They did a terrific job.  I wish that I would have inspected the piece of granite before they installed it so that I would have been more satisfied with the piece.

We shopped for granite at this and one other company in the area. The presentation made by the other company was more thorough, in terms of the way they would approach the work, and the pricing for various types of granite were generally comparable. But we were working with a project manager who had a very negative experience with the other firm and recommended International Stone. What and quot;sealed the dealand quot; was the fact that we saw a piece of granite at International Stone that was absolutely beautiful and that we hadn't seen anywhere else (including online). The other firm said it was not able to get this granite through its wholesalers. The unique quality of the stone is what drove up the cost and, although this may not be fair, is the reason why I scored International a and quot;Band quot; on price.

International held the raw granite until we got far enough along in our project (involved complete kitchen tear-out) that we were getting close to installation. They then sent out a representative to construct templates of the two countertop areas. They also consulted with us to establish the type of edge we wanted and to see if we had any preferences about which sections of the stone would placed in which sections of the countertops (pattern of the stone was random). We also discussed the details of the under-mounting of the sink because I had concerns about other installations I had seen - e.g., sloppy matching of cut-out to shape of sink, sloppy caulking, consuming too much space inside the cabinet for bracing, etc. One edge of the layout serves as a breakfast counter. This had to be limited to 12and quot; due to concerns about sheering without bracing. We would have preferred more length, but understand the risk.

Their crews came out when scheduled. The installation went smoothly. Their work was solid and neat. They use a 3/8and quot; negative reveal for the sink installation which looks nice and did a clean job of caulking. The cutouts for the sink and the gas cooktop and the holes for the faucets were cut perfectly and the countertops fit the cabinet layout just right. We're very happy with the results. We hope it lasts a very long time.

We picked out a beautiful stone at their scrap yard with correct colors and vein orientations. They ended up giving the stone to someone else! They replaced it with the mirror image of the same type. Vein orientations reversed. The template guy made a mistake and the stone was 1/4" off on one side producing a gap. I kept the stone and took up the gap with a tile backsplash. Other than that and some minor delays we are happy with our purchase. They were significantly cheaper than the competition. Only the owner can quote a price. The sales people just write up the order. Be nice to the owner is the moral of the story.

This project was a bit complicated. A quartz product that we originally selected was brought to our home and installed. Within minutes it became apparent that there was a defect in the manufacture of the quartz slab. The defect became visible after the stone was positioned on our cabinets.
It was absolutely not the fault of International Stone Gallery.
The installer took immediate measures to contact his supervisor and report the problem.
Since the defect could not be repaired we were encouraged to select another stone.
Without going into extensive detail, I will summarize by saying that everyone who works for this company assisted us in selecting a slab of granite that looks wonderful in our kitchen.
The second installation was done in a timely and professional manner.
Despite the defect in the quartz, International Stone Gallery should receive a positive evaluation based all other aspects of the transaction.
When a problem arises and is dealt with efficiently and effectively the company deserves a very positive review.

they are a great company to do business with. Everyone is very nice and professional - very personable to work with. The only caveat I would give is to find out how busy they are when you pick out your stone. We called them ( as we were instructed) on the day our cupboard installer started. The date they gave us to make a template was 4 and 1/2 weeks later. After the template was done it only took them three days for the countertop to be installed. They did an absolutely fabulous job on the cutting and installing of the granite.
It was a long time to wait when you have no countertops. It was not difficult for us as there are just the two of us. We kept the heavy cardboard that our new appliances came in and used that for the countertop and hooked up our old sink. It could get rather difficult if there were children in the house. They were very busy when we called as late spring and summer is a popular time to do remodeling.

About a week from template to install. Looks great. I found a beautiful pattern that happened to be a very large slab. This worked out better than originally planned as the 16' long L shaped counter has 1 seam since the slabs were just over 10 ft long. Everyone who sees it loves it. Thanks Sommer.

We drove to the shop. Picked out a stone. Asked for an estimate in home (they have to come measure). They wouldn't give us an appointment there, but took the color and I think they may have even set the slab aside for us. Said 'we'll call you'.
I recall having to harass them to get a measurement appointment. It was not easy. I actually got a mutual friend to call the owner and say 'what's up'. When the guy came, he clearly knew his stuff. We got absolutely fantastic advice on edging, seams, shape. He was quick, to the point ,and dead on with all his reco's. 2 years later and everything he said is true and worked out.
I wasn't there for the install, but we did have to hound them to show up. Non-committal. Run around stuff. More what I would have expected from home improvement in the 70's not the 21st century.
If they could kick up the service, even someone to answer the phone or return calls or just schedule appointments and keep them, they would be the best.
I would contact them again and manage them accordingly. The end result was great, the service brutal. Price in the ballpark.

They were awesome. They were very good people. They took their time with us. Everybody there was polite. The owner was the one who came to the house to do the estimate. They did an awesome job. The materials were great. I had them come back because I did not like a little thing. I called them and the next day they came to fix it. We are going to use them again.

They were really awesome. They're very nice and they have a good selection. They were helpful and the installers were really awesome. I wasn't here for the install but my husband was and he said they were very professional and knowledgeable. We are certainly very happy with the finished product. They called a couple days after the install and confirmed that everything was okay and it was. I think countertops are expensive in general no matter where I go. I wouldn't say they're the cheapest place, but they aren't the most expensive either. They have pretty standard pricing. They set an appointment time for the installation and they were here on time.

They were phenomenal. Paddy is the girl up front who helps you with the installation and in picking the stones. She goes beyond customer service. The guys who did the installation were unbelievable. They took their time and did a great job. They matched everything perfectly. I can’t tell you enough good things about them.

The granite is beautiful and was installed exactly the way we wanted it. In every room with granite, the granite immediately becomes the focal point of the room. We looked at several granite yards for our home, and International Stone had by far the best selection of stones. Everyone on the staff is friendly and talented.

I looked at several granite yards for my new home, and International Stone had by far the best selection of stones, especially the ones with the large amount of movement that I liked. I would certainly recommend International Stone Gallery to my friends and family, and I will use them if I ever build another new house or remodel. Thank you very much International Stone Gallery!

[Note, added several years later:] I was just at the Buffalo Home Show and was accosted by Somers Sherman, the owner of International Stone Gallery, at his booth there. I was astonished and horrified when he berated me loudly about the "bad" report I had put on Angie's List. He accused me of costing him business because of it. I actually became defensive at first, and said he lost business because he didn't keep his promises, held-up the job with his repeatedly broken ETAs, inconvenienced everyone else concerned and was unreachable whenever this happened. (I soon learned to show up at his business at 7-7:30 AM if I needed to talk to him and he wasn't returning phone calls. He was there every morning to dispatch his crews for the day, since apparantly the "schedule" they had set up beforehand was not what they actually used to set a day's priorities. Because he needed to be there personally, he couldn't "duck" me.) He acknowleded that he, "might have been late once in a while" (!!!), but said they held him up sometimes, too. I KNOW this was not true on our job. Rather, they were late finishing here because of him, didn't get paid and didn't pay their subs, etc. and had to inconvenience other jobs because of him, also. His thoughtlessness had a big trickle-down effect, nevermind how long it took to finish the job! I did not want to argue with him, so I tried to break-off the scene he was creating by saying, "Somers, don't blame me for this problem the Angie's List report is giving you! It's doing what it's supposed to do....reporting the experoence a customer had. LEARN from what I said. I'm the customer and you are learning my viewpoint...why I won't spend my money with you again. Try to fix what is wrong!" Instead. he answered by retorting, "What goes around comes around!!" My husband and friends think that is a threat, and that I should report it to the authorities, but I feel it is enough right now to report it to you, his potential customers.

It was September of 2006 when International Stone Gallery came to install the countertops. After the job was complete, there was a problem with the installation. I had called them and asked that they come and fix the issue. It was just last week that they came back out to fix their mistake. They would not return my calls, sometimes they would say someone would be out the next day and no one would come. Working with this company had been a nightmare.

Completion of kitchen was substantially delayed due to their failure to complete countertop work. Numerous appointments were made with company rep., but he often failed to show up. Each time, except one, he did not call or leave a message that he would not be coming. A specific material we requested was not produced. Excuses were that ''can't find material needed'', then ''delivery truck came after we were closed'', etc., but investigation revealed that material was never actually ordered. Response to our complaints was that company refused to complete final part of job, returning related sink and hardware to us without prior notice.
