GREEN VALLEY LANDSCAPING

Green Valley Landscaping (Kingston, NY) spoke very highly of their professionalism but we have seen the opposite. Their scheduling promises are merely lip service. They have ignored months of urgent requests to complete the first phase of their work, for which they were paid in full long ago. Worse yet, a second phase of work was promised at the same location. Despite our urgings all winter to plan the project and secure the materials, they did so only at the last minute. Then, at our most urgent time of need, they pulled out of the second phase and sent our payment back. The potential losses due to their negligence could be catastrophic for our company and certainly the opposite of what any contractor or homeowner needs. Since then, we have engaged an irrigation contractor to complete the phase 1 work Green Valley was supposed to do and it will cost us about $3k out of pocket. Do not trust Green Valley Landscaping.

The price was fair and it all ended up looking very nice. There were miscommunications and delays at every step of the project. They put up the wrong fence and then still didn’t put up exactly what I wanted. They planted grass EXACTLY where I told them NOT to. They did the “Finish” landscaping before they finished the fence and gates. The hinges and latches on the gates stopped working two days after we got our C of O, so not that big of a deal but just a reflection of the quality of the work. And the biggest thing is that they severely damaged our fiberglass pool. The scratches are deep and can never be repaired. It took them months longer than planned but as soon as they finished I received a call requesting payment right away. The leftover material and pallets, which I was assured would be cleaned up, remain on my property.

We are extremely happy with the work that was done. Our fence is just what we were hoping for and we use our yard so much more now that we have it. The patio is also just what we wanted. We were very pleased with Green Valley Landscaping - work was done in a timely fashion, and any of our questions before, during, and after installation were quickly addressed.

Abysmal.
The deck staining looked like a child did it. It was full of brush marks, missed areas/entirely unstained areas, swirls, running drips, splotchy patches and spills, and black ink from new wood showing through. As soon as I was able to walk on it and see the atrocity I contacted the owner/president of the company. He said, "I'll send my guy over.". Then, nothing, and when I reached him a week later he argued that nothing was wrong, and nothing was done. When a different subcontractor came to start the patio/concrete project, I happened to be there and happened to see a guy that looked familiar. I showed him the numerous problems. Then the SAME subcontractor who did the original horrendous job shows up and hurriedly slapped on another coat of stain. When I showed him obvious areas he had missed again, he said, "I'm out of stain.". I stared at him, speechless, until he said he would try to mix the last drops of stain from all of the used cans and sloshed it onto those areas. It looks Horrendous.
The concrete patio seems to have been done well, except that this second subcontractor crew left a huge slab of concrete and 3 large piles of crushed stone on my property (as well as plastic cups and empty concrete bags). I asked the company to remove the concrete and waited all summer. It wasn't until three months later that the concrete was removed, and that was on the day he received notice of my dispute of the charges. They also left behind chunks of wood from the concrete framing, and the string line from that framing that I did not find until it tangled up my lawnmower.
Horrible company, horrendous work, no ethics.

Service was actually provided 2 days earlier than expected and more plants provided than discussed when estimate was given. Workers were nice and respectful. Owner was on site for the first day and looked over the work that was completed on the second and final day.
