Rain had dug 6-8 in trenches in a relatively newly excavated driveway which had already undergone major repair one year after the original excavation job.  I wanted to try another company and called Geo Wiltse & Son. 
They arrived soon after my call, gave me an estimate, promptly began repair and worked steadily till completion (about 2 1/2 days).  They used 40 yards Item 4, recontoured the driveway and excavated a swale at the hill's bottom for water runoff.  They said they were using larger stone that should compact better.   The grading repair is perfect and I already see the difference in that the dirt is much more compact than before.   I won't be able give a final verdict till i see if it holds out past one rain. 
II gave them a 'C' for the price only because it was much higher than I expected (or wanted).    But if works I'll consider it worth it.  I hoping yearly maintenance will be significantly less.
