It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It went well. The vent was not clogged at that time but it needed to be cleaned.

They were very good and they did a good job.  They were efficient, they came on time and they showed me what they were doing.  They're a reputable company and they worked very hard to open that up.  They did an excellent job and I highly recommend them.  They responded up right away and they gave me no problem setting up an appointment and getting it done.  He stayed right on the job and he worked with me all the way through.  The pricing is good and the quality is excellent.

When they pointed out that there was some large area that was inappropriately built for the exhaust of flues. I asked them to redo the work and they did. They did it in an amazing speed and it was a very complicated to do . The showed me also part of the lining was so apart, i examined it and it was a true.

That went fine.  Two people came to clean my chimney and they'd finished the work about an hour and a half.  I thought eighty dollars were pretty high but they were pretty good.  They were professional.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I didn't think that much of it. The people had to come from a long way. They weren't local. I didn't get to see what they were doing. It was supposed to be one of these things where they use modern technology using a camera to show you but I didn't get to see that. I didn't think too much of that and I won't do that again. I'll just find my own chimney sweep and then watch everything they did. There were no extra charges. I'm used to getting better. It's not that they didn't do anything but it did not meet my standards. The price was fine but you get what you pay for. I didn't think I got good value.

They were in quite a hurry. They ran the chimney sweep up and down once or twice, swept out the ashes and left.

The experience went okay overall.
They removed my chimney cap and told me I should replace it.
They had a slightly damaged cap in their van which they offered to sell me for the same price as a new one (I checked chimney cap prices online at homedepot.com) - I declined their offer.
The whole process took about 15-20 minutes.

I was disappointed becauuse they did not call me back with information on what they found. I could have hired anyone to clean my chimney for around the same price. I hired them because I was supposed to get feedback from them and that never happened. There was no response to my followup call either.

Chimney Doctors of New York Corp. did the work in a professional manner and cleaned up after themselves. They didn't tell me that my chimney cap was gone.

The main worker was extremely talkative, erratic, did not properly access what he needed for the installation of the liner.  I had to take his assistant to get extra parts.  They borrowed someone's van, were running way late doing my job and were constantly on the phone with the person who needed his van back.  Very unprofessional.  Bad experience.

They came in and recommended a liner for the chimney, which was $1400. So when they put the liner in - once we closed up the walls we ran the fireplace and smoke started pouring out of the living room. I called them back and they came to look at it and he said wait until you've finished up the walls and everything - it may be drafting weird. So we finished the walls. Then it was worse. I called him and he said open a window. And I said I'm not going to open a window when I need a fire, you need to come and fix this. He had somebody come over and this guy said it was a heatilator, you don't put a liner in a heatilator, who did this? And I said you guys did. So basically they destroyed the brickwork on my house that I wanted to leave but I had to cover it with sheet rock, because they replaced the red brick with yellow brick. Now they had to come and pull out the cap on top of the fire box, the chimney liner - they took my flue out so I was wide open to the outside, I couldn't close it. They came back and removed the entire liner, put in a new damper, put on a new cap and he said I owed him all this money. So I said what I want you to do, is now that my fireplace is exactly how it was when you came to clean it, I want the money back because I'm not paying for you to put it in and take it out. This was all because of inexperience. If you have unknowledgeable employees, don't put them out together. Put them with somebody who knows what they are doing. The responsiveness of getting back to me, is ridiculous - they don't answer by phone. I called the company and they said here is his e-mail. I don't want to discuss things by e-mail with somebody, I want to talk to you on the phone. Now after a year and a half I am waiting on $1400. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody.

They seemed a little disorganized. It was not the guys doing the work, but the office. They were a little difficult to get back to me. They cleaned up when they were done. I asked them for some additional information and they never got back to me. It was a special so, the price was good. I would not use them again because of geographical location.

They were clean, professional and showed up on time. They didn't try to sell me anything. I would definitely use them again. I'm sure there are cheaper but I don't necessarily want the cheapest.

The men were prompt, professional, courteous. They did the work that was contracted and made no attempt to upsell or diagnose "new" problems. I was expecting some discomfort, but was pleasantly surprised I had none of it. The men were here to to the job and that was that. I tipped them for excellent work.

, stating they were available, if we were going to be home.  I said that was fine, and they indicated they would be there in about 30 minutes.  They showed up 90 minutes later, and completed the job in about 15 minutes.  I have no idea how good the job was, since I was not about to stick my head in the chimney to inspect their work. However, based on the experience with the appointments, whether they did a good job or not, I would never call this company again.

The workmen were prompt and neat. They also took a video of my chimney as part of the deal but could not discuss the results. I assume they were not permitted to do so. I was very satisfied with the cleaning. Not so much with the inspection.
