I can't complain at all about the price. In retrospect I might have been better off spending more money and using someone else. This work was done in conjunction with a pretty extensive renovation on a house that I had just purchased. Instead of hiring one contractor to handle all of the work, I essentially acted as my own general contractor and subbed everything out. I received an estimate from Timber Wood's representative, Hus, about halfway through the renovation. Among other things, we still had to replace some drywall, replace metal door frames, replace closet doors, replace baseboard radiators, paint, etc. Hus gave me a very good estimate provided that I let him begin the deep sanding process that weekend. He said he would put down one coat of poly. Then when all the other work was completed he would screen off the poly and apply new poly so it would look perfect. I was skeptical of this from the beginning, and I wish that I had trusted my instincts. I explained to Hus that we had quite a bit of work that still needed to be completed. He told me not to worry about it, that it would look perfect. Ultimately, I decided to go forward with it. After the initial work was done the floor looked beautiful. Of course over the next several weeks that beautiful floor proceeded to get damaged in a multitude of ways. Removing the metal door frames in particular caused a lot of scratching and exposed a lot of unstained wood. The painters also got quite a bit of paint on the floor. I started to think we would be better off starting the floors from scratch, but when I spoke to Hus again he told me not to worry about it. Finally the day comes for Hus to finish the floors. I pointed out all of the damage to him. Paint is here, scratches there. New wood over there that needs to be stained. A couple of gouges that needed to be feathered out from the last time when he did the deep sanding. Etc. He assures me he will take care of all of it. The next day I come and look at the floor, and there are still spots of paint here and there. Scratches from the contractors. Two new wood planks that I had put down which he said he would sand and stain remained unfinished except for the poly. The gouges that he was supposed to feather out - well he did that, but the new stain he applied didn't match the old stain. I will say this for Hus - he did what he could to rectify things. There were certainly no bad intentions here. He is a nice guy and a reputable guy. He came over twice to try and fix the two big spots of mismatched floor color, and ultimately did a reasonable job of getting it right. Still, the floor did not come out as it should have, and we are disapointed with it. One other thing - he suggested a form of poly called 'moisture cure' which he said only needs one coat and is stronger than water or oil based poly. That was also a mistake, as it scratches extremely easily.
Description of Work: Refinished about 1200 square feet of hardwood flooring.
