To be fair, I think they have had a change in management since this experience.
However, at the time, it was Horrible.
The gave us one estimate for $1,000. Came in, did the job, then called up and said we'd need to pay an additional $1,000 to improve the ventilation. This was never mentioned in the original estimate. And a workman on site specifically told me we would not need to improve the ventilation. Gangsters!
Management warned us that we would fail an inspection. We told him we thought we would be OK. Then the warning turned into a threat. One day, he calls us up and says he's got an inspector on site ready to fail us!
The owner of our business capitulated at that point. We sent in a check for half ($500) of the additional work. The contractor called off the inspector and promised to finish the job. This was over half a year ago. Now every time we call them, they give us the run around a refuse to schedule the work. One time they agreed to come on a holiday (Labor Day), then called that morning and cancelled.
These guys were just the absolute worst.

He actually created a dangerous where carbon monoxide leaked through my house. The court ruled in my favor and he was revoked to do any work in my village. He was to do an oil gas heating conversion and a chimney wiener. He did not communicate well and he argumentative and yelled at my wife several times. He did not work to the building code and left my house in a dangerous condition to the point where the fire department and the utility company had to come out to inspect for a gas leak and carbon monoxide. He is a disgrace. I would not recommend them to anybody.

I was very pleased with J P Joyce Plumbing and Heating.  They are very knowledgeable and professional and very neat in completing the gas conversion in our home.  My only problem was that the work had to be postponed because of a very bad snow storm, but I guess that was beyond their control.  They definitely know what they are doing, and I would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to other people.

Absolutely awful...atotal  nightmare! You will be sorry if you use these people.  They did not come at the time they had scheduled...they said a previous job ran late so they came at 12 instead of 8 AM, which was a huge inconvenience because I had to reschedule my home inspection.
They made a big mess which they didn't clean up...dirt and soot all up and down my basement stairs as well as acrioss my living room...sharp pieces of metal left laying on my lawn...they must have dumped a box of screws in the basement, and there were screws all over the floor.
They had to cut up my old oil tank, and they spilled oil all over the basement floor, which they didn't clean up. They were supposed to call an environmental company to remove the oil, but they filled plastic containers and loaded it onto a truck.
They used a foil clothes dryer exhaust hose instead of the proper aluminum kind for the out-take. When I questioned one of the work
ers about it, he said Home Depot was closed, so they couldn't get the right one, but they would return the next day and install it. They never returned. I called the office numerous times, and the owner was never there (supposedly). He never returned any of my calls. I finally resorted to calling National Grid (unbelievably they were on their list), and a woman from there tried to mediate the whole thing. I finally got another exhaust duct put in. Finally, after the intervention by National Grid, I received a nasty phone call from the owner.
Later on, another company came to install a chimney liner, and told me that another piece of ductwork JP Joyce had installed was supposed to be used for a clothes dryer. They also said that there were piles of broken ceramic in the chimney, which would have created toxic fumes, because the air flow was being blocked. The reason I called the chimney company was because an odd smell was coming from the heating vents. They said JP Joyce should have installed a chimney liner.
I made a report to Better Business Bureau.
Avoid this company like the plague!!

We dealt primarily with Mike Young, who assured us the work would be able to be done in Nov.  It was done in mid-Dec. and it did not go very smoothly.  We immediately had a few problems and although he would not return phone calls or emails, a service person from another company did come several times.  We heard that during this time, the company was undergoing some major changes.  We had to wait for a month for our final inspection, then the day before, I got a call that Joyce was canceling it, because there was no one from Joyce to be here.  I insisted that the inspection take place, and of course, we did not pass.  I have contacted my credit card company to dispute the charges (Vivian insisted that the final payment be made before the work was even finished).  Mike Young is still not returning my phone calls or responding to my emails. | |I strongly advise people NOT to use this company.

This was the worst company I have ever dealt with. The day after my installation was "complete" I didn't have any hot water. (It was August so thankfully I didn't need the heat.)  Apparently the workers put the new Gas Unit in my house but failed to hook up the heat and hot water. The workers also found an existing gas leak in my house but when I offered them money to fix it they failed to come back. A new crew of workers was sent out the following day and they hooked up the heat and hot water. When they checked the area of the gas leak they told me I didn't have one. JP Joyce was in charge of setting up a time for the village inspector to come and review the work. This is supposed to be done within two weeks of completion. The inspection was not done until a month and half later and at that time they said I actually did have a gas leak and fixed it. In October I began using the heat on cold nights. Each night the heat would shut off and would not turn back on until I manually played with the on off switch. I called JP Joyce and they sent out a worker who said the thermostat was broken and replaced it with a new one. After a few hours I smelled burning plastic and the thermostat was very hot. I shut off the heat and hired a separate plumber to come and take a look at the problem. He told me that they hooked up a 24 volt thermostat to a 110 volt electrical line. I am fortunate that my house did not catch fire. When we called and complained the owner Paul told us he didn't feel the least bit bad and that he had plenty of other business. It is now November and I am still trying to recover a $90 charge that they billed me twice for. Overall they are rude and incompetent. They left me with a gas leak and almost started a fire. Save yourself the aggravation and stay away from this company.

Very well, they came, installed the new gas burner, dealt with the old oil tank.  Two weeks later there was an issue, and they came right out next day.  it turned out LIPA/National Grid, hadn't adjusted hte gas pressure correctly.
After that, all has been well.-

--Update,
During the winter the gas heating began acting up, it would just shut off.  We could get it back on my cycling power.  We called to make an appointment but had to leave a voicemail.  In the next few days, a Polar Vortex struck and unfortunately the system cut out over the weekend, and we couldn't get the heating back up and running.  JP Joyce wouldn't return my calls, a pipe froze, we had to call another more local plumber and move into a hotel.  The local plumber installed a US Boiler, gas fired boiler and fixed the broken pipe for $7500.  He said the EZ Gas, burner JP Joyce used to convert the oil-fired boiler to a gas fired one, was not a good one, and it would have been better to replace the whole boiler to a gas-fired boiler.

Here's the EZgas burner, stay away from this...

They never showed up.  They never called back. The original appointment was scheduled via Debra Muse 781-907-2218 at National
Grid. She can confirm the above.  Oh, and by the way.. we were also home when the original appointment was scheduled so they can't turn around and say they were here then either.

It was a comedy of errors, from the time that we called them.  They were supposed to come and do the job on 11/8, but they called to say that the gas furnace they had ordered was sent to Massachusetts, and they had no idea when it would come, so the job was postponed a week.  We had a quarter of a tank left of oil for our heat. Because they postponed it, we had to get an emergency delivery of oil.  We found someone who would do just 50 gallons, and had that brought in. We'd already called our normal oil delivery company to cancel our routine deliveries and they canceled our contract.  Otherwise we wouldn't have had to pay someone for the emergency service.

JP Joyce Plumbing came a week later. They did the conversion, installing a new furnace and doing the gas hook-up. The guy who did the gas hookup had free reign of the basement, and after he left, we noticed that CDs and DVDs were missing and the batteries had been stolen out of the remote down there!   After the installation, though, everything seemed to go okay for the next few days.  We were out of town for Thanksgiving, but my son came to the house. My son smelled natural gas and called us right away.  The whole house was just filled with the smell of natural gas!  They opened up the windows and doors to air it out, and shut off the gas right away.  I called the plumber right away, but he never answered.  I explained, via voicemail, the situation as an emergency.  He did come to the house, apparently, but never bothered to call me back (this is what we had run into the entire time).  Because of an error with their initial installation, this dangerous leak was caused.   I would not recommend this company to anyone!

Requested estimate for plumbing and heating projects. The person who came to evaluate the projects seemed professional and knowledgeable.  In the end I have asked for three estimates - rough plumbing for bathroom, forced air(AC and heating), or hydronic heating (was trying to decide between the two). I was told that estimates will be done early in the week. Two weeks later there still was no estimates. I called the company. They were surprised that I have not received the estimates and promised to e-mail them.  Indeed, the estimates were e-mailed the same day, but only for forced air (heating/AC). I called the company back, explaining that I also requested estimate for hydronic heating and for rough plumbing.  They told that they will mail them to me. Few days later I have received mail with estimates however, they were the same estimates that they have already e-mailed me ( forced air heating/ac) - plumbing and hydronic system missing. I decided not to bother with them anymore - three weeks and two phone call should have been enough.

Our house has no crawl space or basement, so the heating installation was challenging. We had several companies estimate and their price was best and their solutions were the most practical and inventive.

We liked them so much that we used them for our air conditioning installation. They are punctual, personable, knowledgeable and flexible and I would highly recommend them.
