My dog just recently had his TPLO repaired and honestly the whole process was agonizing beginning to end. The surgical coordinator even though her message says she will get back to you by the end of business she never does. I tried several times leaving several messages and finally had to have my regular vet call again so I could get a call back. I will say the surgery seems to have gone great my boy is getting around well. Today was his first follow up, the office staff have been calling the wrong number all week for reminders and my husband is often not able to answer his phone while working, it's in their system to call me first. So because they didn't do that I called this morning to double check his appointment time and was told 330 I even commented that didn't sound right but was assured it was. On my way to his appointment at 310 I get called asking if I'm still coming for his appointment. I tell them I am 2 minutes away but that I had called this morning and was told 330, the girl said no it was at 3 you're late. Ok I'm sorry I'll be right there but I really did call this morning. We pull in I call to check in and I am again told I am late and asked to hold on, she's must have been told to check me in anyway cause she gets back in the phone and says a tech will call me to finish the check in. 20 minutes late my phone rings I'm told I'm late again, I explain what happened yet again and told ok the doctor is worth his 330 appointment they will call me when they are ready to take him in. Almost an hour later still nothing so I call to see how much longer, and again I'm told I'm late........I ask for an office manager as they say all calls are recorded and I'd like this call pulled as everyone keeps talking down to me. Guess what they aren't there either lol. I will not be returning and will have his follow up done with my regular vet. Surgeon was great, HORRIBLE office staff that takes no responsibility for their errors

After an agonizing Thanksgiving day, watching my 13 year old Brussels Griffon deteriorate I ended up there to get an exam and evaluation of her condition. She was at our regular Vet the day before and seemed to be improving from a bout of pancreatitis, but they were closed for the holiday and we had no choice but the Emergency Vet. The staff was compassionate and caring to not only my dog but to us. The Vet on duty was honest about her prognosis and helped us to realize the best option for her. She did not push for very expensive treatment which would have been both unsuccessful and torture for a very sick elderly dog. In the end she passed quickly and painlessly. I am grateful for the time they spent with us and the genuine compassion they have for the animals and their humans. They made an impossible painful situation bearable for all of us.

Dr. Sedacca was Little Man's (my cat's) doctor and he was excellent. I had complete confidence in his knowledge of the disease and felt he gave the best treatment. He was direct with the prognosis, but very compassionate and his love of animals was evident.
I contacted Dr. Sedacca on January 14th, because Little Man's condition had changed. He recommended I bring Little Man in to the emergency side of the clinic. In my heart I knew I would not be taking him back home. The front line staff and the technicians have always been wonderful and that day was no different. When I agreed to put Little Man to "sleep" everyone was so compassionate and patient. My son was devastated and wanted to see Little Man. They provided time for him to spend with Little Man and did not rush him through the visit.
I highly recommend Upstate Veterinary Specialties. I hope my other cat will never need their services, but if she did, I wouldn't hesitate to take her there.

My dog developed diabetes last winter. He was started on insulin but went blind from the diabetes. Brought him to Upstate to see the opthomologist Dr. Corbett. She was able to restore his vision in one eye! My dog also had severe allergy problems. Brought him to see Dr. Tranchina who was able to come up with a treatment plan that has kept his allergies at bay. Have just started using Dr. Hyink the Interinst to help control his diabetes better. The staff is always so friendly and helpful.

Dr. Bishop and office staff were wonderful. They knew me by name, they all knew my dogs name. Dr. Bishop always returned my calls promptly and was very kind. In the end, when there was nothing else I could do for her, Dr Bishop called me at home at 8 pm to express his condolences. A class act!

We have used them for many years. They have multiple vets specialties there. They have a neurosurgeon, two heart doctors, they are looking for a heart surgeon. If you want high end medical care, you are going to want to go there. I was there four months ago. The experience was wonderful. I love going there. They have all kinds of specialists. I would give them top marks across the board. We have four dogs at present. They are all rescue dogs.

Everyone told me that my dog's ruptured achilles would be a long process to overcome. But, dealing with upstate, and their professional and knowledgeable staff made this so much more tolerable. From the doctors (Dr. Sam Franklin and colleagues), to the physical therapist, to the assistants, to the administrative staff....everyone was friendly, compassionate, and professional.
We were at Upstate approximately every other day for over a month, and then weekly for another month or so. We never had to wait for our appointment more than 5 or 10 minutes, and I had no qualms about leaving Bailey overnight when we needed to. I was confident that she would be looked after well.

My dog had an intestinal blockage and needed surgery. After an ultrasound was performed I elected to have surgery performed. Her colon was resected due to an invasive mass. She had 24/7 care while at this facility and I was updated on her condition twice daily. Everything went well and she is recovering nicely. The staff was very professional and caring. They even took pictures of her on their phone to show me how she was ready to play the next day. I definately would use this facility again.

As always, the Veterinarian, his assistant, and office staff were excellent in every aspect of their jobs.
Blood was taken quickly. The new symptoms were discussed, and a urine sample was taken.
Test results were called back to me (the next day) by the Vet himself.
A medication was jointly agreed upon.

Dr. Wey did a really good job with my cat. He was very kind and compassionate with my pet. I'm just not sure if I can get cheaper services.
