I have worked with Debra for several months now, starting when I was completely overwhelmed with selecting countertops and backsplash for my new kitchen, and more recently on a completely renovated bathroom. From the beginning, Debra helped me crystalize my vision for the kitchen and bathroom renovations and then kept me focused on selecting materials and designs that supported that vision. Debra is the consummate professional in every way. She is incredibly responsive and has the ability to quickly assess what is needed and provide support in finding the right fixtures, colors and materials. Debra is sensitive to my personal tastes but she is honest about what she believes will work and what won't. She has a beautiful aesthetic and wonderful ideas, which she keeps aligned with my budget. Debra is also a pleasure to work with; she is a lovely person who is always willing to help, no matter how small the detail or question. I look forward to continuing partnering with Debra to finish my bathroom and hope to work with her on future projects.
I recently bought a new place and every single inch needed paint, as it had not been touched in 25 years. Debra came over and assessed the project, the light, our lifestyle--and me. Over the course of several visits she developed a complete plan for the painters that left me happy and confident that my new home would turn into what I hoped it would be,
She dealt so professionally with the challenges thrown at her--an indecisive client, an open plan space, a serious lack of natural light, and unusual ceiling angles. She has the ability to understand the look you're after even when it's just a vague idea in your head. She then translates your ideas into a concrete action plan.
People often see a room color in a magazine or on a website and think that by specifying that particular paint hue, they'll get the result they saw and admired. Nothing is further from the truth! In order to get the result you're after, you need someone like Debra who knows how to translate what you see in a photograph into the actual paint color you need to specify for your own walls. Debra is also adept at taking your emotional temperature--will you really be happy with that trendy gray you so admire on Houzz?
Debra's deft hand allowed me to confidently specify not only color but finish, an important part of achieving an overall look. Toward the end, I was under time pressure, but Debra rose to the occasion and met all our deadlines.
The paint is going up on 3500 square feet as I write, and each space being painted feels like a little gift of light and color. The drop cloths are still down but I already see my house coming to life, just as I imagined it, thanks to Debra's trained eye.
"Thank you so much for the lovely review, [Member name removed]. Working with you was my pleasure ("color emergencies" happen more often than you think!), and I am looking forward to seeing the final results-- The greatest reward for me is that you and your family live a happy life in your "new" home!"
Debra clearly has a vast and deep understanding of how light and context affects the color we ultimately see. My husband and I wanted to paint our mid-century modern house in white, which would seem simple enough. As we found out, however, every ?white? has hints of another color (slightly blue, beige, pink, green, etc).
Debra helped us find the ?white? which would actually look like white given how our trees would affect the light on our exterior.
As for interior color, we had very particular ideas about which colors we wanted to use. Yet again, Debra helped us to chose paint color that would look the way that we wanted.
Debra also is a master in making the most of the natural light in a room.
Her fees were modest and reasonable. She was prompt in replying to pleas for color help. She spent a generous amount of time talking with us about paint choices. And, she was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend her.
"Thank you, (deleted member name). It was a pleasure to work with you and your family. i loved that the girls had definite opinions about how they wanted their rooms to look, and am glad we were able to make their rooms special for them!"
