"[Member Name Removed] told us exactly where to park. There was an impression in the grass, but no damage to the septic system. We demonstrated that to my insurer. [Member Name Removed]withheld the fact that there was a dye test for the plumbing less than 24 hours prior, where they ran the hot water wide open for 2 hours- Which water logged the ground underneath. Had he mentioned that, or told us to park in any other location, there would have been no issue. [Member Name Removed} blamed me for the new potential owners not going through with the sale. Larry's lawyer told me the holdup had nothing to do with me, Square Deal or even the yard for that matter. I spoke to the buyer to give him my insurance info incase of any issues on this matter, and he was unaware of any problems until I told him about it. It seems there were some fabrications:("
"First there is no such thing as a 20' POD. "PODS" have cubes, 12', and 16's. If they really moved in with 2 actual PODS I would have fit that in my truck with room to spare without breaking a sweat. Just Google the cubic capacities of both, it's easy math. Second, I would never work for these people again. Third, I have never demanded instrument specific (cash) payment. Fourth I anticipated they might not be able to take some of the items themselves, and even brought a 16" trailer, in addition to truck Fifth, we continued AND FINISHED into late hours, at their insistence and demand and still we are vilified"
"Yes, it's true, he ordered 2 men for two hours and insisted to Dayna over the phone that it would take no more, and as soon as I got there I did a soft count and used a laser measure and advised him immediately, that there was no way the job could be completed with 2 men in snow and ice in winter, with an 83 foot long carry, and stairs, and well over 100 items in less than 2 hours. And he had no concern for my time or the next customer who was waiting for us. P.S. the destination also had stairs and we could not get the truck within 75 feet of the common entry door to the building, let alone his son's apt door. And I don't why it says Ogdensburg, because I think Ogdensburg might be about the only place we haven't been as of recently. And there's no hidden charge, ever. Our rates are filed and published with The State and NYS tariff Bureau and charged in strict accordance with the law. We don't make those rules, we simply abide by them. He simply refused to pay us for our time, period, He cheated us, end of story. A contractor I think he vaguely identified himself as."
They came with straps and wrapping materials.
One problem, they don't have a truck so that's not included here in cost. The truck we got had a lift gate and no ramp, a lift gate is super slow, don't get a truck with only a lift gate.
The first day was very unorganized with no leadership. The owner showed up once in awhile to check, he was mostly on the phone.
The second day I had to tell them that it has to be finished by the end of the day. This was not my job I don't feel, we as a whole were fairly unhappy with them. (Happy to finally be moved)
We've used other movers in the past, as a reference I'd say there's pretty big differences in movers. The guys we wanted could have done this in one day.
They did end up doing some damage to newly refinished hardwood floors which we weren't happy about.
They didn't offer anything for damages.
"This review came as a bit of a surprise. We were unaware they were unhappy in any way. Had the shipper told us we scuffed their floor, we would have repaired it on the spot or referred them to our insurance company as we have a million dollar General Liability Certificate. In 6 years, this has happened once before, and that shipper was justly compensated by our insurance company. Second we do have our own truck, and it is Commercially insured and covers any commercial Motor Vehicle we drive as is required by law in order to be a licensed Carrier in NYS. This includes leased vehicles. Finally I should mention that the end of August is every movers busiest time of year and it is a very chaotic time. Our license permits us to perform more than one job at a time and the owner (Jeff) personally performs, or is at some point present, throughout nearly every single move. In the end we want every customer to be happy and had we known there was any dissatisfaction, we would would have accommodated them accordingly. We are dissatisfied that they had any dissatisfaction of any kind."
There was a mix up on start time but after a call to Jeff he and his crew was there and ready to roll. The crew was young but I must say they were the best bunch of young men I've seen. Very disciplined to everything that Jeff (the owner) had to say.
This was a whole house move 3 stories of furniture plus a full garage. It was non-stop except for time out for lunch which was not included in the charges. There were a couple of dents but nothing worth mentioning here. It took 2 trips (5 miles one way) a total of 13 hours. Jeff and his crew left about 12:15 am
Jeff figured our cost based on 4 men not 5 due to the mix up on the start time which was pretty great thing to do.
All I can say is this is one great moving company and the people who run it are wonderful.
I highly recommend them.
I contacted Square Deal Moving on 4/28/15. I spoke with Dayna. I told her that my son and daughter-in-law were moving from Camillus to Fairmount at the end of April (did not have an exact date at that time). I told her that there were about 10 pieces of furniture, and several boxes and bags to be moved.
Dayna advised me that the rate is $140.00/hr, and she thought that the move might be accomplished in about 3 hrs. She also advised me that there would be 3 movers for the job. She also stated that because my son is a Vetran, a military discount would be offered.
When the moving date was confirmed, my son contacted Dayna with the date (4/28/15). He was then contacted by Square
Deal Moving (Jeff). They discussed the items to be moved, and the expected arrival time on 4/28/15.
The movers did arrive at the appointed time(10:00am) They brought a 16ft Penske Truck, which they felt would be adequate for the move. IT WAS NOT!. The furniture was wrapped and loaded correctly, but the truck was clearly not large enough for all the contents. So...., a second trip from Camillus to Fairmount was necessary.
At the completion of the move, (6hrs) I was presented a bill for $840.00. Needless to say, I was shocked at the amount. I was charged for 2 roundtrip moves, and travel time as well. The military discount that was offered; I was charged for 2 movers, instead of 3! It should be noted, that both my son and I worked along side the movers, the entire day. Therefore, we had 5 movers, 2 of whom were not paid!!
My husband contacted Square Deal moving the next day, and spoke to Dayna. He discussed the bill with her, and told her that we were very unhappy with the amount. She advised my husband that she would contact the movers and someone would get back to us within 24 hrs.
On 4/30/15,Jeff, the supervisor of the move, contacted my husband and discussed the bill with him. He was unwilling to adjust the bill in any way.
We will never use this company again, nor will we ever recommend them to anyone else!
"Well, it seems no good deed goes unpunished . The people we moved were the grown children of the Angie's List members who hired and paid us. The grown children's home lacked proper plumbing and sanitation (this was one of the reasons they were moving out. Also, they reported this as a 2 bedroom home, but when we arrived it was clearly a 4 bedroom. No maybe or grey area about it. It was literally a detached, single family, 4 bedroom house in a barely accessible back yard, (the home was down a narrow driveway in the backyard of the main house). Barely accessible because my 26' truck has a clearance of 13'1". The power line was just barely over 11 feet. 11 feet may be legal on private property, but in general utility lines are recommended to be between 14 and 18 feet from the ground. This is a common risk that all professional movers encounter, deal with and manage daily without incident. Our experience and skill saved the home, it saved the power lines, it saved risk of injury. It was our basic due diligence. We owed them no less. And despite the poor sanitation we endured, we completed the job. Despite that they asked us to move a fecal matter covered dining chair, a chair which had a broken leg. THEY WANTED TO SAVE IT. Their sofa had to be hoisted from a side deck because the stairway was too narrow (way less than 61" tread to header). 61" being the modern building standard, and the interior thresh-hold was less than 32" and was immediately obstructed upon entry with less than a 96" ceiling. The general order of the home reminded me of a TV show I've seen on A&E but I forget the name.. I've tried my best here to simply respond with facts and subdue my passions and opinions. By definition facts are statements that can be proven or dis-proven. Most of the facts I've shared here are provable with basic elementary school math and common sense observation."
"It's always a pleasure to work for people like [member name removed]. I wish all my customers were like her."
