I was very reassured when I took the computer in, and left it for them to evaluate. In my discussions with them I could see they had the expertise to find the issues and most likely recover data either from the drive or the backup. I also knew that there could be a lot of data that couldn't be recovered. The odds weren't good. They were able to get the majority of my data from the original hard drive. I had discs for most of my programs and some could be downloaded later. I was very impressed with their ability to get my computer back with 90-95% of the data needed. No vital data was lost. I did get a new hard drive and a new upgraded Windows 7 operating system. I was very pleased that they were able to get my Office Outlook emails and data transferred to the new hard drive. It had 133 business contacts and saved emails to document transactions. It is difficult to be patient when so much vital data is involved. It took 6 business days to restore the computer which I felt was reasonable. I considered paying for expedited service, but I had no immediate deadlines coming up and felt 5 business days was reasonable at the time. If I had immediate deadlines I would have paid the fee as it was reasonable.

It went very well. Tech Smiths called me to advise me not to repair the old laptop. When I arrived, they gave me a carrier with my Solid State Drive inside and a cable to plug into my new Mac. Autumn gave me directions and answered all my questions. I trust the folks at Tech Smiths and recommend them highly as a computer repair company.

Tech Smiths returned my SSD in a USB 2.0 carrier which I was able to plug into my new Mac. The transfer went flawlessly thanks to instructions from Autumn. They saved me a lot of money and I was able to put the money it would have cost to repairing the older technology Mac to a new one. I trust Tech Smiths implicitly and recommend them highly.

By the way, they have moved to Kingston, New York.
