Unable to find a local repair shop for Kindles--they do all kinds of other things but not that. Kindles have a design flaw that allows the port to become disconnected; a common complaint on message boards. Amazon offered to let me buy a new Kindle but I assume they use the same poor labor to make them all. Scoured around tech sites and found Rockhopper who was substantially cheaper than others at $39.95. Usually that's a bad sign, so I sent off my Kindle and my check and prayed for the best. I paid to ship there (around $10.00) and their price included shipping it back plus a bit of a warranty. Item came very well packaged and worked great---until it didn't. Sent another email and we determined it was the mother board. For another $20 plus shipping there, the thing is now working like new. If you send your Kindle out for either repair, I suggest you save the double shipping and replace both the port and the mother board. Alex was so nice to work with that I said I'd pass on my good review to as many places as I could think of. If you can't find a local repair shop or you hate their price, or you want someone who can personally vouch for a repair shop, do check out Rockhopper. They've been in business since 2007 and have a wide array of other services. I only used the Kindle repair.

Great! I called ahead and they ordered the screen for me. They called me when it arrived then I dropped it off and did some shopping and 1hr later it was done!

Great! Dropped it off on Monday picked it up today (Thursday). They removed the old charging port and put a new one in my phone looks the same as when I dropped it off! The quote was spot on and no pushy sales people.
