ESTEP BUILDING & RESTORATIONS

We are very unhappy with the service provided by this company. The owner, Dan Estep, failed to manage the job well. He failed to inform his carpenters of the specifications of this small addition on the back of our garage. We had to constantly have them redo their work to meet the specifications agreed upon in the contract. The floor of the addition to the garage was to be flush with the garage floor. Although the garage floor cupped down in the center, the contractor should have approached us and given us the options available. Instead, his carpenters just arbitrarily raised the floor on the addition well above the garage floor. We thought the choice should have been ours - if it costs more money to get it right, then we should be the ones to opt for that choice if we wanted to. Mr. Estep failed to properly coordinate the timing of the delivery of materials, resulting in the storage of 2 yards of crushed stone on plywood for 3 weeks on our lawn which created a large dead spot on the lawn. His carpenters tore off the shingles on our roof, moments before a torrential downpour, drowning our belongings in the loft of our garage, without first checking the weather forecast. They had to use our tarps to cover the roof and in the process ruined all of them by nailing throughout the field of each tarp. Mr. Estep attempted to arbitrarily change the specifications of the contract without informing us of the same. He attempted to place upon us responsibilities that were clearly specified in the contract as his and not ours. The carpenters on the job were unable to visually line up the new vinyl siding at the corner of the building. Finally, his carpenters failed to properly vent the roof of the new addition, which, had it not been discovered by us, would have resulted in very serious consequences shingle failure, moisture buildup, and diminished effectiveness of insulation.

ONCE THEY STARTED WORKING, THEY WOULD LEAVE WORK FOR TWO WEEKS AND THEN COME BACK WHENEVER. THINGS DISAPPEARED. THEY WANT MORE MONEY AND THEN DON'T COME BACK FOR A WHILE. THEY LEFT US WITHOUT A KITCHEN FOR TWO MONTHS. THEY WERE CARELESS. THE SERVICE WAS POOR. THEY LEFT STUFF UNDONE AND WOULDN'T COME BACK TO FIX IT. THEY OVERPRICED THE PROJECT BY $20,000. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE.
