OLD WORLD PLASTER

It was a pleasure to work with Old World Plaster. We had an entirely positive experience. We were gut-renovating our townhouse and we knew that we wanted a plaster finish instead of paint. Old World was recommended to me by our flooring subcontractor. Their bid was much less than the other two plasterers we interviewed (it worked out to between $12 and $13 per square foot), and they were much more knowledgable than the others about colors and finishes. They also had certain important intangible assets: a sense of aesthetics and taste, a can-do attitude, the ability to communicate clearly, and a general affability. After we had chosen the color, there was a long period while we were waiting for the framing contractor to finish the walls, which involved considerable delays.. Old World was flexible and didn't make an issue of rescheduling. When the time to do the work came, they were able and willing to work with the carpenters to plan and execute their work in the most efficient way, without the grumbling and petty conflicts that can sometimes effect jobs where several crews must work simultaneously. As they worked, I noted that they paid continuous attention to the basic craftmanship issues involved: keeping the plaster plumb, smooth and of a consistent appearance; making sure that corners and special conditions were strong; making clean joints with other materials. The bottom line, of course, is always the quality of the final product, and I can say that the house looks really, really beautiful now. The plaster gives a depth, lustre and subtle variation to the wall surfaces that paint just doesn't have.

He is hardworking and cheerful. His prices are good. He has good artistic judgement. The work is fantastic.
