated his being upfront with me that he was not available at this time to do the work. If I decide to wait and get the work done then I would certainly call him again for a proposal.
Description of Work: I contacted Prime Home Renovations Corp. to get a proposal for a kitchen renovation.
Prime Home Renovations is the best contractor I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I have been in the real estate business for over 20 years and because of all the buyers and sellers I have worked with I have been involved with hundreds of renovations over the years. The owner, Akmal is terrific! He?s an intelligent, straight shooter that gets the job done on time and on budget! He oversees a crew of professionals who are hardworking and conscientious. Prime Home Renovations does excellent, high quality work. I would recommend them and work with them again without hesitation.
Description of Work: We were preparing our NYC apartment for sale. The work included skim coating and painting all the walls and ceilings, refinishing floors (sanding + staining etc), installation of new base moulding and repair or crown moulding, custom building and installation of louvered heat/air conditioner covers throughout. Supply and installation of granite counter top with under-counter sink with faucet in kitchen. Baths were regrouted and tubs reglazed.

My first impression was very positive. They seemed very professional and knowledgeable. My project involved a slightly complicated loft plan as well as standard bathroom remodel and painting. After some email back and forth, I decided against the loft idea as it was too complex. I had requested an estimate from Prime for estimate of 2 bathroom remodels and painting. Over two months, I requested status on estimate always getting a response with a new promised deadline. Each deadline was missed and I never received an estimate. I always said to them if they were not interested in the work, then just say so and we can both save each other time.
Description of Work: They visited my apartment to meet to me and review the work I was looking to do.

I've done a lot of construction in my years. I've seen a lot of crews. I will say without any hesitation or qualifiers, these guys are among the best I've ever worked with. The project on our loft took 9 months. We lived here during the construction. Prime Home was very respectful of this situation and took pains to isolate the work areas and protect the rest. The quality of work was always top notch. My wife and I designed several unusual concepts which required a builder who is knowledgeable, creative and thorough. I didn't mention the price in my ratings because I didn't need to get several bids. I knew these guys would get the job done right and I am willing to pay for peace of mind. Akmal Muhamatkulov and crew were easy to work with as they did not include any attitude other than making sure we were absolutely pleased with everything we asked them to do.
Akmal and his team are the best general contractor you can get in the NYC. You will agree with me when you read this story: I used to own one appartment, and we decided to renovate the kitchen. Living in Michigan most of the year, and not knowing any contractor in the city, not being aware of angie's list, we hired Klein Kitchen. What a disaster... I gave them a key, came back after 6 weeks, they did only demolition which would take only one day... I was so disappointed. Every little thing that came up, they were asking more money... They made me signed a contract where I had to pay almost all of the money, before they even finish the half of the work... We were on the call arguing all the time...Then I bought the apartment down stairs, and decided to combine both... They suddenly became nice to me hopping that they would get the work for combining both. Then I found out angie's list and asked couple of general contractors to bid the work... That is how I met with Akmal and his team at prime home renovation. However, I still made a mistake of giving some of the works such as opening a hole on the floor and building a stairs to a different company (american stairs), hoping that they are specialized on this and can do a better job. What a mistake! They opened the hole not by city code, they build the stairs without enough support etc... I hired another contractor to do some of the demolition, they charged me "expediating" fee (Danconia interiors), which means they will do the work faster but I need to pay "extra"-$3,000. These companies were A star companies at Angie's list! I could not believe this! Can't I have a one decent contractor in the New York City? A contractor that I can trust!, I can leave my keys, and make sure that they will do a good job even if I am not here! Then I met with Akmal and his team... First time when they came, they carry some furniture to basement for me... I did not even tell them I would hire them... Through out the project, they DID So many things without asking any extra money. Every thing they did was extremely good quality... I would be able to tell because I could see the other contractors work in the apartment... They did the downstairs bathroom in 10 days... Klein kitchen did upstairs bathroom in 3 months, they are both same size bathrooms. Tiles that Klein kitched did was cracked, uneven, the faucet was leaking, the job for the bathroom that Akmal and his team did was A+ quality... They had to fix everything the other contractor did... I live in a small co-op, where they hate remodeling... They complain every single time they have a chance too... Prime home renovation was not only dealing with other contractor's mess but also needy neighbors's request. They were calling him in the middle of night for something he is not responsible for... He managed all of these things PERFECTLY... He was always available. I have so many people asked his number after they see my place... I had to build central AC to my appartment, the guy who put AC (ameritec), was extremely pleased with the quality of work that was done in the apartments , he started hiring prime home renovation, if his clients asks for remodelers... FOR ANY REMODELING JOB YOU NEED IN NEW YORK, YOUR SEARCH SHOULD STOP HERE! YOU CAN NOT FIND ANY ONE BETTER FOR THIS COMPANY. I tried sooo many before, my only regret during this renovation was meeting with this team late... Thank you again, for the great job!
Description of Work: They combined the two apartment into single apartment. 1. They did doors 2. They painted walls 3. From scratch they build two rooms upstairs with drywalls 3. They re-did the ceiling 4. They did wood floors 5. Entire lights and electrical system in the appartments (it was an old building, needs to be upgraded) spotlights, special pendant lights 6. Entire plumbing 7. They remodeled the bathrooms (I used another contractor earlier for the other bathroom, it was a big mistake, you can easily see the differences in quality of work-see below- Prime home renovation actually corrected other contractor's (kleinkitchen-stay away from them!)- mess) 8. They did carpentry work (I actually hire another carpenter, he chose a wrong wood, there was a color differences, they corrected his work as well) 9. They secure the stairs (again I hired american stair company- but they did such a crappy job, not by the code, so prime home renovation corrected their stairs as well). 10. When american stair company hired a sub contractor to open a hole to build the stairs, that subcontractor also did not do the job by the code- prime home renovation stepped in and did the work by the code. 11. They opened up the wall and bring the brick out, they cleaned the brick. 12. They removed fire place, to close up the space, they found 100 years old bricks... They did such a good job, you can not even tell there was a fire place there before...13. They did the trims on the floor and trims around the window, replicating the antique look...

My husband and I decided to invest our savings to purchase a 6 family building in need of gut renovation. Since we worked with Akmal (the owner of Prime Home Renovations) in the past we felt very comfortable consulting with him about this project and we asked him for an estimate. Akmal promptly provided a detailed estimate that included all the work that needed to be done. He also warned us about the possible risks and hidden costs of the whole project. We decided to hire Akmal and once again this turned out to be the right decision. The main quality that made us chose Akmal was his honestly and sense of responsibility. He never tried to overcharge us nor recommended additional work that was unnecessary in order to make more money. All his pieces of advice were dictated by the fact that he really cares about his clients and projects. He also has a very good taste in design and will give you great advice if you'll ask him. He took a lot of personal risks as the project was very long and tricky. There were indeed several "bumps on the road" (caused by other people's mistakes) that Akmal helped us solving. He just went above and beyond and did his job in an outstanding manner, professionally supervising the whole project. Every time we needed, he connected us with skilled architects, plumbers, electricians, inspectors, engineers. He was on the job site everyday for more than a year (that is how long the project took) and his guys were always professional and just as kind as he is. The quality of their work is outstanding and some of them have skills of fine artisans, therefore if you are looking for customized woodwork or brickwork, Akmal and his crew will be able to deliver very high quality work. Overall I'm very happy we hired Akmal not only because he did a great job but also because this choice turned out to be a great investment. Every property we bought and renovated with Akmal's help, acquired a much higher value and we noticed that we were able to literally double the rent after the renovations. Everybody appreciates long lasting and high quality renovations and Akmal is able to deliver these at more than fair prices.

He arrived reasonably on time, but I have not received a proposal for the work we discussed. We had difficulties communicating directly between Hotmail and Gmail but I provided alternate means of communication none of which have been used to contact me. He seems like a very nice young man so I believe he was just extremely busy at the time I contacted him.

I was having guest come over for a party and my walls were rusty and chipped of paint. Some of the walls even had holes in them that needed fixture. I called Prime Home Renovations, Corp and they were ready and willing to work on my project. The price was reasonable and their painting job was just superb.

Everything went smoothly, from initial visit to give an estimate, to spreading drop-cloths, to the actual work, to cleanup. The one (somewhat mysterious) complaint was that after they left, we found something written in pencil on the painted windowsill. I called the contractor, who was very surprised but apologized profusely. No actual damage done.
Description of Work: Removed old acoustical ceiling tile, replaced it with drywall, installed crossbeam to support light fixture (one of the workers demonstrated the crossbeam to me by doing pull-ups on it), installed junction box for light fixture, painted drywall.
After renovating an entire townhouse with Akmal (the owner of Prime Home Renovations), my husband and I were so happy with the quality of the work that we decided to hire him again to renovate our basement apartment before renting it out. Akmal and his crew were incredibly skilled, courteous, precise and the quality of their work is OUTSTANDING. They showed up EVERYDAY at work, finished the work exactly when they estimated and were always available for any questions, changes of plans and unexpected situation that constructions might bring. Akmal was always able to address professionally any issues that came up. We relied on him 100% and we are now renting our apartment for double the rent of what the previous owner was charging (and before the renovations happened). Akmal is not only an outstanding contractor and very hardworking person, but he's very honest and his prices are extremely fair and reasonable. He will also give you good pieces of advice on what's necessary and what's not in order to make your place beautiful and get the best value out of it. We will keep using Prime Home Renovations in the future and we keep recommending it to everyone we know.

Our experience with Akmal was fabulous. He is an outstanding contractor and very honest person. When I first contacted him, he came over for an estimate and gave me plenty of insights about the kind of work that needed to be done. My husband and I had just bought a small townhouse in Brooklyn and we had no idea where to start from. Akmal was incredibly patient, kind and knowledgeable. He was very upfront about the amount of work , costs and possible challenges that the project could present. We trusted him since day one, and we are so happy now that the project is finished because the quality of his work really exceeded our expectations. I've never seen such a good quality work in New York, especially for these prices. Not only Akmal's prices are extremely reasonable but he also doesn't charge you for every little thing. He was always available for us, helped us solving any kind of problems we had with the house and put us in touch with other contractors for jobs that he doesn't do (for instance he found us a roofer, an iron work store, a chimney specialist and a shower door specialist). Our house is now really beautiful and full of details that makes it unique. We didn't have an architect, but honestly with few good ideas and some brainstorming with Akmal you won't even need one. For instance we had a bearing wall that we wanted to partially knock down; Akmal suggested putting a wooden beam to support the ceiling which was a fantastic idea since now we have a beautiful beam that adds even more character to the house. His crew is incredibly skilled, polite and respectful. His guys were always on time and cleaned the site everyday after work. I could mention many more things that make Akmal a great contractor. We will keep recommending him to all our friends and family and we look forward to working with him again soon.
Description of Work: Gut renovation of a two floor townhouse. Demolition, plastering, skim coating, kitchen cabinet installation, installed new windows and built new frames, installed new doors, built baseboards, complete renovation of 2 bathrooms, partial renovation of powder room, several woodworks, built a new interior staircase, built new closets, installed hardwood floor, installed subway tiles, installed marble tiles, sanding and staining of existing hardwood floor, painting.
Akmal and his crew (2 people) were punctual, clean, quiet, and polite while they worked. They removed all construction debris and the room was swept clean in between their visits. They arrived on time, did what they were contracted to do plus some (skim coating the other three walls that did not have new sheetrock). Through a fault of mine, the cork ceiling tile was not ordered in time, so Akmal finished the rest of the job and returned when the tiles were available. He'd never worked with cork but was very willing and happy to read the manufacturers installation instructions. The final product is excellent. We love the ceiling, the bedroom is warmer due to the insulation and we couldn't be happier. We look forward to hiring Akmal again to work on the remaining two bedrooms.
Description of Work: Remove sheet rock, insulate wall (vapor barrier, insulation bats, new sheetrock), sheetrock ceiling, move two electrical outlets, refinish floor (done by his sub-contractor), install cork tile one ceiling, paint bedroom, install baseboard moulding.

We recently needed to hire a General Contractor for the renovation of our Co-op Apartment. It was a major undertaking for us. It involved the complete demolition of two bathrooms and Kitchen, removal of a wall, new wiring, plumbing, new doors, crown and case moldings, installation of new kitchen cabinets and painting of the entire apartment. We had heard the stories of how a renovation can go horribly wrong if you have the wrong contractor. After doing our due diligence we met with the few who actually showed up. When we met with Akmal Muhamatkulov from Prime Home Renovation our concerns were soon put to rest. Akmal listened to what we wanted done and took care of everything. He followed all the rules and regulations of the co-op and was always considerate of our neighbors. He was professional and his crew talented, hardworking and respectful. Akmal was always available to answer any questions and updated us daily on progress and next steps. We were most impressed with the great pride he took in his work. He held everyone working on the project accountable to do a good job. As with any project this size unforeseen issues come up. When they did he always gave us reasonable options to address them. His answer to any request was always “no problem “. We never felt stuck or backed into a corner. Akmal delivered on his promise and stands by his work. We are now moved into our new apartment and could not be more pleased. Akmal is a great guy and we would without hesitation recommend him and Prime Home renovation.

My parents had water damage to their basement entrance. The damage was due to seepage through tiles on the outdoor porch. I spoke with Akmal and gave a brief description of the problem . I mentioned the porch probably needed to be retiled and new sheet rock installed inside. He actually came to my parents home on a Sunday morning to do the estimate. He was prompt and courteous and began to assess the damage. He soon told me that he had other "big jobs" and would probably not be able to start the project until 3-4 months. I wondered why he didn't convey this information over the phone, when we arranged the meeting. It would have saved his time and mine. He seemed to lose interest in anything else I was showing him. I expressed that we didn't want to wait that long. He did take my email address. Initially, I didn't receive his email, but he recently reached out to me and forwarded the original email.

I had a great experience with them. The guy was very punctual. I really liked him. He was very professional. I cannot speak of his work yet as I have not seen anything, but so far it has been good. The quote was broken down as per the work. The quote was for over $30,000. I would consider them for a future quote.
Description of Work: Prime Home Renovations, Corp. gave me an estimate for renovation work, a month ago. They will be doing everything, including plumbing, electrical, kitchen remodeling, flooring, painting; etc.
I was forced at the very last minute to fire a contractor I had hired to do the above-indicated work. On Angie' s List I found Prime Home Renovations. They either answered the call or called me right back. They were willing to come to my residence THE VERY SAME DAY in order to provide an estimate. I was working under extreme time constraints, as I had a renter who expected to move in in two weeks and the proposed Renovations were written into the sublease agreement. Based on the professionalism shown by Prime Home Renovations, within 24 hours, I emailed them my acceptance of the estimate. I was in the process of moving out of the New York area and would not be around for the following two weeks. Akmal Muhamatkulov, the owner/contractor of Prime Home Renovations, made yet another visit to my apartment in order for me to sign a contract for the work, pay a deposit for same and receive a set of keys in order to do the work in my absence. I left New York. In the following two weeks, as promised, Prime Home Renovations showed up on a daily basis and completed any and all of the proposed work. Let me make one more important fact about the work done by Prine Home Renovations: their work went ABOVE AND BEYOND the agreed-upon work. I returned to NY two weeks later, saw and inspected the work, was pleased beyond description, and met Akmal one last time to sign the Completion portion of the contract, pay him the remaining balance and THANK HIM for the outstanding performance of Prime Home Renovations. They had accomplished the impossible: a successful contracting job.
Description of Work: Painting of a living room, kitchen, entranceway, hallway, bathroom and one bedroom. Painting included repairing or replacing window frames. A new floor was installed in the kitchen. In the bathroom, new floor tiles were added to a section of the floor that were previously left unfinished. A new vanity and a new sink and faucets were installed. The tile in the tub area was cleaned and repaired. A new glaze was applied to the tub. New ceiling light fixtures were installed in the living room and hallway.
After responding to my email, Akmal came to visit the property and took measurements etc. He emailed a quote, and called to follow up. We agreed on terms and he came out one final time before work commenced to sign paperwork, check insurances, and check the kitchen again. The work team arrived at 8am each day and worked six days, often through to 7 or 730pm, to get the job done.
Description of Work: We needed an old kitchen in a 100-year-old apartment building gutted and prepped, ready for installation of cabinets by another company. This involved removing wallpaper, five layers of flooring, old appliances, cabinets, and countertop, refacing a fixed cabinet, putting down vinyl flooring, dry wall on all walls, fixing electrical issues, adjusting and installing powerpoints/outlets, painting the walls, and installing base and crown molding. Akmal will install appliances (and possibly tile backsplash) shortly. Akmal and his team did the job without any stress, exactly as we discussed on the two site visits, all within a fast time frame, to the agreed budget, with zero complaints, and all at top level. We have been nothing but pleased with the results. They were on time, worked hard and long hours, kept the area as clean as physically possible, and regularly cleaned/mopped/swept. They also made helpful recommendations for flooring, cabinetry etc. Akmal has been a professional from the first correspondence, down to dusting the entry way on his way out. The team of three guys plus him have been a pleasure to have around the (small) apartment and didn't take up a lot of (figurative) space.
