+ -1 moreI did not agree upon going up on the contract in cost since he knew the distance when we signed the contract. I asked for a refund of the money that was paid, but not used yet and he refused to refund me. For the most part, his work was good. There was a few shabby, sloppy jobs I found he had done upon closer inspection, but for the most part, his work was good. I would have continued to use him and pay him if he simply honored his contract, but instead he turned it into a fiasco taking my money and running. This caused big problems for him since I reported him to the Better Business Bureau and the Department of Consumer Affairs. As it turns out, he was not licensed properly, like he said he was, and has an incredibly big fine to pay now with the DCA. It is too bad he couldn't simply honor the contract he made with me in the first place.
Description of Work: I have a two family home that was burned in a fire. Joseph Imhof came in after a really bad contractor to do all the finish work from top to bottom. He was suppose to redo from scratch two kitchens, three bathrooms, install all the fixtures, trim, tile, and a lot more for this big project. Joe quoted me $30,000 for the job. He wanted me to pay him in three installments. He worked for 1.5 months and left under agreement by me to go do some work at another site for a bit where he proceeded to hurt his back. He took about 1.5 months off and this was understandable to me. I was patient in waiting for him to recover. When he came back, he decided he wanted more money for the job and that it was a bit of distance to come out and do this job. I had already paid him his second installment of which there was still about $7,000 worth of work he still needed to do to make that money good.
