I had called another company and could not get an appointment for six days. They wanted $120.00 to look at the dryer and another $60.00 to look at the washer, plus parts. I called Doug?s Appliance and was told they could have someone there between 2:00pm and 4:00pm, the same day . They were willing to call me at work 15 minutes before showing up. At around 12:30pm I got a call saying that if I wanted, they could be there in 15 minutes or I could stay with the 2-4pm window. I went for the earlier appointment. They were there within 15 minutes.
Earlier I had checked the web and found the 41% of the time the problem would be the door switch. They first checked the obvious, did the unit have power. Did the door switch appear to be working? Then using a multi-meter they determined that the start switch was bad. This was not immediate because the wiring diagram for the washer did not match the way it was actually wired. They replaced the start switch and tested the dryer starting.
They then opened the front panel of the washer and you could see that the bleach hose had become detached. They reattached the bleach hose with glue and a zip tie.
Both machines were fixed within 30 minutes and they only charged $125.49 total.
When you are given a window always ask if they can call before showing up. This repair was basically done during my lunch break. I didn?t have to take any time off from work.

Overall, the technician was efficient and courteous and seemed knowledgable regarding various refrigerator brands and their failure and repair rates. He did not try to sell me anything. Only disappointment  is having to replace a 6 year old unit, but that has nothing to do with Doug's Appliance, rather GE which currently has an abysmal failure rate on refrigerators!

I called Doug's Appliance Repair and they came out 2 days after my call. I didn't ask for an emergency call. The repairman was prompt, professional, and got right to the problem. He diagnosed it within the first 5 minutes. I had a blockage in one of the defrosting tubes and it was causing ice to build up underneath and water to drip in the back of the fridge. He explained it well and told me that he could unblock the tube but it might not prevent it from happening again and said there was a part sold by the manufacturer to avoid this problem. He gave me an estimate of between $175-200. My refrigerator is about 8 years old so I opted to get the extra part. Within an hour he had taken the fridge apart, took all of the ice out and defrosted it, installed the new part, and after the work was done, explained what I could expect, how long it would be before the fridge was cold again, etc. The work was precise and he was in and out in an hour.

He was punctual, he fixed it and seemed to do what he needed to do. I just thought it was too expensive for the amount of work he did. He came the first day and spent 10-15 minutes and then came back the next day with the part and spent about the same amount of time, the part wasn't that expensive.

I was surprised that they were able to do the work so fast. He asked what model my refrigerator was and had the new ice maker with him when he came out. He was honest and hard working. He did a great job.

The serviceman was a nice man and explained what the problem was and what it would cost before he did the work. The dryer works like new again and I was pleased with this experience. I would recommend his services.

I ORIGINALLY CALLED HIM FOR THE WASHER, BUT HE TOLD ME IT NEEDED A PLUMBER TO UNCLOG THE DRAIN, THEN HE HOOKED UP THE GAS DRYER. HE DID A GOOD JOB AND WAS HONEST.

THE WASHING MACHINE WAS LEAKING AND I HAVE THE LEAST CLUE AS TO WHY. THIS COMPANY KNEW THE PROBLEM RIGHT AWAY AND HOW TO SOLVE IT. MY WASHER HAS NOT LEAKED ANY MORE SINCE.
