Pat and his small crew did a great job and was fast. They went overboard to get the small things done that were not called for. The went above and beyond. We are very thankful.

I hadn't been inside my father's townhouse in 22 years. He lived in Clay, New York, I live in Ohio and he always came to our house for visits. I never really questioned why he never invited us to his home until he passed away suddenly in April 2013. Before we left Ohio to handle the funeral arrangements it was decided that we would stay at my father's house instead of a hotel so we could go through his papers and find information regarding his estate.
When we arrived at his house, we quickly discovered that it would be impossible, and even unhealthy, to stay there. The floors were covered with garbage, boxes and filth. It appeared nothing had been cleaned in many years. Everything imaginable was damaged or so dirty that it had to be replaced so we knew we'd have to renovate the entire place from the ground up. This included damaged, water-stained walls, every bit of flooring, two toilets, two vanities, a tub, bathroom tile removal, damage to the garage drywall, all ceilings, tree and shrub removal, removing a deck, regrading the yard, and kitchen counters, We also knew that we'd have to find someone who would be trustworthy enough to work with from 6 hours away and on a tight budget. We just wouldn't be able to drive by and check up on the work.
We scoured almost every name on Angie's List and called them. We met three contractors face to face for estimates with varying degrees of success. All were higher than we could justify spending, two were very slow responding to phone calls or emails (one took ten days getting us an estimate), At our wits end, we called Pat Burdick with less than high hopes. Our schedules wouldn't allow us to meet in person, but he agreed to have the neighbor let him in so he could do the estimate. My husband indicated that it would be foolish to hire someone we hadn't met face-to-face, but we were running out of options. When we hired him we gave him free reign to do things however he wanted as long as we didn't have cost overruns.
Pat Burdick knows the time and cost involved almost immediately. He understands having to work within a budget and a specific time frame. He charged 20% less than anyone else, but did 20% more. He did many extra things that weren't included in our agreement - he built up a counter between the kitchen and living room to be an eating area and installed lights overhead, he replaced all the light fixtures, he replaced a shredded window screen, covered the entire first floor with wood laminate (we had planned for inexpensive carpeting), he sent pictures of the work in progress so we could see the improvements as they were happening, and he ALWAYS answered his phone or called right back. He was knowledgeable, upbeat and pleasant too. When I offered him more time to finish the project he insisted that he would have it done on the agreed day.
I am posting pictures of the and quot;before and afterand quot; to show you the amazing job Pat Burdick did. It is nothing less than stunning. It looked so good we were able to raise our selling price by several thousand dollars more than we expected.
Pat Burdick has a strong work-ethic, integrity and understands the meaning of keeping his word.

Pat was punctual at first. He put down a laminate flooring in a rental unit. There were metal strips between the rooms and doorways which really stand out against the dark wood. It looks chopped up and a bit cheap if you ask me. I called him back to finish the bathroom in that apt he started (we were waiting for a part). He took a long time to come. He (conveniently?) said he tried to get a hold of my tenant many times to make an appointments by leaving messages, she insisted he never did. He replaced some rotted wood, the sink and toilet and the linoleum floor. There were many problems with the flooring. First he ok'd me buying a floor that was on sale. I paid $125 for it .Then he said he couldn't use it, so I lost that money (he never offered to help me out for his mistake). Since it had been so long since he and his helper had first come, he said the linoleum had bought and left had disappeared, and he had insinuated that we took it. My tenant of 7 years is very meticulous and was anxiously awaiting the finish of the job. There is no way she accidentally got rid of a big piece of linoleum or stole it. By the way, his helper had also been in the house without him, looking at a plumbing job while he was out of town? He rebought a third floor. He said I didn't pay for the floor, he did, and he was only charging me for half of that material, therefore would keep the other half for himself . I asked him to mail me a copy of the receipt he charged on my Home Depot account and would settle up then. He became verbally aggressive on the phone - yelling and raising his voice for me to send him his money. He sent a very fuzzy picture of a Home Depot receipt to my cell phone, which I couldn't read. After more aggressive calls I repeated I would finish paying when I got a receipt. He eventually sent the copy and sure enough I was right. As it turned I had paid for the entire floor (again), which I needed for an identical apartment, and he was trying to keep that material for himself. He dropped off my floor and picked up his check. In general, he was very unprofessional, did only so-so job, was rude to me and my tenants, and his final exact words were and quot; You can lose my numberand quot;. How professional is that? I had already, however, deleted his number and will never recommend him to anyone.

I asked estimates in LOWES, HOME DEPOT, Carpet Flooring, local handymen, local builders and more. Their average estimate was $10,800 for all the work. Pat completed all the work in one WEEK, no waste, no cheap looking materials, no dust or mess and more importantly to my specifications and standards.Pat fixed just about everything that needed to be fixed and did it right and honestly. It is difficult to find people now days with the honesty and work ethic that Pat has, I would hire him again in a hear beat.Thank you Pat.
