The new sewer line was installed in one 8hr day. The site was back filled and leveled and compacted with new gravel.
All work was done quickly and in a professional manor. Basically no down time for me. I used my bathroom later that day.
I had a bit of a timing issue, as I needed to get the bubbler system in before the new driveway, and Rick was willing to work with me on that. We agreed on getting it done before the first week of August. He called me early one morning a week later saying that he had a cancellation, and asked if he could do the work that day. Since I wanted it done as soon as possible, I said that was fine. His crew came out within a couple hours and dug the drainage ditch, laid the PVC pipe, and covered it back up. Everything was done nice and neatly, and so far, it seems to be working well...no more discharge onto my driveway or grass. We'll see this winter how well it works. I'm just hoping it doesn't freeze up, which could potentially damage my sump pump.
I gave Rick's team an "A" in everything, except Professionalism, as for whatever reason, they left a plastic downspout redirection pipe, but took with them an aluminum downspout elbow, and an 8 ft black corrugated drainage pipe I had to redirect my sump pump discharge to the grass. I'm not sure why they didn't leave those two items as well. Not a huge deal, although I did purchase them recently, and could have used the drainage pipe elsewhere.
Overall, I'm pleased so far with their work, and would consider calling them again for future plumping work.
I couldn't be more pleased with RIC Plumbing. Owners Rick Kuhn (father) and Steve Kuhn (son) were very professional and great to work with. Steve was "on-sight" to work along with his crew and supervise the entire job.
One of our bubbler systems was blocked and sump pump water would spray out of the piping next to the foundation wall where the gutter downspout and sump drain join together. Due to soils settlement, the piping out to the street was damaged and the proper fix was to install a new line from the house to the street curb. RIC dug a 12" wide trench down the lawn and used plywood to protect the lawn from machinery and soil piled adjacent to the trench. They had to carefully dig through the maze of underground utilities (gas, electric, telephone, fiber) that route across our property near the street. They coordinated all markings with the utility companies prior to starting the job. After the trench was dug, new pipe was installed, trench was backfilled, soils were tamped and the lawn was restored to original condition.
I also had RIC perform a video inspection of the house sewer line because other homes in the neighborhood have experienced pipe failures due to the poor soil conditions. Low and behold, the pipe was sheared just past the foundation wall. The pipe had been damaged and misaligned for some time and I was lucky to have not experienced a blockage. Sewer water was passing through the area of the break with a small 1" (at best) opening and it amazed RIC that we had not experienced problems. All I can say is thank goodness we found the problem BEFORE it became an emergency such as during the middle of winter just experienced. The video inspection is an easy process (at least RIC made it look that way) and it was fascinating to watch the camera on the video screen.
I highly recommend RIC for plumbing work!
RIC plumbing are clearly experts in this type of work. They were also extremely responsive (called back within 30 minutes, and showed up at my home within a few hours). I have had several incidents needing sewer line cleaning service due to tree roots clogging my sewer line, and damaged/separated sections of pipe. When the water showed up in the basement again, I knew it was time to take of the problem once and for all, and find a place I could trust to do it right. In addition to getting a quote for sewer line excavation/repair, when I told them that I needed rapid assistance (couldn't shower or even flush without bad things happening in the basement) they responded immediately. They were friendly and courteous, informative about everything they were doing and planning to quote, and extremely quick and efficient in their work. Their quote for the permanent fix to my problems was approx $2000 less than the big chain, and will require less digging of my yard and less chance of damaging my big beautiful tree. I look forward to working with them again when the work is scheduled in the next week or two for the permanent repair to my sewer line.
All around professionals with the expertise to give the very best service. I highly recommend them.In the end they were done in 5 hours , cleaned up and what made this most interesting was the day before I knew they were coming we had a problem with my next door neighbor who owns the driveway near the work area. She was very adamant that we don't do any work if it infringes on her property. They took ultimate care not to do any digging if it were on her property or driveway. They ended up having to dig by hand in very cold weather when they could have used a machine, but because they knew the sensitivity of the situation were very good about making sure to take picture before and after as well as digging out the trench by hand to ensure there was no breach.
I have to say, over the years I have hired many contractors, something I dont particularly care for. This comany was the best contractor/ plumber I have ever worked with bar none. I hated t part with all that money, but I am glad I chose this company and not the other, which was not on Angies list, but was a referral from a friend.
When it came time for the work to be done, we couldn't have been more impressed. The entire crew was respectful, professional and worked quickly. After they finished, they even replaced an old toilet with a new one I bought free of charge! We were extremely happy with RIC and highly recommend them.
The sewer line would be replaced by a heavy duty liner without digging up my front yard. RIC would dig a hole in my basement where the sewer line started.. Then dig a hole between the sidewalk and the curb where they would pull the 70 foot by 4 inch liner with a hydraulic winch made for this. Check out the video on their site: http://www.ricplumbing.com/.
Scott said on the first day they would dig the hole in the basement. The next day dig the hole by the curb. The hole in the basement took until 11:Am and they were gone leaving the house as clean as when they started. The next morning the entire crew showed up, SIX people plus equipment. They were done by 2:00. I was most impressed with the professionalism of the entire team and the attention to detail. Of all the contractors I have ever hired in my entire life, this was my best experience.
The crew was professional and friendly. They answered all questions and the final bill was exactly the amount of the estimate.
